My hair has been growing for about a year and 7 months and I've rarely used a blow dryer because it can dry out the hair. Because I've neglected them it shows. Part of it was knowing how to care for my hair (never had long hair EVER) and having a steady place to care for them properly. Now i'm caring for them and I see what needs attention. I might make a lock journey vid.

@XplicitViews21 Just my hair wasnt use to it yet ...and I washed and blow dired it 6-7 times before we dreaded it...so it was super dried

i'm a hairstylist and have my first caucasian guy coming in to start off some locks... how did the braiding at the root turn out and did you soak your hair in seasalt before or after it was locked???

@elizabethjkuhn I wouldnt recommend the braid...That took awhile to lock...but its kinda hard to start the dread without one... If you do, do a braid...make it semi sloppy, so it doesnt look like a braid...

I soaked it after...before, I washed my hair a good 4-5 times with dreadlock shampoo you can buy at any whole foods...and I blow dried the crap out of it

yo i got the same problem, (except im not a female) but i train at a rickson gracie academy and everytime i train its like im going backwards on my dreads, i tie em and wear a bandana but the roots still get super loose afterwards
