I remember watching this show when I was 9 or 10. I never could figure out what was going on, but I loved Max Headroom and Matt Frewer is the man! I think it came on ABC, right? It seemed like ABC was the top network for shows like this.
I'm pretty sure it was ABC. We didn't even have cable, let alone a premium channel, when I was a kid. Not to mention HBO and Cinemax only showed movies then.
@donniedarkodevotte I just looked it up. and the original Max Headroom was on Cinemax, the later was probably syndicated for ABC, although Wikipedia doesn't mention it, you are most likely right.
i dont know which came first but if anyone has ever seen red dwarf from the uk, max is very much like kryton on that show. i used to watch this show & i am a big red dwarf fan but never noticed it til now :)
that looks more like the intro to the film version - music was writted/performed by Midge Ure.
Matt Frewer plays TV reporter "Edison Carter" who has an accident and the last thing he sees is a sign in a car park "Max Headroom" - this is his electronic alter ego.
The TV series was more Max Headroom and music videos.
@Stroddler No, this vid is the intro to the US TV series - the UK movie ended with the old punk ending up with Max, and the series had him stay with network 23 - what you're thnkin of was the other shows he did where he interviewd Boy George and Sting and stuff like a UK MTV. Coke ads too.
"You are a nut case. And I'll tell you something, I have got an air hammer in my attic and if you did do something to my kids, there's gonna be pieces of you all over the neighborhood!" ;)
Still Love this show even today. Amazing to think that all the GFX's were done on the old Commodore Amiga's. Such a cool Machine back in its day. Real shame there aint an equivalent system these days.
@MrWombatPPC were they?! I used to have one and I didn't know... that was a great machine, I agree, no fancy shmancy state-of-the-art mac could compare
Yes indeed they were. You can even check this fack out by watching the end creadits of the series shows. it states, Graphics by Commodore Business Machines, Amiga Division.
Amiga's been behind some pretty cool effects over the years. As a kid I just assumed Max himself was somehow CG or a composite, but turns out it was just poor Matt Frewer in makeup :) Looking forward to the DVDs this August :)
Funny....i used to get Matt Frewer confused with Dwight Schultz of the A-Team/and Star Trek the Next Generation and other Star Trek spin offs....they look like the could almost past for brothers....
Or a car flipping from a minor collision. Unbelted passengers ALWAYS walked away unscathed! And the A-Team, WTF? How many shots were fired in the typical show and they never hit ANYBODY??
Why does Max Headroom have legs? Answer : Old Punks.

Why does Max remind me of Jim Carrey?
kozinc 1 year ago
@kozinc because Jim Carrey stole from this man. The guy that does Max Headroom is Matt Frewer.
