  • u guys think that's good?? when he was at man utd he scored from a similar positon, HOWEVER it wasn't an open goal!

  • why becks ever went to play footy in the usa...no one will ever know.....

the quality of 'soccer'(said in a wee gay american accent) is dreadful....nearly as bad as the quality in scotland!..and it is shite football!

  • it says its 60yards out u dick head get it right dum dum lol:)

  • whilst this was a good goal, this one was far better as he actually lobbed the goalkeeper. watch his halfway line goal against wimbledon. He is a class act unfortunately he made some wrong decisions in his pursuit of celebrity which detracted from his skills as a footballer .

  • i believe it was a 60-yard goal...

  • @Farkonnn do not exagerate. He is a very good shooter but what about roberto carlos? I think HE is the best one and other players like C Ronaldo and Gerrard are very good too.

  • I'm sorry, but it is not that easy to hit something which is 20 ft wide and 8ft tall from over 60 yards, especially with an object that can respond dramatically to wind change and altitude. Try it and see for yourself, the ball will move all over the place if you don't get the strike just right.

  • The goalie must have been playin on the field tryin to get a goal

  • everyone can do it...but when its in a match...u feel the adrenaline ..u dare to do it?

  • wonder goal? on an empty net? wtf?

  • @drhoratio

I take it you dont play? This is actually extremely difficult.

  • weres the goalie!!!!!!!!

  • hmzwhy there is no chat on you tube.. Btw anyone up for some cam chat^^

  • holly crap! he still has it! damn

  • so what was the goalkeeper doing on the other side of the field?

  • they bring the keeper up when theres no time and the team is losing to get an extra chance for a goal off the corner, like pulling the goalie for an extra attacker in ice hockey

  • David Beckham was and will always be the Best and most talented shooter/crosser in football history.

  • Commentary is lol

  • its not a wonder goal......americans just think that lol....watch beckham's goal against wimbeldon, he actually managed to beat the keeper from the half way line :)

  • @topgear100 Can we stop the American stereotyping please? Americans were originally descended from Europeans, Asians, and Africans. Just say, it was not a wonder goal, he has done better, instead of saying "Americans just think that" was it my fault that my parents immigrated and gave birth to me in the USA?

  • @topgear100 haha i bet they even put an advert break in the middle of that shot

  • Its not a wonder goal, but it was decent accuracy from that kind of range.

  • good goal, but with some decent accuracy, any player could score that, DB's goal against Wimbledon for United was better than this and truely special for 2 reasons, 1. The Premier League had never seen something like it, and 2. Neil Sullivan of Wimbledon was in his own area when Beckham went for it, and scored, It takes excellent accuracy and excellent vision to score that sort of goal

  • That goal is closer to 80 yards. The Galaxy's field is 120 yard long meaning the center line is 60 yards. Add 10 yards for the center circle. If you look at 0:08 Beckham clearly strikes the ball between 5 and 10 yards behind the edge of the center circle.

  • hahahaha sums up how america sucks at 'soccer' haha and how david beckham is praised for an ounce of talent in l.a galaxy

  • You wold be surprised how difficult it is to score from that distance especially after spriniting that short distance on top of playing before that. Alonso is world class but remember, he younger and IMO has the better shot between him and beckham. Beckham, skill lies in accuracy of delivery and dead ball situations, both something England don't have with walcott, wright-phillips and jenas. Notice all have similar play style

  • @Javadamutt "Beckham, skill lies in accuracy of delivery and dead ball situations, both something England don't have with walcott, wright-phillips and jenas" Walcott and SWP are wingers, Jenas is a center midfielder, not similar play at all.

  • @MarcSAFCCUFC I don't understand the point of your comment. A truly great winger can either push up and attack like a wing forward or cross the ball after either beating his man or hitting early and catching the central defenders off guard. Walcott and SWP where ment to play that role but lack the vision and decision making. Beckham could beat his man and deliver a killer ball which England have really lacked. If only Bale was english he would possibly be the all round package

  • @Javadamutt My point was that Jermaine Jenas is a centre midfielder, not a winger, so I was pointing that fact out that you cannot compare him to the others.

  • haha it's kinda funny cause i was watching an MLS game the other day and it was Kansas city V.S LA and Kansas city scored from half way, Kansas city strikes back! XD

  • that wasn't so great. Xabi Alonso did a WHOLE bunch better than beckham did. He scored against Newcastle from 70 yards WITH the keeper still at the goalposts!

  • ...but nobody cares because Beckham's much more entertaining.

That and the fact that Liverpool are a bunch of dirty scouse turd merchants that everyone's sick of hearing about.

    Good day to you sir.

  • it was against Wimbledon but you are correct about this goal being wholly unremarkable.

  • they said that goal waz from 60 yardz no for 70.!|!

  • any professional footballer would score that. if you want an actual "wonder goal", check out his lob against Wimbledon

  • If I were you I'd consider the "half a loser" part. You start every word with a capital letter, after all...

  • just because MLS sucks doesnt mean we suck at all sports kid. I love EPL but i also love UT, and in case you havent noticed we usually do quite well in the olympics.

And Stop Starting Every Word With A Capital Letter Dumbass.

  • ok i understand that we have no good soccer clubs or worldclass players. baseball.....ehhhhhh idk we arent the worst thats for sure. and as for football(american) we are the only country that plays the sport so i dont know who you are making the comparison to

  • lol, you're spot on about armerican football.

