  • Are beta things in this commercial? an area with a tree that can be ridden isn't in the final game and the dog's form doesn't match the period it's in.

  • i still play this game on my psp

  • this game looks kind of fun!

  • Squaresoft...maker of the worlds greatest video games; Oh my, how the mighty have fallen.

  • Fun fact: the music in this game is by Jeremy Soule.

More recently, he composed the music for Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim.

  • i spent my childhood obsessed with this game

  • that was a very wired and lame RPG...

  • @EggieStulrex u mad.

  • this game is so good!

  • favorite game of my childhood

  • Those were the days...

  • Im sorry what was this game called again?

  • the good old days of squareSOFT, not squareenix....

  • Wow. I've never seen that before. This game is raw.

  • 0:13 0:16 I've played this game and that doesn't happen.

    THANKFULLY.

  • brings back memories

  • <3 this game, IMHO one of the top 10 best RPG ever made, way way beyond its time.

  • this game is awesome!

  • I'm trippin' balls, man.

  • @GreenGearMood I don't feel anything...oh, there it is.

  • mi juego preferido de snes

  • good comercial

A remake with animated scenes like that would be awesome

  • Amazing game, would love to see a remake.

  • oh and you also dont see american comericals in general like this anymore why cant american comericals today be as good as secret of evermore god do i hate today's american comericals esepllay in the internet

  • wow that's a very creepy commerical back in the day you dont see american game commericals like this anymore

  • In the German Version, the Game starts in a town named Groß-Ostheim, where in RL the german Nintendofactory is. And this Town is the Town where I was gone to School when I was a child

  • excellent game, too bad square joined with enix, ever since the merger theyve put out games that were only mediocre at best save for a couple

  • I so love this game :D my top 3 snes game`s ^^

  • One of the best games I've ever played (In my top 5)

    Just outstanding.

The most underrated, overlooked and unappreciated game i've ever played.

Its sad that kids in my age (I'm 14) ain't getting much of a chance to play these type of video games.

    Or Retro games in general!

Retro over next gen any day!

  • @ahsdjsdgfhjgdhhhhhhh I wrote a playthrough of this game:

    CrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrushCrush

  • @teekoo777

Lol, fun fact: i didn't use crush at all the first time I played this game :)

So that Rat boss was a pain in the nose!

  • @ahsdjsdgfhjgdhhhhhhh Personally me neither, just weapons and the dog's attack on the final area, but that was because I didn't know how powerful Crush could be.

  • @teekoo777

Yeah, i've seen those tricks with Crush...

I only used that Fire flame spark or wathever it was called, it made like 350 damage!

Lol it was the first Rpg Í played so i wasn't really experienced and didn't know what to do.

But I finished the game so I guess I don't suck either :)

  • @ahsdjsdgfhjgdhhhhhhh Crush was amazing because it only required 1x1 ingredients, limestone and wax if I remember right. So you could just stack it to 99. Most spells requred 1x2.

  • @teekoo777

    Yeah those were common too.

I really like the alchemy system in this game its so cool!

  • @ahsdjsdgfhjgdhhhhhhh i completely agree i purchase a wii and a 3ds to the replay retro games and the sega ultimate collection on my ps3 and i could honestly say i would play most games in that collect and on the VC over 90% of all games on ps3, wii and 360

  • @ff10fire666

Yeah dude, i own Sega Ultimate Collection too :)

  • Someone else noticed the mistake in the commercial? At 0:24, it says "Received 1'000 gold pieces", but I'm quite sure you get 5'000 jewels as you fight Aquagoth

    before coming to Gothica.

  • my favorite part is when the dog is transforming, pretty neato :D

  • ce jeux c vraiment manifique je ladore je sait pas ou je trouve ca casset mon pere il as casse la casette de ce jeux

  • @MultiMassi16 Chrono Trig...

You're saying that Chrono Trigger is...

    I...

    ...What?

  • I'm another Evermore fan who thinks Mana was just another very generic fantasy setting.

