Thank God for heim joints and birdcages! Leaf springs and slider shackels only do so much. Looks like y'all could use a take-up spring on the RR because it became completely unloaded a few times.
It's a 4 bar/arm suspension that the rear end rotates in "birdcages where the 4 bars and shocks mount. The torque arm/lift bar when under power pick the lr of the chassis up and causes the lr to "drive" under the car giving it a rear steer. The effect can be seen in the other videos.
considering that ive never seen the bottom view of one of these cars im confused as to what this torque arm does. some one please explain. im more familiar with baja 4 link suspensions.
@tankerboysabot Now, when acceleration is applied, the rear wants to rotated opposite of the drive wheels, but the rotation is controlled by this torque arm which acts against the underside of the chassis, providing a lifting force. The spring reduces the shock from acceleration, helping to retain traction.
Bracket placement, spring strength, and shock specs are used as tuning tools.
The torque arm increases traction by using the weight of the car to apply downward force to the rear wheels. How?
The rearend is located in the chassis laterally by a j-bar(panhard) and longitudinally by the trailing arms. The rear is mounted in bearings where the trailing arms mount to the rearend, allowing it to freely rotate.

It's a chevy crate 350 engine. Everything has to be stock, but you can put any kind of carb. on it, I believe.
