we used to have those river cane where i live but they cleared out alot of those areas- its a shame really because those were good for making alot of things
@fishtankbank you can make one man boat in one day, If you took it out of the water after each use I would say one year. They still uses balsa tule boats in parts of Peru.

I use about the same material to make camping matresses.
Using it as a boat...how long does it take before it starts degrading? Would it last an entire summer?