P.S. CT is the most overrated game ever, even moreso than FF7.

  • @tubefu CT is by no means overrated, that is the greatest RPG and possibly game of all time. I think ive beaten it 53 times.

  • WHOAH! I had this game when i was a kid and I've honestly never seen this, LOL!

  • whoa, this new game looks off the hook!

  • Why can't all video game commercials be this awesome? That was some of the best 33 seconds of my life

  • 0:24 wtf who has a poodle in the sewers..... faaaaail xD

  • A decent ad, but I wish they would remove all the fucking seal barks because it's really upsetting me.

  • nostalgie auf höchster stufe

  • so i never understood. is this game at all anything related to secret of mana? i mean it looks so much like it. i haven't played them but i want to play them so damn bad!

  • @McScreamo It's a totally separate game. It was actually made by the US Square Team in Redmond, WA. It seems very Secret of Mana-ish, but story-wise, it's no way related to the Mana series.

  • One of the most UNDERATED games ever.

  • @.@ I'M TRIPPIN BALLS!

  • What a criminally underrated game, no one knows what this game is when you ask them... but it's brilliant... Shit advert though :)

  • Just beat this game today and I'll probably look at this moment with fondness in the future. Late nights, little food, all that weapon charging which hurt my thumb. But it was all worth it! Thank you Square USA for making this game. Thank god for this game! Everything from the grapihcs to the B-movie style theme to Jeremy soules ambient music...this game is fucking epic and has just become one of my favorites! Thank you Square USA for this brilliant game!

  • Childhood memories = This game, Secret of mana, Chrono Trigger.

  • @peteraardz not entirely true. Mass Effect's beautiful art design shines through far more in 3d than it would have in 2d. it is one of the greatest rpgs ever made.

  • Man, was there ever a time commercials were any good? For the most part, they suck now and, if this video was any indication, they were pretty bad in the ninetys as well. And we all know how cheesy all the commericals predating the late eighties were.

  • The dog morphing was kinda weird.

  • i never thought i had the chance to say this: THANK YOU FOR THIS GAME. you influenced my childhood

  • YES YES

  • The best game ever! I like 2D more I don't understand why all games are 3D? oke shooters are better on 3D but RPG are better on 2D

  • The only thing that would have been nice, is a 2 players mode, kinda like Secret of Mana. Otherwise, it was a nice game. Then Square started to focus on graphics letting down the storyline...

  • any chance that the song in this commercial is an actual song and can be found somewhere? :/

  • At last, as classic Square game that was released in Aus. I should by a new Snes and find a copy of this!

  • The game was underrated....one of the greatest games ever

  • Jeesus, Kick-Ass Commercial!!! Should be more of these around!!!!

  • I don't remember ever seeing this commercial, but I did play this game when it first came out in the mid-90's. I am playing through it again on my PC and it brings back a floodgate of memories. 15 years.... Jaysus, seems like yesterday.

  • ahh yea, favorite speed run ever ^^ such a great game

  • This commercial mindfucked me more than Giygas ever could.

  • this game sould be made into a cartoon it has a good story

  • Jeremy souled who did morrowind soundtrack got his start on this game too

  • This was made FULLY by squaresoft of America back when their office was down the street from Nintendo of America in Redmond WA (same time period as Microsoft building their huge campus ) I remember playing this and getting advice from some friends who game tested at squaresoft... unfortunately the Sony relationship made them leave town... sad times

  • Did anyone notice that the fucking dog had eaten a bigger dog?

  • @Erosdriver No he didn't, he was *turning* into a bigger dog.

...Anyway, this wasn't nearly as cheesy as I expected it to be when I clicked Play. It was a pretty good ad, actually.

  • @Link8312

Dare I saw this response has some lulz?

  • I know this is sad but I am playing this for the 1st time on my Sne9x emulator! I never played this when my snes was young and strong now it is dead :(

  • I feel like I just watched "The Ring" again.. lol :b

  • This makes me want to scream. Best video game ever made.

