Port Forwarding using a Linksys

I am trying to port forward Minecraft. I used to have Netgear and it worked find. I just got Linksys and it no longer works. I get the problem "The external port 25565 is conflict!" I don't know what to do about this. Can you please help?

@Anarcraft Its the Router Ip not his system IP and if he did thats why we have things called FireWalls to Prevent hackers :)

@g2zzal Did you set your router's password or is it still set to default? If you did not reset it, it is most likely still using the default username/password combo which you should be able to get from your routers manual. If you don't have the manual you can usually obtain it online through tech support for the router manufacturer. Also try using Internet Explorer if you're using a different browser currently to try and access your router's configuration menu.

If you've forwarded your ports in the router and applications are telling you the ports are still not open, you may have a software firewall that's blocking them from access.

with all the people that cant get into the website, you can just hold the reset button for 30 sec and the try to get in the website and you will be able to enter and change the password to enter that website.

@nutcrackerstudios Not sure what you mean by this. Keep in mind, some routers don't even have that category. That happens to be just the most common terminology on Linksys routers, but if you have another brand of router it may be under something different like NAT or Pinholes. If you're unsure about your routers configuration, I would suggest calling their tech support and let them know what you're trying to do. They should be able to at least tell you where you can find the info on how to.

If it has not been set to anything other than factory default, you should be able to find the username and pw in your routers manual. Usually something like admin admin or admin blank. At the back of your router there is a reset button... hold the pen in there..(it presses a button) and after ten seconds it should be normal again... but this time you havet oreconnect to your network from your computer... now when you do what he just did...... the username and password might be the following

@1nV1nC1Bl3BaLaM Regardless of whether you want to view the DVR just on your network or outside your network, you still have to assign the DVR an IP address on your network and forward the port at that address. You can choose an address from within the range of valid addresses given to you by your router and ping that IP to see if it is occupied or not. Once you find one to use on your network, you can assign it to the DVR, usually through the DVR menu or the router static routing table

@Vingi69 Well, your vulnerabilities are minimized by doing it this way. Essentially what this procedure is doing is telling your router to allow traffic on that port only for the device that's on the network at that IP, which in this case happens to be the DVR. Once they got into the DVR they'd still have to have the username and password to access it. It is as secure as any other device on your network.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by you don't have a real IP? If you do not have a high speed internet service and an IP address, you cannot view your DVR remotely.

then reset your router: hold reset and unplug router keep holding reset for 20 seconds and then plug it back in while still pressing reset. Then all you have to do is put in the password. (admin)

I tried doing everything you said in the video... but it's still not working. I forwarded UDP ports 6000-6009 and TCP port 7000, but when I test those ports with my Port Checker app, it says those ports are unavailable. I also disabled my firewall and antivirus, but it still won't work. BTW, I'm using a Linksys WRT55AG and firmware version 1.30 (the latest UK release). Any suggestions?

try adding ports though the exceptions under firewall: control panel/ windows security/ windows firewall/ exceptions (Tabs at top)/ add port. Thats what i did and it worked for me might for you.

This is addressed very specifically in the video. First determine your laptop's IP, Start, Run, cmd, ipconfig, write down your IP. Log into the router. Go to Applications and Gaming. Enter your desired port numbers. Enter the IP of your Laptop. Click Enabled. Go to the bottom of the screen and click Save Settings. Close your browser.