  • It isnt that special to score from there. But for americans it is.

  • hahaha! that is so true :)

  • where was the goalkeeper?

  • he went to help at a corner kick his team had gotten it was around the 90 minute so i dont blame him for leaving the goal they were all ready loosing 2-1 he might as well just try to tie the match (btw its no much of a "wonder goal" i mean shooting from that distance is great and all but there was no keeper i could have just runned and then kicked it in or something XD hahaha anyway great goal from Beckham)

  • he was being manny ramierez from the red sox taken a fucken break while the game was going on or he was taken a shit who know's that was funny

  • he came out you diot

  • america super power?

    not for much longer my friend;

america super national debt more like it!

  • der he english

  • i think this is stupid because americans suck at soccer (footbal).

  • wow, its because its not the only sport in our country! unlike all the countries in europe.

  • and yeah u suck at them aswell

  • hahahha :D

  • not very informed are you friend there are plenty of sports played in europe just that you havent took the time to look, if anythin theres a wider variety of sports then there is in america...so stop acting like you know things ye fool

  • i hope this was your last comment that you wrote to me

  • jeez you really dont give up ey

  • this goal is not amazing or anything. it only shows that he has a strong kick. if he would have scored that with a goalie than that would have been awesome.

  • you are wrong. it shows that he has a strong AND accurate kick.

  • yeah i know strong and accurate but that goal is nothing special cuz he scored on an empty net. you know what i mean

  • I guess you don`t play then.....not as easy as it looks - and it hit the centre of the goal. You try hitting a target from 70 yards under pressure. He is crap now though.

  • look, those are proffesional players and im not saying that its easy to shoot a ball this hard and i do agree that its a goal you dont see everyday. but my point is that every player with a strong kick and good accurancy could score that as well and it'd be more suprising if he'd scored that with a goalie in the net.

  • @ahmadbinosman Strong?

The ball needed 4 seconds for the way.

The distance is around 60-70 meters. ( A football/soccer field is around 50 meters long, he´s behind the halfway line, so i added 10-20 meters.)

    So...this is a slow shot...15-17,5 m/s are around 52-63 km/h.

    Not strong, but accurate.

  • dude you're right. that goal's nothing because there was nobody defending the goal. it happens in europe all the time. but unfortunately people here never really watched soccer. it was would been awesome had the goalie been there. and yes.. beckham has scored one in 1996 when the goalie was there.

  • exactly

  • theres been a better one scored same distance, on the left upper corner, and with a goalie

it was scored by gaitan in 2004 he was with tigres but left to necaxa *sniff*

  • For those of you who say Americans can't play football(soccer), then look at the US womens soccer team, they won the olympics!!

  • dude shut up u making americans look bad we still have alot of catching up to do to the europians

  • yeah but your pofessionals played...every other team had amateurs playing

  • and it also Norway has won the olympics..and fucking CHINA are in top 4 in the world. woman football is shit, boring and they look like cowards.

  • but i must say it is a class shot by beckham!

you can tell he is english not american :]

  • @kb19kb19 Wow, that was insulting to Americans. Nationality is not everything. Beckham is good, no doubt about that, but not on some genetic level.

  • @kb19kb19 how exactly can you tell he is "english"?

  • @SuperTwoSeven because if he was american he would have been distracted by a mcdonalds sign :)

  • @kb19kb19 we would have to see him in nets letting in a garbage goal to confirm that he is english

  • @malcom425 "a garbage goal". Oh dear, if you're talking about Robert Green then be quiet, he's not even our first team keeper and look at the mistakes Howard, Friedel, Keller and Hahnemann have made over the years.

  • @MarcSAFCCUFC all english goalkeepers are horrible. simple as that

  • this goal is set-up! americans have to be bigger and better than everyone else just because beckham scores from the half-way line in england the americans decide 'weve gotta do better' and score from 70 yards. but if you look as soon as beckham gets the ball noone closes him down and also the keeper doesnt really look in a rush to get back does he. its a load of rubbish, AMERICANS CANT PLAY FOOTBALL*!! (*i mean proper football where you play with your feet not your hands)

  • no offence 2 u americans but u are shit at football

  • ya totally even though i am proud to be American (despite my name....)

  • Wat in the world is the goalkeeper doing there

  • im not one to cause controversy, especially with our cousins over the pond, but please please can someone tell me what the word ( SOCCER ) means, look, its like this..football means, foot to ball,yes..ok..not pick ball up with hands and run and throw with it,we call that RUGBY..ie no body armour also..so what is soccer, pick (sock) up and hit (her)SOCCER,i dont know, please elaborate

  • The official name is "Association Football"

Soccer came from the abbreviation of Association - Assoc.

The name just took off from there. About 1890 was when it was first used.

  • Americans cant play soccer

  • well its silly americans who play they should stick to there american football

  • yea i really feel bad for being a wizard fan now.......ok i love Kevin Hartman but dude stay in the damn goal box

  • but where was the keeper?

  • they took him out

  • Normally to push for a goal teams put the keeper up for cornors. The extrahight and playeer can create trouble for defenders. in stuart pearce's case he substitued a defender for his 2nd keeper and played David James as a striker. Funniest final moments of a match in football history ever xD

  • what the whole u.s.a know about soccer it's men game

where the hell was the keeper

    ha ha ha ha

i guess he asked for a timeout to go to bathroom XD

  • That's just plain amaazzzing!. my team would be so happy to even watch him

  • americans - what do they know about football!

  • madness
