  • The Full Tilt Boogie Band really knew how to back her up.

  • @lauraoooable They were great, especially the dual-keyboard lineup, but the KBB and BB&THC were no slouches either.

  • Love Janis always!

  • What a voice, still gives me the chills. In a good way.

  • eso si era estilooo....

  • May she rock in heaven RIP Janis Joplin

  • Janis was and IS amazing !! God bless her !!

  • Thrilling. I've always thought that the saddest thing about her early death was that she was just starting to get control of her incredible voice. God bless Janis.

  • wow that's fkn brilliant!

  • Beautiful.

  • By far her best band. Great piano and organ players. John Till, a great guitarist. This was HER band, all picked by her and totally in tune with each other and her. They really cooked. Janis was really coming into her own as an artist and song writer. She could easily be singing and performing today had she not succumbed to heroin. The fact that she died alone when making her best recording to date was, and is, heartbreaking.

  • OMG!!!

  • @TheBatman2194 I COULDNT AGREE MORE!!!!!!

  • Holy shit. This is music.

  • @cbendersf yeh!! his is when singers sang!! and by god she can!!!

  • Sem igual! Grande mulher!

  • Sem igual! Grande mulher!

  • que voz me cae que ella si cantaba con ganas y muy bien sin duda una de las mejores cantantes de su genero :-)

  • Absolutely amazing !!! Janis....you were and still are the greatest female rock singer our planet has ever had !! I hope wherever you are, you're still singing ! " If you believe in forever, then life is just a one night stand....if there's a rock n roll heaven, well you know they've got a hell of a band !" and an awesome lady lead singer !!

  • love this song

  • bonne

  • love janis!!!!

  • im so sorry she died.

  • 涙出てくる

  • this woman was and is awesome and always will be-- what a voice and what a spirit-- i wasn't alive in her time but first time I heard her sing I was hooked. music doesn't have the soul and passion like this anymore... Janis Joplin : one of the greats

  • My favorite song from the Pearl album with the Full Tilt Boogie band. Great stuff, though her live Ball and Chain will always be the song that knocks me out the most.

  • I absolutely love this song, and this is a great live version! Janis Joplin, a walking tour de force!

  • I have a red boa similar to the one Janis is waring. Guess I oughta ware mine in my

    hair too! Love her!!!

  • Was this the "Tilt" Band? Like the prestigious rhythym sections of the period, they

are exquisite. Despite existing musicianship out there today, part of the drought I find is in the presentation. 40 years ago in the absence of HD home theater sound,

demanding stadium-sound element to any musical performance, there was a spareness to the way music was mic'd and came across, and somehow less pretentious and more effective.

  • when i hear the song,i must dance, i love janis

  • Does anyone here wonder about what she would have done throughout the rest of the 70s, if you know....

  • I'll meet you one day. I was born 22 years after you passed, and I feel you.

  • Why isn't her music played more ! Absolutely fantastic !

  • <3 LOVE YOU JANIS: and even though you died 10yrs before I was born, you helped me through some shit man, I identified with you on many levels. THANK YOU JANIS JOPLIN for breaking the boundaries that allowed me to be the WOMAN I am today!! I know you're up there with James now belting out tunes... I'll be there to see you in due time :)

  • She died 2 month later of this concert =///

  • never understood that guitar solo in the middle of the song. so out of context to the rest of the song.

  • Always loved this song by Janis . Interesting to note that it was written by Orleans ( You're Still the One Fame )

  • me encanta janis joplin es una genia ..

  • I have always loved this song

  • Man, she is such a lil firecracker! I love how into it and free she is when she is playing her music, you know the stage meant a lot to her. That was so amazing. I loved it, the guitar was really awesome too. Mna, but Janis really owns it. I love the way she dresses and the way she moves and how she knows the music so well. I really love her.

  • @Catastrophiccam I saw her at the Fillmore in 68...she was dynamic and so friendly and sweet, aside from her tremendous soul and talent. But she burned like a moth to a flame. You can't imagine what a shock it was right after Hendrix!!!

  • Yeah, I know. My mom saw her just a few months before she passed but she was really drunk and high but still put on an amazing show. I know, I can feel her emotion. I know, it was so horrible, both of them.

  • @Catastrophiccam When I saw her in 67 -68 at The Fillmore in New York City she was drinking from a bottle of Southern Comfort on stage..and was pretty drunk.

  • She was one of the worlds greatest gifts! She was with no doubt the best female singers of all time!Another great singer from Port Arthur Texas was Johnny Preston. Both of these singers touched the world"s heart.Janice you"ll always be remembered!Port Arthur Texas.

  • Yeah it's a darn shame she was sad and lonely and threw her life away with heroin.

  • I would have loved her the right way!

  • She was one of the best singers of all time! She and Johnny Preston were Port Arthur's best and both touched the hearts of the World.God Bless you Janice.Port Arthur lost a mega talent!

  • Só na dança da bundinha , né Janis ?

  • Yes... I could- I suppose if you could actually speak English- you might catch on....

  • I love you Janis Joplin.

You make me feel so crazy so free

  • Me too!

