This game should have been in hockey town. As a matter of fact, at the old tiger stadium before they tore it down. What a last event that would have been.

Good game great crowd.. lol when will the home team win for once lol. well i hope tey do this every year its like there superbowl where you watch one game outside on new years the first game in any sport to ring in the new year. and a great winter classic will be Bruins -v- Canadiens at Fenway Park or Rangers -v- Devils at Giants Stadium big crowds will be in the stands good for sports.

I hope Gary Bettman does not screw this up and place this game in a sun belt city ie LA, Dallas, Phoenix, Tampa, etc.

No offense to those cities but it would be weird & gross to say palm trees in an outdoor hockey game.

Keep it in the Northern US or even Montreal, Toronto(Rogers Center Skydome)etc.

I am not a Big NHL fan but i loved the outdoor games.

FYI. I hear the 2010 game was going to be either Fenway Park or the 'big house' in Lasning, Mich near Detroit. Can someone confirm?

@USAGiant : Oh you can bet that Gary Bettman will screw this up because there is talk that next year the Winter Classic will be at Cowboy Statdium in Jerry's World - Jerry Jones is promising a crowd of more than 100k for an NHL Winter Classic Game. So yes Bettman will screw this up big time.

I wish there would be a winter classic in Minnesota because that state is hockey crazy.

If Bettman and the NHL wants to have the NHL all star game at Cowboys Stadium that great. However like playing a baseball game on New Year's it will destroy IMO on what makes the NHL outdoor game so great.

I agree why not Minnesota at say Target Field, Buffalo again, Citifield in NYC home of the Mets or even at the football stadium at Penn State would be other great choices.

Yankee Stadium should be next but I hear the Yankee at least for next few years will host a bowl.

@USAGiant I would like to see a winter classic at Beaver Stadium that would be awsome -- but with pens playing two winter classic games and flyers playing last year I don't see it happening anytime soon.

However, I cant understand Bettman did not put Winter Classic the year before the original Yankee Stadium with Rangers Vs Flyers. I would like to see Montreal Vs Toronto in some sort of Heritage Classic Also.
