What a dumb assumption about "consumers"!! No, when I buy a car in this segment, I AM thinking about whether the handling is good, and NOT whether it makes me "look sexy". What a fool.
@BlueJalapenoMan - Firstly, I thank the stars that I am not a "typical consumer", but secondly I get worked up because it's fools lke this that give perfectly good cars a particular image, which he is doing here: i.e. SLK's are for vain airheads more concerned about their image than real driving pleasure. If you're happy to be assocated with that image, good for you...
@marpetpet I understand your point and agree with it but he was not telling every person that has come across this video that they are a typical consumer, he was just making a general statement. This is a gorgeous car, though.
Mine arrived 2 weeks ago and after nearly 1500kms I can say that this is awesome and in my opinion the best in its class.... I have had over 20 years race experience in Europe and now have the only one in the northeast of Brazil.....yu could say that I am well pleased...Well done Mercedes.... I can't wait for the new AMG C-Class Coupe to arrive which I also have on order...
No. If you were at the track every weekend, and you want a convertible, you'll buy a miata or an S2000. Otherwise, if you still want to spend $60K, you get a Caiman S or a 1M.
@LlamaTheory if u kno anything about the s2k ..u wud kno they were purposely designed that way..and most s2k repeat buyers and enthusiasts like the snug cockpit feel...its a track car...also designed to drive like a civic...but very capable pushed at limits..wen it first came out...0-60 in 5.4 sec...porsche had to step up...thats hardly underpowered...specially for a 4 cyl...u just dont kno how 2 use a track car..they are tough 2 drive
@rsxzx6r They aren't tough to drive, they are actually great driver's cars. But again, they have no torque, and your quoted 5.4 seconds 0-60 is a bit... optimistic. S2000s are just rather shitty at being roadsters, and that's why I completely agree with the video review. If Honda had made the S2000 a coupe, and given it an engine with real power, and marketed it as a track car... then it would probably still be in production.
@LlamaTheory even the pros say its harder to drive than most...because of the low torque..altho very capable its not forgiving below vtec in the corners..u have to heel toe more...aka kno wut ur doing...and "being a shitty roadster"?...it has won car of the year consecutivly by pro reviewers and won survey reviews on top gear by consumers..and it was in production for nearly a decade almost unchanged..built as anniversary car from ground up
@rsxzx6r the s2000 was a raw car, it was for the younger crowd. the younger crowd also does not have a lot of money. the s2000 was too expensive for the intended customers. the s2000, integra, nsx, they are still very popular cars, of course second hand. yeah, the car was not necessarily a lux car, but it was the best roadster. the defintion of a roadster you have idk.
That was a pretty good review. I liked it. Really brought to attention what the potential buyers are likely looking for. It's obvious to us car people, but so often videos get spammed from dumbasses that think 0-60 is everything or exclusivity is everything... you tell them before they get to show their dumb comments. That's good! lol.

Agreed, the 3 that I've seen were driven by ladies in suit. Regardless, it's still gorgeous as hell. If I had the mula, that's the only Merc I want.

I never thought Merc could take over BMW & Porsche by a landslide in Roadster segment as far as city driving goes. GOOD LOOKING CAR
ONE MORE TERRIFIC REVIEW by the 'TheDriverSeat'.
I would just buy the Merc, however, I would wait a year before doing so for the car be prove itself QUALITY WIse.

@tanxu My experience driving S2000's is that they are good in the corners but are horrendously underpowered. Oh, and the interior is tiny and awful.
LlamaTheory 6 months ago
well, im a short azn who doesnt need a lot of leg room. for 60 k u would get a cruiser? at least get the Z 4 or boxster s.

s2000 looks bland in pics, but in person, it has an understated "sexiness" to it. It'd fit me perfectly.
