  • You are the greatest...when are you getting a TV show?? :) You have a knack for the camera!! About that pepper plant...did you happen to grow them in separate areas or next to each other? Just wondering, because sometimes I have a plant which is infested with some bug and another plant, which is identical, is not infested (but it grows next to plant which repeals the insect). Some plants grow better depending on what they grow near.

  • How do you avoid mildew when your germinating seeds in a green house type environment?

  • @OrganicGardenGirl3 Water a little less. Don't leave any water container uncovered. I've never had a mildew issue. Then again I never had a greenhouse. Hmmm.....

  • @Praxxus55712 it's not so much that i have a greenhouse it's just i have a hydroponic farm germination station and it seemed last year i had a major mildew problem. There was yellow mold growing on my peat pots, it was a horrible infestation. I am trying to avoid it this year, exactly why i am cutting down on the water

  • when do i start thee tobbaco seed ray

  • @bobinmissouri If starting indoors start it now.

  • You make my day Happier just watching you. Thank you very much!

  • Do you grow any Citrus trees?

Like lemon, orange, lime, clementines or tangerines ?

I have two six year old and two four year old plants but i have no idéa how to make them produce! The oldest are 40" or 1meter tall and live in a pot 16"/40cm wide.

I live in sweden and it's to cold and dark to have them outside for more than 2-3 months.

    Any idéa?

  • @ACupOfDuck I'm groing an orange and a lemon tree. They're growing exceptionally well indoors. The trees will produce when they have enough strength. In the spring give them a feeding and increase the light. This should help.

  • @Praxxus55712 Thanks a lot!

I'll try this and hope for some flowers soon :D

  • Ray, I sent you a link to a privated video of mine of me eating a piece of the Bhut jolokia, I would really like to see it uploaded here :D

  • @DarkTheShinyUmbreon I am unable to see your private video unless you reset the settings to allow me to view it.

  • @Praxxus55712 Ok, I just made it so you can now watch it

  • one thing about gardening you can do gardening so many different ways with good results..no set rules, however I try to give advice may not always be what others would do but then again it works for me.. end of the season I yanked my peppers off :P they'll be toast anyways in know time..

  • OMG it looks like it's raining sunshine in there, not fake light!!! Also are you retired, what did you do before? My neighbors chickens started laying eggs, there only 5 months. I hate living in this area, no sun, extremely expensive land, but here in CA it's NEVER cold enough to snow. The oldest chicken 6 1/2 months hasn't started laying yet.....

  • @techdude1876 Yep officially retired. I used to own a couple retail establishments and some commercial real estate. Too much stress.

My chickens started laying more eggs yesterday. I'm getting a few per day. It's fantastic!

  • orange?

  • I've got 3 bags of seeds in the mail today. I am so excited, thank you for the seeds and i hope i can get some nice plants out of them. They got here pretty quick by the way, too bad it's freezing here in The Netherlands, so i have to wait with growing things outside :(

  • Thanks so much for the seeds!! You're the greatest!!! I'm so excited to watch them grow! And thanks to watching your videos all this time, I think they'll grow strong! :)

  • How much would u sell the bhut jolokia seeds for

  • @TheEdwinChannel If I get viable seeds I'll offer them free. I never sell anything. Please don't send a request in my email though. I'll definitely announce when I have enough seeds to send. I'm always happy to share. :)

  • I got Praxxatoes!! Thanks, Ray!!

  • Ray! I got my seeds. Thanks a million. Hope I can get those Romas to grow like yours. Will be taking pix of their progress and will let you see! Once again thanks! You rock!

  • Thanks Ray got seeds, that is the best thing that happen today. THANKS

I hope the Roma tomato takes over my garden.

  • Wow! Thanks for zee seeds ray! Now to find a pot to grow em' in.

  • Thank you so much for the seeds. I just started my little container garden and you have def. inspired me to grow a variety of fruits sand veggies. Also never thought about house plants until I subscribed to your channel. Thanks a bunch!

  • Just want to say THANK YOU FOR THE SEEDS!!! Got them in the mail today. Hopefully next year I will be able to send you some also

  • Just got the seeds. Thank you very much!

  • great video, when you save Bell Pepper seeds do you hang dry them like hot peppers? also how do you know if you won the seeds? have a great day

  • @SteveHarpster I cut them in half and set them on a sunny windowsill.

  • Got my tobacco seeds and instantly started germinating a handfulof of them. Didnt realize such a huge plant would come from such a small seed. Thank-you very much!

  • Are you drying those ghost pepper to have seeds for your seed give away?