  • Square - Maker of the world's Greatest video games. I agree with that, until they changed the name to SquareEnix, then they kinda went downhill.

  • this the most fun game of all time!

  • "Square. Maker of the world's greatest video games." Extremely immodest, yet true...

  • 0:19 IS A LIE. D:< I WISH you could keep that awesome big dog around. But all the same, this is still my favorite RPG ever. I mean it, I played this before I ever did Mana, I thought Mana was the sequel! All I remember is that this game was awesome, and growing up, it seemed to become better in my eyes. Odd, huh?

  • YaY! old commercials, that's why i LIKE YouTube... :B

oH! and i must say that i like this game more than Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger... TOGETHER!!! Ox... Nwehehehe.

Just because of the main characters :D

  • this was not the best rpg at the time terranigma was way better than this

  • @dodgesxt As a matter of fact, it did. I won't spoil what happens at the end; you'll have to find that out, yourself. ;)

  • @dodgesxt If I recall correctly the bodyguard's name was (are you ready for this?) Norman.

Truly an epic name if ever there was one.

  • i love this game whaoooooooo XD

  • You know, Secret of Evermore was good, but I think a lot of nostalgia is fueling a lot of these posts, because it wasn't anything amazing. It was a second-tier Squaresoft Snes game.

That being said, its still a very fun game, and that commercial rocked.

  • @BloodPump it wasn't terrible or overpriced at the time. there are better, yes, by some standing but there are probably even better games the SE's current releases.

  • Oh I remember this commertial good :)

This is what I call GAME!

Have buy it 1995 and still today I can play it again and again and I do it^^

  • NICE!!!!!!! :)

  • i don't think they said secret of evermore enough :|

  • That looks cool! Why haven't I known this game existed!

  • Squaresoft... maker of final fantasy 21346543698723541354215

  • Squaresoft... maker of final fantasty 213412351346135467913460132412354

  • THAT's a Commercial!

  • love this game!

I also liked the very American touch by the Square of America developers. Lots of references to classic B-movies and 50's American culture...

  • @Aleanization its a machine

  • Deverian sacar este juego para Wii. llegue a pasarlo 3 veces

  • The animation kinda reminds me of Mighty Max...Or some other cartoon that involved a young boy facing off against impossible odds and powers he couldn't even begin to understand.

  • This game was AWESOME! Hell of fun to play too!

  • SEGA!

  • @Aleanization It's an "artifical alternate dimension". The game doesn't explain how that works. It appears to be kinda like Matrix or Digimon World, only that it's a physical world and not a digital one. Sounds confusing, I know, but that's how it is. To tell the truth; I think even the writers themself had no idea what exactly Evermore is supposed to be when they created it. ^^°

  • That's awesome! =O

Would be cool if they'd made a full SoE movie in the same style as this. But of course the chance that's happening (sadly) is reaally (reaaaalllyy ²) small.

Used to play this game a lot when I was young. It was one of my favorites on the SNES (together with Unirally/Uniracers). . . . . . . . . . . . *surfs to Ebay*

  • Epic commercial!

  • U know squarenix has lost there touch in the gaming making buiesness when I'd rather play old school gems like these then the crap they put out now. FUCK FF13

  • @dexterme exactly my opinion

  • @dexterme couldn't agree more

  • @dexterme That would be squaresoft brosef!

  • @dexterme FF13 wasn't that bad, I actually enjoyed it. If you can look at it without expecting a FF6 or FF7 clone, it can be very enjoyable

  • @Lirrink1776 No. No it cannot. It's story is a poorly written mess that is full of holes, and the gameplay is so bare bones thatr it was obvious that they wanted to make a movie and not a game. It's too bad that that movie blows

  • @Lirrink1776 true i wasnt expecting a clone, but i did expect to move in one direct but forward. after playing non linear game for years that worked.... i had trouble . besides i didnt want my only side quests to end up beating up bad guys.

