  • deja vu :L

  • i remember wen i was like 3 we found a rail road switch at the woods like at my house it was pretty cool

  • is railroad tracks a good place to look for scrap???

  • iron scrap... if you find enough you might get good money for them.

  • If you can find the location of the depot that's usually where you find the money.

  • @ 1:33 looks like an old motorcycle gear shift

  • You found some tie plates

  • Jim you better stop smoking it's sound like you're lungs aren't getting enough air.

And guess what ...if you do you'll save more money not buying cigarettes than you'll find with that metal detector.

And guess what you can't buy... a lung.

Even if you could you won't find a doctor who can install it, they don't replace lungs

  • I believe that the brass piece is part of an old switch for the tracks.

  • who makes the digger you're using in this video?

  • @Homesteadforge It was custom made for me by a guy in Idaho, but he dropped out of sight years ago.

  • HA! Sucked Ass!

  • Jim,

I was a motorman on a vintage streetcar and the item you have looks very similar to the handle for the sander on a trolley. The control handle, brake handle and sander handle were always assigned to the motorman who would carry it from car to car. The sander bin was located just in front of the wheel and the lever was pressed sand would drop on the track in front of the wheel thus improving traction. Looks like a perfect match to me. Great find!

  • @JAD5822 WOW, that is pretty amazing. I worked a rail car repair yard as switchman/ loco driver a couple of life times ago, never seen anything like it on modern trains. No brass fixtures anywhere....but this site is very old, I have it on rail maps back to the civil war. Thanks for the info!

  • thanks man I needed that I haven't been out in awhile. Good to see other people digging even if your not finding anything....HH
