What a way of meeting people and get to see their talent. At first was reluctant being on youtube, but getting to do this has brought me into the houses of some very special people. You are one of them. Life; isn't it wonderful!!! Keep up the good work. Have A Splendid Day!!!!
Hi Phil. Excellent wrist technique. So many squatters tend to allow the bar to roll their wrist into an uncomfortable hyper-extension. It's nice to see such a straight wrist with a relaxed grip. Curious - did you work a long time at your squatting technique?
That is an interesting hook apparatus attached to the top of the squat rack as well. Is that a custom design from the gym you train at?
@DallasReeves Actually squatting comes naturally to me. I have always squatted that way so thanks for the compliment on my wrist tech. The apparatus in called a monolift. Made just for squatting so you can have a choice of walking the weight out or not. Being able to move the hooks allows for a safer squat and don't risk getting hurt walking the weight out. Not custom designed but can be ordered and has to be put together.
Nice lifts Big Phil! Question on technique... is the idea of the box squat to sit on the box? It appears the weight shifts way back at the bottom of your squat which I thought was quite scary until I watched the vid a couple times and realized you might be seated briefly.
@Jaggedfish You just want to sit on the box long enough to take the pressure off your quads and then back up. The main thing is to not let your spine get jammed up and that's where technique comes into play. A lot of people tap and go and some use a cushion on top of the box to let them know that they should start going up. As long as you stay strong throughout your torso, you will be fine. Chest out at all times. I hope this helped. Thanks for commenting.
Thank you very much for Sharing!!!!!

I'm sorry I know in your field all that heavy lifting is good, but it looks painful as hell! Please do not hurt yourself.

Nice. After he put up 525 twice, I was thinking he could get at least 550. He did 555. Crazy.
