@MaxC17 It is flashing colors, They usually do this just before they launch their attack. I guess it is sort of like a hypnosis.

Yep ! I think if you are really gentle and don't show any abrupt movement, they usually don't dart away and are quite approachable.

wow! i've been looking so long for footage where you can see them hunting. The fast changing colours might be a trick and its advantage is, that the cuttlefish hypnotises its "food" - i've seen this on a documentation and couldn't find any video where you can see them doing it...

Hi, Brettkatze, thanks for your comment. This was shot in Derawan, Indonesia in June/2007. Actually, they are quite friendly and easily approaced. In another footage, I have even gently tickled them on the back (well, I know I am not suppose to touch them but they don't seem to mind)and they responded with changing color and texture.

I will be off to Kapalai/Sipadan/Mabul for 9 days in May and look out for more footage of Blue Ring Octopus, ghost pipe fish..etc.