  • @vermiman Naw, just drying them to replant. If all goes well I might have enough for next spring's seed extravaganza. :)

  • It looks like our man Praxx has a second job as a professional turkey wrestler as we saw in the start of this vid. Be careful Praxx Man those turkeys look dangerous.... LOL.. I'd like to thank you sir for all the tips you share. I wish I would have discover your channel long ago.

  • @drmikeyg You call it wrestling. I call it one heck of a fantastic way to get put in my place. :)

  • Ray, If I make a suggestion, string your peppers with monofilament fishing line....it doesn't absorb anything so it does not promote rot or fungus. Also, wear latex gloves with jalokias...they will come back to haunt you.......Jim

  • free food ???

what about the electricity bill ??

  • @theroden I grow the plants for the experience. peppers, tomatoes and other fruits are a bonus. Also everything is actually free. Youtube adsense income pays for it.

  • Wow your amazing !! thanks

  • Your pepper plants are so beautiful, just that is worth all the light you have. Thanks a lot for the tips about to preserve pepper seeds and happy indoor gardening!!!

  • can u send me a ghost

  • Do you have any info on care for a star fruit tree? You have inspired my family to start indoor growing and started a bunch of seeds!! We also went and picked up a few young fruit trees to raise. However, I can't find much info on "how to best" with the star fruit tree....

  • @Smithmomma Full sun, fertile soil and deep watering followed by allowing the soil to dry a bit. Don't let it try to produce fruit until it gets a good branching system and some thickness to the trunk or you'll be stuck with propping it up. I think you're going to find that it pretty much is like growing most fruit trees......easier than you think. :)

ps: Compost tea or just compost will give it all it needs in the way of feeding.

  • Awsome, I`m gonna watch trough all your stuff!

Is it OK to download it? =)

    Peace&Love from Norway

  • That was the most interesting and scientific ad I have ever gotten for growing green house plants. lemnatec... >_>;;;

  • It says "ratings are not allowed for this video".

    So here .... Thumbs up!

  • what a great video, Ray. Really. One of my favs ever. just so infromative and clear and fun. I really learned a lot. Thanks!

  • That's one way to gather your seeds. What I do ('cause I want to eat my peppers fresh) is remove the seeds and put them between to paper towels. I'll pile them up on a shelf and let them dry up for about two weeks or until the seeds are completely dry (when folded they snap like a biscuit). Also how you store them has a great effect on whether they germinate or not. Seeds prefer cool, dark and dry places and therefore they should be stored in a ziplock back with a few grains of rice.

  • Hey you know what Praxxus? You have a ton of plants inside and thus you must have some unwanted visitors from time to time. You know, insects and what not? You ought to do a video about how to defend your garden!

  • Those peppers are beautiful!

  • The real problem is not eating the pepper, the real pain comes later and you can not show that on youtube.

  • great lookin pepper plants ray, cant wait to see how they do this summer

  • How do you sprout your seeds? can i sproutt tomato seeds by just putting them in a pot with some soil?

  • Your setup is a lot like what "I" want to do... just have to convince Amanda... lol... -Randy

  • @GettingThereGreen Doesn't Amanda know that You're da boss? :)

  • @Praxxus55712 LOL!!! yeah, I don't really want a big lighting structure in the house LOL. I'm just trying my best to take advantage of my window light - but I forget to open the curtains every morning before work! ~Amanda

  • @Praxxus55712 Ya right! Men are just made to believe they r the boss! LOL! It keeps us in control!

  • @Praxxus55712 Yeah really... I should probably remind her... I'll let you know how that goes! ROFL!!! -Randy

  • Ray do you plant with the almanac or do you just plant whenever indoors? An old farmer got me into the almanac, every since then I have had about a 90% - 95% germinating rate on whatever I put in the dirt either outside or inside. I had to say if you are a real gardener the price of lights are not going to stop you from growing... Also I found it interesting my hen laid 3 eggs between yesterday and today, the kids and I were so excited!!!

  • @1gotgoodz Give that hen a trophy!! Holy cow! LOL

  • I don't blame you for not eating one of those hot peppers. :) I haven't grown any that hot yet but I couldn't imagine trying to eat one. Thanks for the tip on clipping the leaves. :) I haven't tried that yet but will.

  • There's some great tips n stuff, thanks : ). I hope you washed the crap out of your hands before peeing. I've been messing with habanero's, washed my hands, and I guess a little oil stayed around my finger nails & it lit my junk on fire for 30 minutes and there's not a damned thing you can do to stop it. It's like hell for your giblets.

  • @tblbaby I've done the nads-on-fire dance a few times. Entertaining but not fun at all. :(

  • YAY RAY! Yeah, that is what I screamed when I got the mail yesterday! Thanks so much, you cutie lil man, you! I'll be starting my seeds now that the collection is complete.

