Magnus tried to warn the emperor of horus' treachery in the fastest way possible which is sadly sorcery, and the thousand sons only used sorcery for the good of the imperium.
However the space wolves were following the emperors orders, but because they hate sorcery so much they desided to destroy prospero once and for all for the good of the imperium

Thousand sons sounds like it should be very interesting. Magnus is one of the primarchs I'd most like to know his part in the horus heresy.
