This plane is amazing -- I tried a Festive Season Experiment with mine Proved just how well made it is when I made it work much harder than it was ever intended -- See Deacs55 channel for details ( "Santa .............. " Video)
I love this glider. Launch it straight out at 30% throttle. Then it will climb. If inexperience do not fly in high wind. Make sure transmitter is on low not high control
This model flies brilliantly ! A slight querk- is the tailplane/elevator arrangement. Secure the tailplane (stab) to the fuz with magic fape- otherwise the tailplane will shift with adverse elevator movements!
@rcman425. Depends how long u leave the motor on. If u read the other comments u would see the answer 7-9 min on full throttle. But much longer in thermals with motor off!
@RCcunuk As I messaged you about this, I deleted your post due to the swearing in it, nothing else. I also messaged you to let you know that it was being deleted, why it was being deleted and invited you to post it again with the vulgarity removed. We have a lot of kids that watch our videos and we keep the comments G-Rated because of that. If you scroll down I also gave you credit for pointing out my error. As I pointed out the plane I looked at had been modded with ailerons.
@HorizonRCdotCom Actually I stand corrected, it is 3 Channel. The planes I had looked at to check had been modded and had ailerons added to them but out of the box they are 3-channel. Thanks to RCcanuk for catching my error.
By putting this in, you are showing yourself to be a (lowered defication). You don't even know the product you are selling. On top of obviously NOT having ailerons on this video, I just bought one today and it is NOT a 4 chl plane. I am in the process of cutting in ailerons so it is more than just a huge trainer
It looks like a nice plane but quit (male bouvine deficating) people who want information
Using a motor has no sense of accomplishment--They believe they can skim through life doing the absolute least amount as possible; its their life philosophy. Few of this type ever change (they see no need in it) so trying to alter their thinking is just a waste of your time as well as theirs.
I want ease my way back into rc (Used to fly a WOT4 nitro) so thought about flying electric for a bit more sedate flying. Question. I wana buy a rad pnp and my old radio tx and rx are a sanwa conquest, My Q is this. The reciver on sanwa uses a 4 pack of AA batteries, will I have to use them seprate from the motor power supply or can I use the main engine lipo to supply the reciver and if so wouildnt it be to much juice for it to handle?
The ESC has what's called a BEC, or Battery Elimination Circuitry, built into it. The ESC will provide all the voltage for the main motor along with all your radio gear so you will not need a receiver pack.
Ahh man thanks a bundle. Was worried I would need to install 2 bat packs & no room left + all that extra weight or worse fry my reciver. Havent been back into RC for quite some years and newbie to electric although I wont miss oil covered tempremental nitros although do miss tearing up sky with WOT4 but not the 3ft trench when it ploughs the dirt. Thanks again for help & cant wait to get my rad now.
Have had this Radian since it first came out and it is all Jim says it is and more. I have flown throughout the seasons too. No significant major glitches...awesome glider.
craig9080; his name is Jim and he is a very nice guy and most of us enjoy his presence in these videos. However YOU can go if you have a problem with him. Have some respect! "the old guy" as you put it could teach YOU a few things NO DOUBT. IF you make it to 'old guy' status you will look back and see what a fool you used to be 'back in 2009'!
Just bought the bind and fly version and using the DX6i with AR6200 receiver. The problem is that although the servos respond to stick input, the throttle will not respond. I am using default DX6i settings but have not been able to get the motor to run. The motor responds to battery connection and the four beeps are heard, but still no throttle response. Can anyone help???? The connection is in the throttle position on the receiver.
Make sure you're bringing the throttle all the way down to arm the motor properly. You may need to adjust your sub-trim to make sure that it's doing what it needs to do.
Thanks for the advice. I discovered that, for some strange reason, when I pulled down on the throttle, the ESC would arm and the throttle responded beautifully. I do not have to do that with my other 7 planes, just this one. I did adjust the sub-trim and that seemed to work as well...just not sure why I had to do that with this plane. No worries...happy as heck that I can now take her into the air. Thanks again.
will the transmitter from this work with my blade msr and other dsm2 models
i plan on getting this and then the bnf parkzone mini mustang in the near future, i also want to convert my PZ decathlon BL to dsm2 by changing the receiver. im loving the big wing glider look
I love this plane when the propeller isn't breaking (two times in about 10 flights). It does some real damage. When it is not grounded for repairs, it is a dream to fly. Its a little squirelly under power, but with mine I have found that it porpoises when out of a thermal, but when in one it becomes rock steady (I like it that way because it basically tells you when it is in rising air) and I have had trouble getting it down which is a nice problem for a glider. JUST FIX THE PROP ISSUES!!!!