  • Great tips as usual. Thanks. How were your fingers after this?

  • I got my seeds already. Thanks, Ray!

  • Its fun to grow food indoors but it 's not free by a long shot.

  • @BESTBBQDUDE If you don't use growlights it is. :)

  • @Praxxus55712 I can't do it without the lights. Can you? lol

  • @BESTBBQDUDE BTW good info

  • okay so the pepper i cut up for dinner and the seeds i save prob. wont germinate properly cuz they didnt dry within the pepper?. ive tried that, and your right my seeds never grew even after drying in the open air. but if i buy the seeds they grow. so is there something i can do with the fresh seeds? i hate throwing them away sometimes? thanks, hope you have time to answer, new subscriber, love your videos! very motivating! thanks

  • @lita9281 They will grow! I always save my pepper seeds from the store. Green peppers might not germinate because they might not be super mature. But you've got nothing to lose if you tkeep trying. I takes a little more than a week for them to germinate. Take the seeds, you lay them on a peace of toiletpaper, when dry plant-not too deep! And wait. Good luck!!! I promise, it will work!

  • @lita9281 Nothing you can do to make the seeds better unless the peppr ripens before drying. You can buy a red bell pepper which is a ripe green bell. Cut it in half, dry it in a sunny window and use those seeds. They have a better chance of growing.

ps: I always have time for a subscriber. If I ever get too big to reply, hit me in the head with a tomato. :)

  • Fantastic looking plants, I am jealous here. I think the sock monkeys could have been more in the limelight, the look as they were left out this time. Hey, you have some very nice fixtures in your videos that look vintage to me. In one of the next few videos that you will make could you give us a little tour of those, meaning the pieces that look antique? Give them a little mention of what they are and how you came across them .I and perhaps others would like to see more of them.

  • @HoschtonBoy It's just an old lookng chest. Not antique. It was made to look that way but is made from solid wood with no pressed sawdust. I love it as a potting table.

  • Great Video Ray! But what about the cacao?:-)

  • Thanks for the video! I would be very interested in your thoughts on the applications of cold frames and extending your growing window* that way.

  • @dprimetime69 Cold frames are a fantastic way to extend the season. Pinetar100 uses them. I liked watching him build his on his videos.

  • another good video from ray

  • Still love watching everyone of ur videos... which brings me to the point how come i never see any comments from you anymore on my videos :( lol.... just wondering, hoping its because ur just very busy with your channel, seed giveaway, etc. and not something i did to deter u from watching, lol....

  • @GardenNewbie I often get buried with what I do. I watch less videos when I'm busy. It blows but I have to make a choice to watch videos or answer 300 emails from friends/viewers, mail mountains of seeds, care for my Narnia indoor garden, give attention to my two rats...I mean dogs, feed the chickens, feed myself (I actually forget to eat), produce videos and sleep.

ps: YOU are the reason I'm growing a lemon tree. Your video was the inspiration. :) Thank you for that.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! (cool to see you're wearing the shirt by the way) My Straight Eight Cucumber has been ravaged by powdery mildew nearly since its germination (I had to toss its disease-infested siblings) and I'm so glad you presented a way to get rid of it! I think your method sounds really effective, and I'm definitely going to try it. I've exhausted a bottle of copper soap fungicide on it, and pruned the infected leaves off, but it's back in full force. I hope a lower-leaf pruning works! :)

  • @iunepeace My indoor cukes had that problem. Outdoor ones get it sometimes too. Keeping the soil dry REALLY helps. Don't you give up!! Don't even think about it. :)

  • Since I am a new subscriber, I missed out on the free seeds. Do you have any left? If not, I can easily buy some. Not a big deal. :)

  • @GreenBio0 There will be an event in the next few weeks. You'll like it. Tune in for details. I'll have you up to your chin in veggies in no time. :)

  • I missed the free seed giveaway again? When exactly did it start?

  • @gardenhaus313 Peek at voodoogardener dot com. There's a page called 'What's Ray up to now?"

I think you're going to like what you see. It's a bit of a secret. :)

  • I started some seeds a couple of days ago and my broccoli sprouted in a day and a half!

    What a mood booster!

  • I got my seeds today...THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  • Love the video!

  • Another great video!

  • Will pepper plants produce year after year if you overwinter them? I have a new Fatail pepper and a Carribean and Habenero from last year that are looking fine but producting nothing while inside. I think I might need to tickle the flowers a bit, but then again they are self pollenationg right?

  • @scottj719 I've overwintered pepper plants and they do just fine. They like a bit of a dormancy but after the rest they jump back up and dance like mad. I'm not sure about the self pollinating thing. They might be. Does anyone here know?

