Don't block/ ban me! IMO the 'raw' afro is just out of style, ur cute and pretty but its kinda the cute and pretty back in the jackson 5 era. I personally find a modern afro should look a bit edgy..... chunky, twist/braid/bantu out or woke up took my bonnet off and rubbed some moisturizer thru it, i find thats when a solo afro is at its cutest ( i have a zigzag pattern, no sign of a curl, wiry, combs will be mauled type of hair and i rock a head held high afro everyday, almost :p)
I think like with any hairstyle it can go out of style. Like for white people the Farrah Facette flip is real not hitting anymore UNLESS you update it a bit. I've seen some fabulous fros on Youtube updated by it being a twist out fro or frohawk or other tricks. Throw a flower in it, don't make it so perfect. Rough it up a bit for some edge. My opinion!
@crown4glory, I agree. I'm just going to say it, back in the day day, sporting a fro like Nappilyevaafta, was like, you were the one, every one else looked up to!. It's beautiful the way it is, but accessories would make you look twice as nice.
Um yea, I believe you should go out with your fro. Just be you. I also have a fro and I go outside because I'm not ashamed. you can also see my afro fro video.

I love my fro. I stand out anyways being light damn near white with a blond fro but it brings out my black features.Now since I don't have that long flowing in the wind hair anymore, all you see is me.I feel more like an individual now.I feel sexier because not alot of ppl can pull it off.
It has everything to do with how you feel about yourself and nothing to do with what others see when they pass, because guess what, someone is going to look at you with or with out it, you can't please them all so work on pleasing yourself and when you look in the mirror with your fro set that inner diva free and let them have it queen.
I don't think sexy is a look, but an energy that you put out. If you went to Walmart bald, but hit those Ianes like they were a Paris catwalk, you will be giving them sexy.
chiiiiiiild, you betta work it! Nothing fits you better than what you were born with! you ARE sexy with the fro! look back at the first of the photos in the end of your vid- you are ROCKING it. get some fly ear rings and a hot mamacita top with your best jeans and pumps and you'll be FIERCE.
I wear my hair in an afro often and love it. What I find interesting is that I get compliments from white people often. A white woman in her sixties at work told me that my hair has been looking so beautiful and that my afro fits my face perfectly. She is always complimenting me about my hair. I love my afro and yours looks beautiful too. It fits your face perfectly. :-)
It's funny because when I see movies from the 70's, black women were rocking the fro because it was the style for that time. Remember Foxy Brown and her full out Sheba baby fro! She was bad! I think the fro is making a comeback and the more popular it becomes, the more comfortable women with natural hair will become wearing it.
Are you kidding me? You don't like it? You're crazy! It is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!! You go, sister! I rock my fro all the time and get many compliments on it! It is my fav. So many of us wear our natural hair in such a variety of styles that when we do wear a regular fro, it tends to capture people's attention. I get more compliments on my fro than any other style. You look gorgeous! It took me a while to get the guts to wear it out and when i did, got some surprised faces but they also gave compliments too. It's an eye catcher cuz not many black women wear it natural, especially a FRO! I love it and yes I wear mine to work too. It's a beautiful thing!

Ok, so how did you get your hair like that...ive been natural like an hour but i always have to blow dry for it to be out like that...usually it just coils into a short mini afro...
My hair is something special, and so is yours and all we can do is learn what works best for our hair type and go with that, for me to get this all i had to do was wet my hair and there it went. Your fro is nice! My husband loves mine, but i do get alot of looks when i wear it out so im probally not as cconfident as i should be and am more comfortable with something done to front. But im going to try to rock it agin soon with a different attitude!...Who cares if i love it

I rocked my fro out like that yesterday. I rented some movies, I went to the grocery store, and I went to the dollar store. I got alot of looks, but it was all good. I was quite confident with it!!!

Think about this: Nobody asks women with looser-textured hair whether they can be sexy with their hair. Why do black women with tightly-coiled hair still feel like they have to compete with other women in this manner? I say that I AM MY OWN BEAUTY STANDARD...and others can get on board or not! You look gorgeous my sistah, and that fro is perfect and beyond sexy! They need a new word for how sexy we look rockin' our fros in all their glory. A friend of mine said it well, if you aren't feeling it no one else will be. So if you just wear your hair in a fro and you're self-conscious that will be communicated in your body language. But if you ROCK that THANG people will stop, stare, comment, and be jealous!

