It's not distorted. My theory is that Macedonians are Thraco-Illirian and only a small amount of Macedonian have a trace amount of Greek DNA, either from the Hellenic Era or from the divisons of the 1900's. I think that Macedonia is like the America of the Balkans.

The notion of Greece as a unified nation is resent in classicle times there was Sparta Athens Thebes and lots of other city states. It was unified for a short time when Philip II and alexander the great conquerd (G) but quickly became seperated into different leagues.

In 1913, the Greek army completely burned to the ground the city of Kilkis, known for its resistance against Hellenism in the 19 century and the birthplace of Gotse Delchev. villages in the Kilkis area were also burned down. the city of Serres was also set on fire where 4000 houses perished. In the Serres gymnasium the Greeks murdered about 200 people.

There wouldn't be resistance or persicution of people in the regean of Macedon, if they saw themselves as Greek, and or wanted to be united with Greece.
