  • she looks like she would be a fabulous jumper. is that where shes headed?

  • she has an amazing trot for a green broke horse. congratulations on successfully starting her. and it is the best feeling in the world to see somebody start a horse right, not just "cowboy up".

  • "cowboying up" is just a faster way to train a horse..its not wrong

  • WOW! she looks like she is heavenly to ride. Good Job! Great lookin horse u got there!

  • Wow...that was so good...Jewel is gorgeous...I was just wondering what steps you took to breaking her in from the beggining-just rough bullet point kind of thing. Thank you xx

  • Lovely!

    Well done!

  • unwritten by natasha bedingfield =)

  • just wondering....i have seen quite a few of ur videos and i was wondering do u like go to peoples farms or barns and train there horses for them?? and by the way ur an awsome rider..how long have u been riding??

  • she moves so like...flowy! I love her trot. She looks really good for just starting!

  • She has such an adorable, dainty trot! Looks like she will be a lovely, quiet dressage horse. Great job starting her out!

  • She's a 4-yr-old mare, and she still longes better than my 15 yr-old crazy gelding. Sometimes I think he was gelded late....

    :D adorable horse!!

  • fantastic job! one thing-did your stirrups look a bit too long, or is it just me?

  • Nice job. You have such a great seat and hands that you are making it very easy for her. Did you long line her at all or just lunge her? She's a very nice mover and such a nice attitude. You are to be commended for starting her right and quietly! Good job.

  • Thank you. Yes, I did a little bit of long-lining with her along with the longing.

  • Jewels at my barn is a whopping 17hh

    He 's an Ex racer. He's HUGE. And he has quite the attitude so you have to be careful D;

  • 0-0

My barn has a 4 year old Thoroughbred Gelding

    Named Jewels x3

  • o wow she moves pretty well youy should use her for dressage and other things that are in your mind she did very good for her 1st or 2nd backin

  • Was she a racehorse?

  • No she was not off the track - no race history at all. This is her first start.

  • Oh, because it's easy to assume she was a racehorse because she's a TB, and some racehorses retire at 4. And you said you'd been working with her.

  • No she is a future dressage star. ;D

  • Nice little mare. Looks like she has good movement in her shoulders. :) Good luck with her!

  • good job! i broke two of my guys (with a little help from a friend which u gotta have :P) and it is sooo rewarding!

  • shes looks lovely - shes really trying for you - I hope you will be posting more vids up :) with her progress

  • She looks more animated at the trot in this vid then the other one. She is also paying close attention to you. Looks like she has a very smooth trot. She seems to have nice impulsion even at this early stage in her training.

  • Unfortunately you don´t show how it started: mounting and first movements. We see:Your horse is doing extremely well, great forward movements. But one should also mention that that is mainly due to your way of riding her: very soft, very carefully!

Both of you seem to be fully satisfied: Your body language tells that you are happy riding her - but she is also happy with you as her rider! If you continue that work the two of you will make a matching couple!

  • Looks like a great first ride! You're doing a great job with her. How long did you ride her this first time? I know the video's only about 4 minutes, but I assume the actual ride was longer?

  • Yes the ride was longer, I was on her for almost 20 minutes. That includes getting on, being lead around a little, slowing moving into the longe circle, on the circle, changing directions, all to the point I get off. Most everything was at a walk of course, all trot that was done was what is on the video. Enough time to make progress and thinking work, but not too much to over-tax and push her too far.

  • So you're breaking her in? she's a pretty girl and looks like she's eager to learn.

  • Yes I am starting her and will be working with her further for her owner.

  • she is pretty is she still a filly like 3 yrs old?

  • She is 4-years-old.

  • kool i wish i had a horse. my dad is soo cheap!!! and he hates horses so that makes him selfish too bcuz that is one of the reasons y he wont get me one. whats color horses do u get along best with mine is light bay

  • wow!!!! all i can say is great job!!! u 2 really connect. Keep up the good work!!!! Btw. you have a good hand, and nice hand position and u maintained a good contact!!! Good luck w/ her

  • lovely soft seat! I'm sure this mare will be a great horse in the future
