@liamh1982 I supposed that's ultimately what's the video is about ;D, I think I originally got my stuff from Racketboy and maybe a few other online sites to figure out how to go about doing this.
Very nicely done, I feel like I'm afraid that I'm going to mess up my Saturn if I keep performing the swap trick. Oh well, I found some awesome deals on Cyber Troopers, so those have kept me pretty entertained when it comes to the Saturn for right now.
But sometime in the future, I would prefer to get a modchip, since I just got an official memory backup cartridge, instead of having to use my Action Replay 5-in-1. to play Japanese games ;)
I burned a copy of Megaman 8 for the Saturn and put it in my now modified Sega Saturn (Thank you) but the damn thing keeps saying "This disc is not suitable". I think I'm missing something here. Could you shine some light on the situation?
Honestly, i don't remember, but I'm going to assume that you can, it may be a BIT different, but I'm sure it won't be too hard to figure out if it actually is. If you need too, see what you can find online about it.
With the disc swap alone, no. If they're backed up games you can modify the region code with a patcher or a hexfix. If you'd like to boot legit imports, it would be easier to buy some sort of cartridge to do it for you. I recommend any of the Action Replays for the saturn, those are cheat devices, memory cards and they are also region unlocking devices. For a cartridge that just unlocks the region try what is called an ST Key. Online prices are usually 15-20 US dollars.
It's pretty much the same thing, except their images of the discs instead or Roms, also being images of CD roms, they're much larger than what you're most likely used to.
You have to make sure that the .cue file you're working matches all of the music in the game, try finding the Sega cue maker. also if they extracted the music, the music has to be in the right format, the sega cue maker should take care of it all. I'd be surprised if you didn't make a few coasters out of those CDs during your first few attempts at some solid burns ;)
Even now several months after burning games, I still get a couple lemons, some games just don't work so well with the swap.
Gah, "Yes I believe I used a free version"* I just checked, make sure you get 2.2.1 that's the version I use. I'm not sure if it's full featured or not, i haven't used an unregistered version in a while.
Thanks ever so much - this guide works with Model 1's as well.. The opening device is slightly different but your advice worked fine.. Now to figure out these games - I have changed the region codes, I can now only try and figure out which program to use to burn and which settings! Thanks again!
I've read many things such as don't burn higher than 2x speed, so I don't. I'm not sure if it affects it, but it's really not that slow anyway. Also, try Fireburner for burning .cue files that works best for me. If you run into a .ccd file use CloneCD, you may need to find outdated versions, they work a little bit better than the newers ones for saturn/playstation discs. Personally I use Fireburner the most. And as usual, googling how-tos or tutorials is the best way. It's how I learned.
It really wasn't too long after i posted the video. I don't play my Saturn too often, maybe once or twice a week if I'm lucky. But I do know that it's much better to get a Modchip in the long run. Which eventually I hope to do, but as of this point, I don't have the money, or the know how to buy, and install one.
Yeah, I'm ordering a modchip next week then I 'm going to twist the arm of my local repair guy to install it for me.. That should be in a week or so, until them Im going to use this method - I have a Model 1 which I understand are very hard to mod :S Thats a bit shit really, I hope there are chips available for it. I'm going to use your video as a guide to tape my SS up - I hope they are simmilar enough for me to do this. Thanks for the guide anyway!
thx man but i know how to do all this ,but i was asking for chema for the modechip and i find it ,thx for everything and if you want i send you the link for buy the mode chipe tell me ok its easy to installe
Thanks, Racketboy doesn't exactly make it clear where I was supposed to tape up.

Did you watch my video on how to perform a swap trick to get the game to boot?
I'm just going to assume the worst of this situation here.
If you're not performing a swap trick, this modification does nothing.
Please respond ASAP, I'd like to be of assistance.

So, i have a model 1 and a model 2, but i was going to give the model 2 to someone because the cartridge slot is broken.
I Need to know, is it possible to do this with the model 1 saturn?