  • @dexterme heh, well I perosnally thought it was a bit better for a change of pace, because hell, if EVERY final fantasy is hte same, it just gets boring, and if they don't try to make new types of games, the series gets stale and no one likes them as much, but trying out new stuff is how they've gotten such a fan base as it is, so yeah, FF13 wasn't as good as FF4 or FF6, but atleast its different, next game though will prolly be open world :P

  • @Lirrink1776 final fantasy vs 13 has been delayed. that was my last great hope for that company. but with titles like mindjack, the kain and lynch dog days and the ff mmo that just about tanked. change is good. different things keep games fresh but they are going a wrong direction. in my opinion its the diehard fans of past games ff games that will by anything final fantasy in hopes of recapturing the same feeling that keep them afloat... it cant be the sub quality title's they are shoveling out

  • @dexterme true, even I have to admit that I revere to the SNES as king of the rpg's, simply because of square's games, and a few other companies, but mostly because of square, but hell, change can be very good or bad, but its a risk, and if Square wants to stay alive, they have to take these risks, otherwise, look at other game makers that don't take risks, Koei is killing itself with stale repeat games that aren't that different, they do NOTHIGN different, but hell, FF Tactics was different :)

  • @dexterme Both this and FFXIII are excellent games. Geez... Why do people on YouTube have to be so black-and-white and hostile about everything... >_>

  • i Love this game, and i always loved finding new secrets, but one i could never figure out was what the MAGIC GOURD did?anyone know?

  • @feelslikeamnesia NO ONE knows that! ^^°

  • @feelslikeamnesia

I can't say for certain, but I believe one of the programmers or lead designers actually got involved in a Q&A on the GameFAQs boards and revealed that the Magic Gourd... actually didn't do anything. There were probably plans but they were never implemented, so the Gourd is simply a Gourd.

    A magic one.

  • I still play this game when I get bored, keep my SNES hooked up next to my PS3. Thanks for an awesome game to you and your entire team Brian.

  • great game. will allways be. thanks ;)

  • I Love this Game.

  • Evermore was a huge game, I think that was a few underated because their escense, to be a RPG inspirated and developed by westerns was the reason why the people don`t value enough.

Was one of my favorite SNES games and I remember it with nostalgic.

  • This deserves its own cartoon.

  • Possibly the most underated action/RPG of its time.

  • Brian (itsbillsfault) let me just tell you that this was my Favorite SNES game of all time, and I am one of the biggest fans of Secret of Evermore, EVER! I loved every moment of the game. I replayed and beat this game through, countless times, and I play it once a year to beat it again (if i'm lazy, once every 2 years) and I wish this game had a sequal or a re-make. I still get creeped out at the INN at crustacia were the guy comes out of nowhere and try's to sell me his necklace. I wat him dead

  • Damn, I miss RPG's like this. I'm getting old, I never thought I would say, "Yeah, they don't make them like they used to... It's not about graphics you young whipper snappers! Back in my day..."

  • I loved this game, so very, VERY much, <3 you guys!

  • Square. Maker of the world's greatest video games. True.

The fusion with Enix wasn't necessary

  • Cool commercial. I've never played this game but I want it! Some of those SNES games were so cool...

  • 8 people never came back...

  • I WANT MY CHILDHOOD BACK !!!!!!!!

  • This commercial doesn't to the game justice!

  • SoM was awesome

    SoE was epic

  • Holy shit, really?! I've always loved this game! I never heard of this ad! Pretty cool, actually.

  • Gotta love shitty 90's ads for good games

  • One of my fav games...

  • Holy crap I saw this commercial like once when I was... six or seven or something? And it scared the crap out of me and I had no idea what it was about and now I've found it again at last. Wow.

  • This game was intensely underrated in its day because console RPG gaming was rife with insufferable weeaboos in the mid-90s. Good to see it's got a little bit of a cult following now.

  • I got nightmares from this commercial back in my childhood :/ scary... srsly...

