  • Nice neat work, Good Job!

  • @AntiqueRadiodoc - Thank you!

  • I have this exact tv. I would like to sell it. if anyone interested

  • Wow... Very sexy Muntz. Makes me wanna restore the Muntz I have from my aunt's house.

  • Holy Cow, Your Fox is on Channel 2? I thought they were on UHF everywhere except NYC and LA

  • I was wondering if one of these converters would indeed work with an old black & white TV. You just answered that question. Thanks.

  • You are a wizard at restoreations

  • @tonstad39 - wow, thanks!

  • @Amad @Rich - Thanks for the compliments. The TV is malfunctioning again since I created this video. Time to drop in some more parts!

  • Isn't that something else! You should be quite proud...I'm just amazed by all the work that went into converting your old television into a workable receiver. As a side note, you have a VERY good speaking voice--and that shouldn't be underestimated. A pleasant speaking voice goes a long way toward making subjects which may not be understandable to some individuals, become much more engaging.

  • Great looking and working old set, I just love seeing these old babies restored. Such a pity that so few of them are being restored and how so many are used as merely decorators objects.

  • That TV has a nice sound, During Who wants to Be A Millionare and the local news.

  • you have 55 yo ???

  • the charms of old tech and a great job

Pity we don't get knee level frontal video shots of the entire tv set

  • It is fun to hook up this old tech to new toys.

I have my cell phone hooked into my land lines at my house through a docking station. So when you pick up any of my "antique" dial phones in the house, you are actually making a cell phone call.

    Backward compatibility, baby!

  • the converter box does it make old TV pitcher clear in hd

  • A hundred fifty dollars worth on parts ..well spent ! Excellent restoration job. In today's disposable world, it is great to see these old sets come back to life.

  • I loved the video

  • I have the same exact Muntz TV! It is the same model and has the same mahogany wooden finish. The only difference is that mine has doors that open to reveal the screen. I love to sit down and watch TV Land or alien movies from the 50's on it!

  • If I had one of those, I would:

    1. stock-up on all of the tubes that it uses (in case one goes-out).

    2. Use it as my primary Telly, because I like older Tellys more than new ones.

  • I saw a Rayothon vintage tv set for 499.00 on ebay.I'm a big fan of these tvs

  • If you left the letterboxing on, then you wouldnt have to worry about the image getting cut off by the rounded tv.

  • i have a muntz tv set with record player in one unit or both built in together console...would like to sell it

  • If that profile pic of you is real, you are HOT!

  • Hey, that's really cool! I'm sure under your care, it'll be buzzing away in another 60 years :)

  • I have a 1954 zenith tv I put all new tubes in and replace all the paper capacitors and it work like new I hook my to cable oh by the way I like your a lot it cool to have.

  • Where did you purchase your new capacitors. I need quite a few. :)

  • -- but is better if you use it with cable or satellite.

  • Cool video! The pop-ups were a really nice touch! There's just something about vintage TV's like this that give class to any room.

  • Thanks for your comment!

  • i have the same muntz chasis! the only diff. is my model has the doors on the front that cover the set. saved it from a dumpster! haven't gotten around to finishing it yet, the magnavox is first in line. have a raster on the muntz so it shouldn't be to bad to fix. love to see these old sets restored and not dumped! keep em' glowing!!!

  • great job great classic tv

  • thanks! I appreciate the comment!

  • I live in St. Charles, I can get 2,4,5,11 and 30 with a VHF antenna however I have to move it around to get a signal with 4 being the biggest pain to deal with. For some reason the UHF antenna didn't seem to work any better for me.

  • Where I live, channel 4 is a pain as well.

  • I love the retro tv! Thanks for sharing.

  • as for somewone who achualy lives in St. louis a rabbit ear "VHF" antenna will not work well to recceve digital stations because 90% of dtv stations are UHF meaning you need a UHF antenna like the old Loop antenna. And in St. Louis they are all UHF. That is probably you aren't getting many stations.

  • I love 35 miles from St. Louis...I need a roof antenna. Thanks for watching!
