I'd say the best weapons are those that can take out grubs with one shot, even on Insane difficulty. Therefore, Longshot (if you aim for the head), Torque Bow (if you use it right) and Lancer (with chainsaw). Boltok is also great as a side arm!

@eatfriedeggs The Hammerburst is not Semi-Automatic. Semi-Automatic rifles are a rifle that is ALMOST automatic (go figure) meaning each pull of the trigger releases 1 bullet, instead of pulling the trigger while the gun fires stopping only when the trigger is released or the clip is expended.