They have fixed the prop issue and are sending replacments for free. The new propeller is marked 9.75 x 7.5_1. Just go to the radian page on the parkzone website and click the red "important product bulletin"
You can't beat the radian for versatility. As the video states, you can launch from areas like ballfields or small park areas. After you've learned to fly it (I'm pretty much new to gliders), you can land it in relatively small spaces, but I'd recommend a large area for first time up. I refer to this plane as my Zen flier since it's much different than flying full-powered aircraft. It's just a neat flyer, chasing the buzzards. It does handle variable wind conditions well.
Before flying it, REPLACE the stock prop! It WILL break (check RCgroups for more info) and trash the nose or result in a crash; very good plane otherwise :)
Is this a harder to fly airplane from the Firebird Commander 2? I know its a sailplane but i saw it on HobyTown USA's website and it seemed interesting. It looks like a good plane but is it worth the money?
You know when I flew the Radian I knew that the flight experience reminded me of something but couldn't put my finger on it. It does fly a lot like the Commander 2 which was my second plane. The major difference is obviously the duration that it flies. If you can handle the Commander 2 I'd say the odds of being able to handle the Radian is pretty good.
this is very similar flight style as the firebird range except it has much more lift from the huge wings
if you can handle a firebird phantom which is a 3ch model this should be a breeze, just remember the prop is on the nose so if you dive it into the dirt you most likely will break the motor and prop
also this will have far greater flight time as it flys well without motor input, get it out in 10-15mph wind and it will float about all day :)
RC, it is not about aerobatics or high performance. The challange is to keep yours in the air longer than your buddy with a simple 20 second motor run, or spot landings or longest HANDS OFF flight. It will literally do 5 minutes with the TX laying on the ground while you work on your other models.!!
Park and all, there is no need for a bigger battery. It will achieve soaring flights well over an hour duration with no problem on the 1250 pack. I got 33 minutes on Saturday with one 20 second motor run. Soaring with Turkey Buzzards and I found the thermal!
About 7-9 minutes but that's really not what the Radian is designed for. The thing is with the motor on constantly you're going to need a ton of down elevator just to get level flight. It's a sailplane, designed for off-power flight.
The Radian is a really GREAT flyer! I've flown R/C for 40 years and this plane is absolutely the easiest-to-fly and best performing ship for the money I've ever seen. Novices learn really quickly (with qualified help, of course) and usually are competent to solo in two flying sessions or so. The price is a bargain with either package (with or without transmitter) and is truly a complete package. Five Star recommendation! This ship is a "crossover" which allows park flyers to advance too!
The RTF includes everything you'll need to get up and flying. Radio, battery, even the charger. With the PNP it's just the plane with the servos installed. This is good if you already have a transmitter and receiver and batteries.
I have this plane and really enjoy it. I am experiencing some new movement on it. The plane tends to dip down and then go up, like a boat floating in the ocean. Does this mean the CG is off? If so, what do you receommend or is this another issue? Your help is Greatly appreciated. Thanks-Tony
Depending on how much charge it has in it you should have a fully charged pack after 30-60 minutes. Obviously the more discharged it is the longer it will take to recharge.
I have this Parkzone Radian and it flies very stable. I have flown it 12 times and it doesn't even have a scratch. I consider myself a novice flyer and this is very easy to fly. I took it out into heavy winds yesterday and I was shocked how it cut through the wind when I needed it to. I get about 25-35 minutes on each charge easily. I highly recommend to beginners and expert flyers. Now I am going to buy the Parkzone Corsair.

Is this plane best flown in wind?....or would the wind make it harder to fly?

@parkzonecorsairtips High winds tend to blow thermals away and can make flying a sail plane difficult.