It was easy really, all i did was took out my twist and sprayed it with water&glycerine mixed with oils and picked to shape. It went through all sorts of crazy stages but i worked , and worked til i got it to look presentable enough. LOL The next time i do it again i'll see if i cant do a tutorial for ya! Oh my goodness?!?!? Are you kidding me? In my opinion the FRO is the sexiest natural hairstyle there is....hands down! I hate that I cut my hair off due to a color breaking it. I can't wait to rock it again. I wore it in all of its glory 2 weeks ago and when I had hair I rocked it on the regular and not just to Target, lol!
p.s. I really hope folks will understand what I'm saying and not take offense. Besides once your hair grows out more, trust me, it will not want to stand up nicely, nor will it hold a shape like that. lol!

There is no way around it. I look at you and I see Angela Davis (which is not a bad thing but she doesn't even rock her natural that way anymore)
I'm going to tell you the straight up truth, lady! :-) Wearing the afro like 60's-70's is no different & no less outdated than sporting a high-top fade from the 90's or an 80's asymmetrical cut. It is a look that is defined forever in our cultural history.
So no. I will not rock the fro without parting it, accessories, etc. to make it look updated. I assure you it has nothing to do with sexiness. Pam Grier was & is still sexy, but wearing it today looks like a costume. :-)

You look gorgeous! It took me a while to get the guts to wear it out and when i did, got some surprised faces but they also gave compliments too. It's an eye catcher cuz not many black women wear it natural, especially a FRO! I love it and yes I wear mine to work too. It's a beautiful thing!

Im from Chicago and I wore my big fro to the taste of Chicago (HUGE event in the summer) n I got a lot of good responses. Couldn't tell me nothing cuz I knew I was looking good lol =) U gotta have that confidence when u rockin it b/c if u dont it wont look as good, b/c u'll lack swagger =) but girl ur bad, u better know it.

I know what you mean. I always start out saying that I'll wear "just my 'fro", and then at the last minute ( before I leave), I put in the head band to pull it back.

My hair is something special, and so is yours and all we can do is learn what works best for our hair type and go with that, for me to get this all i had to do was wet my hair and there it went. I think it looks pretty and eccentric. I don't know if I'd go anywhere but walmart like you said, but once I got used to it, I wouldn't care. It shows that you aren't scared to be who you are...that you're not trying to conform.

I rocked my fro out like that yesterday. I rented some movies, I went to the grocery store, and I went to the dollar store. I got alot of looks, but it was all good. I was quite confident with it!!!

Think about this: Nobody asks women with looser-textured hair whether they can be sexy with their hair. Why do black women with tightly-coiled hair still feel like they have to compete with other women in this manner? I say that I AM MY OWN BEAUTY STANDARD...and others can get on board or not! Define your own reality and let others catch up.

But when I was TRULY feelin' that look on myself I was more in love with my nappy hair and MYSELF than I have ever been in my LIFE! It is truly a journey - this natural journey - and I have to say I am still learning and growing in it. YES we can rock our fros and be sexy and you look MARVELOUS! A friend of mine said it well, if you aren't feeling it no one else will be. So if you just wear your hair in a fro and you're self-conscious that will be communicated in your body language. It was easy really, all i did was took out my twist and sprayed it with water&glycerine mixed with oils and picked to shape. It went through all sorts of crazy stages but i worked , and worked til i got it to look presentable enough. LOL The next time i do it again i'll see if i cant do a tutorial for ya! Oh my goodness?!?!? Are you kidding me? In my opinion the FRO is the sexiest natural hairstyle there is....hands down! I hate that I cut my hair off due to a color breaking it. I can't wait to rock it again. I wore it in all of its glory 2 weeks ago and when I had hair I rocked it on the regular and not just to Target, lol!

I'm going to tell you the straight up truth, lady! :-) Wearing the afro like 60's-70's is no different & no less outdated than sporting a high-top fade from the 90's or an 80's asymmetrical cut. It is a look that is defined forever in our cultural history.
So no. I will not rock the fro without parting it, accessories, etc. to make it look updated. I assure you it has nothing to do with sexiness. Pam Grier was & is still sexy, but wearing it today looks like a costume. :-)

Now remember, I live in the DC metro area, & we ROCK our natural hair here like no where else (ok, maybe Philly got us. lol) I *rarely* see people rock the fro plainly. Notice a lot of folks commenting are talking about adding flowers etc. But you asked if we'd rock the fro SOLO.
I have & absolutely will rock it w/ Flowers, headband etc. Not solo tho.
