Just so you know this is easily explained, as I do the same thing all the time. If you don't have radar rotation locked, you can turn your screen to a 45 degree angle to the radar in order to see further by using the corners of the square radar box. Whenever my teammates die, or kill someone on the other side of the map I do this, and there just happened to be a guy walking up at the same time.
