How does Illinois not have a 911 operating system, each state has and 911 dispatch, here in iowa you cal 911 and if you on the interstate they get the call first and if you in a county close enough to the call center that countys emergency dispatch gets the call, each state has there own communication for emergency in which they can transfer the call over to other lea(law enforcement agencys)
The ISP receives 911 calls just like everyone else. The kind of calls they get depends on what district they are in. Northern districts get mostly interstate calls, southern districts have more of a sheriff sort of role. Local and county officers can call for assistance from the ISP and some troopers even have scanners to pick up local PDs radio traffic. So, they can back up other officers whenever they are close by.
@fndrjbass except for the state police, call 911, you will get a county or city dispatch center, if you need ISP they will transfer you, thats why when your on the tollway all the road signs say dial *999 because that will take you to the state police, but if you call 911 you will NEVER get the state police.
But even if Kendall County Sheriff Requested Assistance it would have gone through Kendall County dispatch, not ISP, officers dont generally request help on an IReach frequency, they would do it on their agencies frequency. Which is why its highly unlikely that he is responding to the same call as KCSO.
@efdexplr1: No 911 system for I.S.P.? Well yes and NO..I.S.P. has one but it for the cell phone users..If you call 911 on a cell it's forwarded to I.S.P.
Another thing I noticed..The yelp siren sounds diffrent compared to most in Illinois I hear..This one has a N.Y. tone to it sort of.
@efdexplr1 When I rode with a statie here in Illinois we responded to street calls along with the Springfield PD and SCSO, it's all dependent on what the trooper likes to do, really.

@efdexplr1 Actually State Police Respond To Alot Of Calls. State Police Respond To The Same Calls That Any Other County/City Department does. State Police Deal With Alot Of Traffic, But Also Of The Domestic Calls.

I doubt he was going to the same call as Kendall county sheriff, state police doesnt respond to calls really, no 911 system for state police
efdexplr1 2 years ago
Could have been an accident, and the dispatch (KenCom) put it out over IReach.
rykember11 2 years ago
True, I always forget that ISP monitors IReach, but its still highly unlikely.

He could have if that particular officer needed assistance.

@efdexplr1 what is your reasoning behind this? if there is no 911 system then how do they respond to traffic accidents?
