Nah, USA were 40 years ahead by developing the A-10, which is totally adapted to modern warfare. F-22 is not.
Plus, it would be good if the aircraft could fly. It has accumulated problems since the beginning of it's development, and it has been grounded for more than 1 year and is going to be grounded for even more.It's the biggest "army-ready" failure ever, deal with it.
As a friend of mine said, "it's an engineer fantasy, a dream for people who like pushing buttons. But absolutely not a combat aircraft.
@tosa275: Good observation, the F-22 is a fifth Generation Fighter, the first! The Prototype's maiden flight was 1990, the second fifth Generation fighter, the Suchoi T-50 ( PAK FA ) Maiden flight was 2010. So... 20 years later.
F22 - the unflying mistake. F22s pilots spend more time on the ground than in the sky. Dangerous enemy for sure. Now I understand why the autor called F-22 as the silent killer. Grounded plane doesn't make any sound. ^_^