  • I've never seen this commercial before. It's very weird, but then, it was made for a very weird game, too! Really good game!

  • yo me and my pops use to play the hell out of this game man sadly he passed away few years ago i been going through all the snes rpgs that we tackled together back in the day and this one along with secret of mana stands out the most infact i'm playing it right now i think this game needs more respect than it gets its a solid game and i just found out that there was a anther mana game that never made it outside japan ima fuck with the translated rom after i get done with evermore

  • This commercial is primarily why I never picked up this game when it was first released. It scared the crap out of me as a kid, the scene with the dog vomiting up a scarier version of itself in particular.

  • this is a creepy commercial... O.o im tempted to play this game tho.

  • Easily one of my favorite SNES games. The dialogue, music, gameplay, and story were all superb. I would love to see a remake or continuation of this game for the current generation.

  • @soccerva1 yeah that would be dope

  • Wow, mine I love this game, THIS GAME IS THE BEST GAME MINE FAVORITE 1E :P

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This game is wooo ; o

    GOOD TIMES GOOD TIMES :P

  • @omar180392 HAHA yh, I love that game 2, Have u Zsnes?

  • i remember before to cross the dessert, i found a quick way to go to the market

i used to walk in diagonal toward the left, touching each rock, and suddenly it teleported me to the town :D

  • That was one of the most unusual things I've ever watched.

  • Anyone noticed how overlevel this screenshots are. and with different dogs

  • I dont know what you think of this.. BUT THIS GAME IS AWESOME!

  • honestly bonecrushder is my fav weopon

  • I think secret of evermore is very best of all tne SNES games

  • Secret of evermore is cool and mine favorite game! but Secret of mana hm... i dont no.

  • Why did everyone like Secret of Mana more? Or better yet, why didn't anybody like this game?! It's way more interesting! Square! Make a remake or stop ripping of J.R. Tolkien like everyone else keeps doing!

  • Secret Of Evermore was about 3 trillion times better than Secret Of Mana. Nonstop wry humor, engaging story, likable characters & npcs, and incredible music. This is up in my top 5 SNES with Chrono Trigger and Earthbound and a couple others, but not Mana.

  • @integralfrom0to1 To be fair, Secret of Mana for the SNES was supposed to be much larger, but because the CD add-on for the SNES never came to fruition, Squaresoft was stuck with about half a game. That's why there were only 3 or 4 spells per element and places never really touched on or visited. Man, all this talk of old Squaresoft games makes me want to dig up my old SNES again.

  • Point taken And now thinking back I remember not being pleased by the polygons while simultaneously being blown away by most other aspects (FMVs & Soundtrack).... Im from the age when the original Pitfall & pitfall 2 were jaw droppingly cool.

  • what did i just see? lol

  • From all the bits and pieces of info about the game I kinda feel bad a bit, but the game is good though.

  • This game was pure awesome on all levels. it seems 8 people accidentally missed the "Like" button.

  • back when square was worth a shit!!! uhh

  • @dexterme you mean before enix destroyed square?

  • @izlude2 true!!!! no better truth has been said.

  • @izlude2 I think he means before Square destroyed Enix

  • @ClaudeLv250 well i suppose you're right... i did like actraiser 2 a lot.

  • Can somebody say overhype?

  • @shadowclock12 Yes, but I won't to describe this game.

  • @shadowclock12 What hype? I remember relatively little hype before this game came out.

Of course, I wasn't reading all the publications like I should have been, so I wouldn't know. :P

  • @riotsword No I'm not trying to insult it, I'm just saying that the commercial to me looked amazing. But was the game as awesome as it was made out to be by the commercial?

  • I hate to do it, but this commercial gets a thumbs down from me. I understand the game may not appeal to some people, but it does not reflect, IN ANY WAY, the actual FEEL of the game. The music, the story, the characters...

I know this was just supposed to be a "tease, but they could have made this seem more enticing. The final sales seem to reflect this.
