Also, the three copoeira enthusiasts might me about to perform the martial art, but that doesn't mean they can act. They looked so disjointed and awkward it's unreal. Surely you (or the director) could pick that up when viewing this over. They dont act naturally. They force their acting, hence why the stuttering and slow delivery of lines during the talking scenes.
None apart from making sure we got a shot of the whole zombie hoard coming out, and the other director made sure we got shots of our main characters moving in and out of the scene, which you don't see in this video.
Basically we set the Capoeira teacher loose and let him direct, on the basis that we didn't have to use it, but it could be an opportunity to get an action scene into the film. We'll use what fits, mostly fight moves.
If you're looking at this from an entertainment view, then it might serve it's purpose (just).
But from a critical POV, it's actually one of the worst film shorts I've ever seen.
I mean, I know the actors (I.E. zombies) are keen amateurs but their timing and delivery were awful. If your an actor, you've gotta take one for the team if you want a good shot. Not one of the attacks actually hit them to add any kind of realism. Plus they hit just about every zombie stereotype in the book.
How many actors do Capoeira? No worries, it will be mostly just the fight moves that make it into Graveyard Shift. The video was for fun, for the participants. They enjoyed it, so it served its purpose.
Hey that was pretty good. Its too bad the video wasn't longer.. =( ..I practice capoeira everyday & I thought the choreography could have been better thought out. However it was fun to watch. Nice job guys!
Needs cutting--we spend too long watching them amble about making desultory conversation. Check out professional monster movies to see how they handle "monster approaching from behind" shots.
As the description explains, the video is for the enjoyment of the participants, and they loved it. The film will use a fraction of the lead-up, and some more footage that has interaction between our main characters and the Capoeristas. They get a video for fun, we get fun fight footage.

Did you (personally) have any input into this?

Credit goes to Rod, the guy in the blond dreads. He set it all up in less than a week!
The comedy level fits neatly into the rest of the film.

Wicked! Good job!

This is well done. I enjoyed the fun and comical feel.
Though what is with the subliminal frame before the credits?

Subliminal frame? There's nothing intentional. Glad you enjoyed it, that's the intent. :)