  • Port Arthur/Port Neches . . . REPRESENT! (Even though you guys hated her during her lifetime, she is the best thing to come out of that very special corner of the world)

  • She looks good here and love her outfits!

  • i think shes the most beautifulest thing i've ever seen at 3:18-3:38

  • Doesn't she look so free and into it? she looks so...mesmerized by it.

  • i always thought that in this video she looks her best. and now that she's got a man she really throws herself into it. i love how she sings that one word, "sunrise", she leaves the impression, "WHOA."

  • Favorited

  • Yes indeed GREAT STUFF - i grew up with Pearl and other JJ albums and untill I discovered Black singers she ruled , Still absolutely great singer and band - love it .

  • many people say janis was the greatest female white female blues singer of her time.......i totally agree with that except i believe she was the greatest white female blues singer THAT EVER LIVED!!!!she had so much pain and she expressed her pain through her power house rough voice, a true genius

  • damn that's a funky tune.

she's frikin sexy, and not in a derogatory way. in her power and emotion... and she has a nice ass....

  • no? not funny?

    i thought so...

  • i love janis...she's got that roughness and sort of in your face agragounce thats quiet unique...nvmd my spelling.

  • with Funk, Soul & Rock 'n Roll the ever Love'n JANIS JOPLIN!..miss u Babe! =o/

  • Often Immitated but NEVER NEVER NEVER could be duplicated..... Her voice was once in a lifetime like a shooting star straight from heaven.....

    Our beloved Pearl.......

  • Happy Birthday Janis! Peace and Love!

  • Best band she ever had.

  • Gone decades too soon the great Pearl. How much she still could have offered. She was just coming into her own.

  • Happy Birthday Janis. We miss you every day little girl blue.

  • two months later she was gone. THE voice

  • R.I.P Janis,we love you.<3 Forever 27!

  • she was only 27 but she looked much older. that's what booze and drugs do...

  • a very funky band...great players..very tight. All pro...gota go practice now...

  • I SO agree ..there will NEVER be another singer like Janis ..her supreme greatness will reign amongst the haters ....her fans are Legion and grow more and more with each passing day....xo

  • I don't care if you liked her or not there will never be another Janis again! Love you Janis.

  • I was responding to the ugly, evil comments from atfatw, which have now been taken off youtube ..and I will always defend her from idiots, conail23 ..like the loser alef9 below ...how many MALE singers can we say the same about f'ker..Mick Jagger, David Lee Roth, Jim Morrison ..the list is endless ...and every last one of them didn't have her talent !! xo

  • @PeaceFan1 - his comments have been removed from this and some other pages, but unfortunately not from YT. I share and understand your pain :(

  • you're beautiful, Janis

  • she died only 27 ...

  • Once again atfatw, You're a LOSER and don't have good taste in music AND can't spell or speak correctly... a George W. Bush lover , perhaps ? BTW, 99 % of the comments on Janis are overwhelmingly positive and overflowing with praise for her talent , so go F yourself...xo

  • I am a GWBush supporter AND a huge Janis Joplin fan so don't generalize like that, it's a bad habit ;) Just cuz we dont see eye to eye on politics doesnt mean we can't acknowledge that Janis was a beautiful person, full of passion and unbelievable talent!

  • video youtube .........agacio o blues que faz sucesso

  • its our job to keep her music alive guys.

    RIP Janis :]

  • @ukulaura - YOU TALK SO RIGHT MAN

  • ¡¡janis gozadora...jajajajaja!!

    de otro planeta unica

te amo janis no me canso de verte y escucharte....

    desde chile

  • she died two months after this performance...sad. Great artist.

  • atfatwa is an Idioit .... NO WAY JAnis Joplin of all singer's would have been " out of a job " ...what a stupid statement ...Most singer's wished they were Janis on their worst day let alone be able to carry her sandle's.... Jesus.. Let's hear something intelligent Please...

  • Unlike some of her contemporaries that Texas gal lived and breathed the blues and gave it back in her own Country,Folk ,Pop, Rock styled voice....She could of worked any time she felt fit..and probably left tons of musicians waiting for the call .. it's possible her estate still does....Just like Santana, CSN&Y or Robert Plant, Etta James.or Patti Smith who I saw put on a great show at the Santa Monica Pier..she is inimitable....I recognized that the first few seconds I heard Down on Me. Rap:?)

  • This is my favorite John & Johanna Hall song of Orleans fame. I almost burned out this 45 B-side.

  • she's alive for ever

no one who sang like she sanged can ever die!

  • why did u have to leave us janis....

  • @flowerbridge101 "why did u have to leave us janis...."

God needed her voice in the heavenly choir, so He called her home early.

She sings with the angels now....

    ...and is feeling no pain

    (heaven, remember)

Srsly, we were lucky -- blessed, if you will (and even if you won't) -- to have had her with us as long as we did. Talent like that doesn't come round all that often.

Hopefully, wherever she may be, she's happy and at peace; she's more than earned it.

  • Janis Sure knew her way around a song !! Even if She did it different every time, She NAILED it !! God Bless, I miss You SO !! xo