  • Is that an egg in your pocket or are you just happy to see us?

  • You might like this trick, my seeds will germinate from my peppers and tomatoes.

When I am dicing up peppers and tomatoes in the kitchen, I put those wet seeds onto a paper towel. The paper towel left in open air, will dry those seeds for me.

Leave space between each seed. For the tomato seeds with that goop on them, mash the goop onto the paper towel and slide the seed to a dry spot.

    Works like a charm!

  • I am having problems getting seedlings to germinate indoors, because I can not afford to heat my home.

It is too cold indoors for the seeds to germinate.

This is the first year that I had this problem, and electricity is about to go up again.

  • Great tips. I'm curious, how long can a pepper plant live? Can it live for more than one season if you bring it in for the winter?

  • im glad you posted a Video I was wondering when you were gana post one Great info learned alot! and thats just peppers

  • Hi Ray i raise chickens, my chickens lay eggs two years in the row without molting. Now the secret is light, you must have light on at night a 40wt is enough now when the days are longer you do not need light. It has been a while i think you start in June just Google it.

Best behave, and layers are black star chickens. I never grew water melons or cantaloups are they hard to grow? Thanks, are you really going to eat the hottest pepper in the wold?

  • Hot pepper madness, even jalapenos will soak their hotness into my fingertips!

  • You still remember the Sunflower challenge? :D

  • @iShrimpEater I'm gonna plant one today and see if it grows indoors.

  • Thanks so much for sending me the watermelon and cantaloupe seeds Ray! I'm so happy to receive them today. I'll be planting them in pots next week -- I can't wait until harvest!

  • Thanks for your videos. I have some containers that are 3" dia and 12" tall. Do you think its possible to grow pepper plants in something that small? Its just a project idea I have, possibly hanging them upside down.

  • @BufirdMauhaney I would say try it.

  • @Ray: Don't say I didn't warn you about the bhuts =) They can hurt so bad it's almost unbelievable.

    -Guillaume

  • @billyboy4 Did you notice the peppers on the right are longer and have a thin tip? The ones on the left are blunt and shorter. They look different but were grown from the samebatch of seeds you sent. Weird huh?

  • @Praxxus55712 I've had the same thing happen, sometimes I'll even get those two different shapes of peppers on the same plant. To be fair though, sometimes bell peppers or even tomatoes act like that.

  • I got my coffee plant from Stein Gardens and Gifts for 5 bucks! And about 4 plants came with it. Star fruit tastes citrusy and lemony but sweeter. Its hard to describe though.

  • So I bought some seeds a few months back from a company that said they were Bhut Jolokias but now that my plant has fruit set and they have started to get bigger I don't believe they are. The Funny thing is my plant leafs look very similar to yours just the fruit is not as bumpy and pointed has yours :-( Guess I'll just have to wait and see the final product. Can't wait for more videos sir.

  • Another tip to keep away fungus gnats & fungus is to put a good layer of sand on top of your pot..it discourages fungus & gnats & probably blight as well..I learned this off another YTuber who seems to have a green thumb to be so young. Can't remember her name though, sorry..I got "old timers" LOL.

  • hi ray i got your seeds today thank you very much you and Luke are awesome thanks guys

  • i barely could handle a ripe jalapeno a bhut not a snow balls chance in hell

im sure kohler is the one that bred the peppers so people would melt their toilets lol

  • @MajorRager76 That's just nasty....yet oddly hilarious!

  • Ohhhh and Ray, if I want to grow pepper seeds by a window that gets direct sun for half a day, will the seedlings get leggy? How do I fix that problem if the only way to sprout seeds is by that window?

  • @Incredibleisaac2 Direct sun is what keeps plants from getting leggy.

More light = less leggy. Math made simple. :)

  • Ray I have a question... Does this method of saving seeds also include bell peppers or is there a different way to do it?

  • @Incredibleisaac2 Bells should ripen to red on the vine. Their walls are too think to dry like this. I suggest cutting them in half before drying. That'll work like a charm.

  • If you send me a fresh pepper I will take a bite out of it!

  • Whatever happened to all the little turkeys?

  • @spellerito1 They're living at the home I moved from. The new homeowners love them and treat them like family. :)

  • Can you dry the peppers in a dehydrator or will that kill the seeds?

  • @Thesmalltowngardener My dehydrator is too hot. A low temp one would definitely work. Great idea!

  • dont forget to lick your fingers.hahah

  • Ray! Yes I am so happy another video! Now, I will watch the video (best for last)

  • 10 minutes and already 40 views! amazing!

  • First yes
