Everybody speaks when they first receive the Holy Ghost at birth, but everybody don't have the gift of tongues in Corin. Jews, Gentiles, Samaritans all received it the same way. Paul was speaking to the church who already spoke in tongues when they were born again. There just wasn't an order in the church, because u can be filled over and over again. Corin 14:39.

You were incorrect on one thing you said, that the speaker knows what they are speaking. That is not true unless they themselves are also given the gift of interpretation over what they speak. Paul even said that one who speaks in tongues should pray that he may interpret, meaning that not everyone who speaks in tongues automatically has the interpretation.

here's a good scripture you should add to the description box.. 1 Corinthians 14:27 and 28 "If anyone speaks in a tongue, two--or at the most three--should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. Some of the words only mean to speak, or to speak negatively, or t positively, etc. Laleo means Any Sounds Emited from the Mouth such as Speaking, praying, singing, crying, groaning, etc.

Laleo is used in Ephesians 5:18 where we are taught to SPEAK (Sing?) in psalms and spiritual songs.

the only time i spoke in tongues was when i recieved the baptism of the holy spirit and i never spoke in tongues since then! Thats been 2 years ago from this day! The spirit never took over me in tongues in church or anywhere else too! It would be nice to speak in tongues so i can edify myself and i have prayed about it too and to be an interpreter and never got it!

The verse (1 Cor 14:27) clearly states that "if ANY man speak in an unknown tongue, LET IT BE by two, or AT THE MOST by three, and that by course; and let ONE interpret." Meaning more than one person will/should be speaking in that unknown tongue but NO MORE than three people; and that ONE person will be able to interpret the unknown tongue. I don't see ANY of this going on in churches. So, you're right, it is contrary to scripture in that sense.

The word, "interpreter" here actually means to be a teacher, one that explains what was actually preached in that language. It's edifying to the speaker of the language, the teacher and the hearer. There is no such thing as a "gift" of tongues, it's non-existent. The word "gift" is in italics, it's not inspired. All it means is that someone will speak in a different language, that's all.

Why do you think Paul would say, "he that speaks in an unknown tongue is speaking to God", in one verse, and then seven verses later, reduce this supposedly high level of communicating with God down to just speaking into the air?

The way the tonges are today in the church seems very out of order. The bible makes it clear that there have to be and interpreter present. Acts 2 gives a good description of how it was used. The way it's being used today is not the same in the bible. How can it be a personal prayer if we don't know what we are saying? Yahweh is not a God of confusion. It just doesn't make sense. We need to be careful that it's not a counterfeit . We must examine all the scriptures and pray for discernment.

You are right. The big thing that we have to be careful of nowadays is knowing what spirit is of Yahweh(GOD). Mark 13-22 makes it very clear these days. People get so caught up in the wonders of the world and miss the point of Christ Yahashua's purpose. Answer this. What is the purpose today of the tongue? Look at the purpose of it in ACTs 2. Speaking in tongues is a result of emotional outbursts caused by a great feeling of religious zeal. The person speaking in tongue fully believes that he/she is granted this ability by the Holy Spirit and utters whatever the brain translates into random audible sound. It sounds like gibberish because the brain doesnt know what "Holy Spirit speak" sounds like. It only thinks that it is an audible lanugage. It seems like you forgot 1st Corinthians 26 -33 Paul also set the record straight. If you don't have 2 or 3 there to interpret you must keep SILENCE int the church (28) and keep to himself. What part of keep silence don't we understand? 33 God is not the author of confusion.

interpretation is spiritual NOT physical. Meaning you will interpret through the spirit. Many people don't understand that, because they fear people who speak in tongues, and will not allow themselves to understand. U can be an interpeter yourself, (12 Corithians talks about the GIFT of the Spririt of Tongues interpretation). So when Paul says that, i'm just trying to clarify what he meant. Interpreters are not what we think. Interpreation is done on the spiritual level, not physical.

I didnt believe in it until it happened to me and now i know that speaking in tongue is real. But if you have the spirit of god in you, then you can sometimes discern who is real and whos not.

I do agree on that however I would like to know just how many people that speak in tongue really knows what they are saying for there are people that do understand that "tongue" and some have been known to speak the tongue of the devel to God and using this human as a portal. if you are praying to god, do it in private, if you cannot control speaking in tongues, you may be possesed, for god gives us freedom but the devil holds us captive against our will, or deceive us with our will. why not pray that you may be open to understand the people who need their souls saved and not the ones who are trying to correct themselves by speaking in tongues, you cannot help them nor can you interprit. tongue speaking is tradition these days just like circumsition in the old days.

Lets also keep in mind that "speaking in tongues" and "the gift of tongues" are two totally different things. The first edifies the Holy Spirit and the other is a gift of speaking an Earthly language to promote the word of God. I know that confusion can arise simply by the use of the word "tongue", but both instances (speaking in tongues, and "gift of tongues"...which needs an interpreter) are quite different.

This is a great video, small details are a little off (like intercessory prayer is nt praying for oneself) and the person who speaks in tongues does not know wht he is saying, if they did it would not be unknown tongues. Now, the person will eventually interpret what they are saying and they will not know they are interpreting or what. yea i know exactly what you mean, the pastor of the church across the street would speak in tongues and I got really uncomfortable because he made me sit upfront and everybody could see I had stage fright. He also made a smart remark about Mexicans because he thought I was Mexican...I took offense to it. The next time I went there was another pastor who preached, and he reached my spirit, he spoke in tongues about me receiving the revelations and knowing to escape whats coming.

Wonderful vid.  I actually enjoy watching people get moved by the Spirit. It's a beautiful thing. I've never been moved to jump up and down and speak in tongues but I do know when the Spirit enters me and one day it just might knock me out!
