  • Dave Bowman loves his AEC's.

  • In malta at the moment we have hundreds of those but from 1 july onwards we are going to implement the arriva bus service with king longs ... NO more old ones ;'(

  • @mgarrbomberstm

That is awful that the old buses, full of character, will now be scrapped or just left to rot, in favour of the modern, souless vehicles. I`d love to have the money to save a few of the old ex LT AEC Swifts (SM`s). I drove them in the 70`s, when they were the most disliked buses on LT, but would love to see a few survive.

  • @mgarrbomberstm here's one tourist that Malta's lost for good

  • I have met the operator whose name is on the front of that coach. We agree that there is a serious fault with the AEC. Nobody makes them any more!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • moxon tours of oldcotes, notts had a aec reliance RDT89R.

  • is that a 680 engine?

  • @jaggass No Leyland made the 680 engine ! This is an AEC 760 engine.

  • @sopsax767 are these coaches still running m8?

  • @Cazkumali We still run 1 Reliance and a Regal III

  • What an insul t!!!!!!! 680 not fit to lace a 760's boots !!!!

  • Calm down. Its only a question i asked.

  • @jaggass + AliceeeVictoiaaa...... Easy boys they are both great engines Lol !

  • @AliceeeVictoriaaa Remember the DAF MB200 engine was based on the 680 Leyland engine.

  • @jaggass How dare you!!!! A far superior piece of engineering that should have been developed properly. Might have seen off Volvo if cash had been spent on PSV & Lorries instead of Allegro's and Princesses!!!!!

  • Well done mate, well chuffed for you..................almost as good as 6 numbers on a saturday night................can smell the engine from Ramsbottom.

  • @hamish1314 Lol thanks !!

  • well done ! what a beautfull coach

  • @TheDavidpayne Thanks. She will be better when she is finnished !

  • Best of luck with it, I can remember these from my youth, the AEC was one of the better coach chassis, they used to go very well too

  • Thanks. Yes the AEC chassis does go very well indeed, sadly we have found alot of rotten wood in her framework so it will still be a while until she rides again !

  • :-( not good sadly ! Took all the lower panels off to replace the bodybearers to find that most of the wooden frame work has rotted ! It's gonna be a long winter in the garage getting splinters Lol !

  • it's my dream to own one of these but can't find one anywhere!

  • I know where there are another 2 supreme 3's and a supreme 4 for sale. They are all AEC 760's and all need some restoration but are complete. One needs very little to put on the road 2 need some more involved work. All are £500 each.

  • Thats absolutely awesome mate. I love old style coaches like that, i'm only 21 so this was way before I was even born but I wish we still saw these old buses/coaches around more often!

  • Thanks glad you like it ! I'm 35 so these style coaches are part of my childhood. There are plenty still around in preservation and still doing some school bus routes too ! Get yourself to some classic rallies there are some lovely old buses around.
