I got a letter the other day from a friend who's 80 yr old mom is afraid to go to her townhall meeting for the first time in her life. She would like to ask some questions and does not have a computer. I don't know if she is a rupub or a dem all I do know is that it is wrong for anyone to prevent her from being able to get information at a townhall meeting regardless of what side of the aisle they are on especially when she is being told the government is going to kill her etc..

The current legislation is more about controlling every aspect of health care than it is about helping the sick/poor. If one takes out the parts about helping the poor/sick then the bill would be about 5 pages long, not 1018.

If we as a people want to ensure the health of the poor, then let us do that without destroying health care choices for the rest of the population.

Actually, that statement has nothing to do with what any republican(or anyone) has said. Rather, it is what is in the bill, as I have read a significant portion of it(ie. independent research).

Why don't you read the bill, you don't even have to go beyond page 170 to get a feeling for how much government wants to desperately control every aspect of health care. The current bill wants to destroy option, not expand it. Let us craft a better one, no?

Actually, I am not afraid of a public option. I support a public option as long as it is an option and not a mandate. The public option within the bill is actually its best designed part, but it still need minor modifications.

I know it is a lot to read the bill, but if you did you would realize that government is dictating all plans(public and private) conform to 4 plans designed by SG and CBO. In the bill the government has power to dictate the terms of these plans.(out of space, but its ok)

100% false again, There IS NO public mandate. The only thing that can bbe interpretted as such is a clause that makes it illegal for a insurance to deny you coverage because of a preexisting conditiuon. a move thatb the insurance companies ACTUALLY WELCOMED.

I didn't say the public option was a mandate, I said it needs work. What is mandated is the terms of coverage in such a way that they must conform exactly to either the basic, enhanced, premium, or premium-plus plans designed by the SG and CBO.

PS: It is irrelevant to me what the insurance companies are for or against.

Additionally, what is the hurry to rush home a bill that won't go into effect until 2013?
