In this particular video, Celente seems to be sympathetic to people in debt almost to the point of sounding like a Democrat (well, not quite).

Second, America needs to lower its population. There are simply too many people here today to maintain them. Its impossible to grow the economy at 5 million new workers per year.

The most common GM crops are Corn and Soybeans... and they need fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides to still function. GM foods do incease the amount of yield per acre and may reduce usage of certain inputs but it does not save money. How does your statement prove my statement wrong? Pre-1900 the population wasn't 7 billion people. Organics weren't feeding our current number. Also we weren't feeding them with any consistency, there were mass shortages in some places.

Current population not 7 billion. The term "bio" is a misnomer, my primary argument is that small independent farming can replace large scale farming. In pre 1900 we did not have the road and transport infrastructure we have today, which led to distribution shortages. Price fixing, which is common today is less likely with independent farming, which could lead to higher prices which would be offset by a broader distribution of wealth.

A re-introduction of farmers markets as seen in Europe, Australia and most of the world, would allow people a choice between corporate and independent food sources. The reason things like Walmart arise (At least in a hypothetical free market) is because they are cheaper and more efficient than mom and pop stores. There's no reason that consumers should favor mom and pop stores. Whoever allocates resources more effectively wins in the market.
