I think the problems that need to be addressed more are about the laws, not necessarily what people can get away with, without getting in trouble. I heard you say a lot that it is a misconception that women cannot walk alone without a man, but your argument against that was that a lot of women walk without men, not necessarily that the law allows it.
This is a really cute video, and I think it's awesome that you ladiies are dispelling the awful myths about Saudi Arabia. I would like to visit Jeddah or Riyadh one day :) I would love to live there eventually with my children. Arabic culture seems gracious, pious, and graceful.

This video was good and entertaining. As a Muslim woman living in America I even find that I have to "fight" back notions that non-Muslims have about me ans Islam. Just because I wear the abaya and niqaab they assume that I am not American. Wrong, I was born and raised in America and converted to Islam. She'll find it difficult to go out "with the girls". Many restaurants will not allow unaccompanied women in.

If she has domestic problems, there is no network of support groups. Her family may help, it depends. Having got her married with some difficulty, they may be unwilling to take her back again.

Saudi women make up more than half of the population and only less than 10% work. This country is extremely segregated from restaurants to gyms to schools etc. Women are not allowed to drive or vote. Internet access is monitored and controlled. The list goes on and on. Saudi women have a lot of challenges in this country. Change is not welcomed by the Royal Family who governs Saudia. Therefore, don't continue speaking for most Saudi women. You are not representing the majority.
Your version of freedom is very limited. You have no real concept of what it is to have CHOICES in your life. Having choices is FREEDOM!!! This is a huge difference between USA and Saudia. i hate when people say that women wear the abaya to protect them from being harassed. I live in America and I wear regular clothes and i do NOT get harassed. I understand the concept of being modest, but why not be able to wear lose fitting clothes, pants or dresses. If a woman wants to be modest, i dont see why she would have to choose between the two extremes of an abaya and hooker boots. there IS a happy medium people. your telling me a regular blouse and some slacks wont do?

I think the problems that need to be addressed more are about the laws, not necessarily what people can get away with, without getting in trouble. I heard you say a lot that it is a misconception that women cannot walk alone without a man, but your argument against that was that a lot of women walk without men, not necessarily that the law allows it.

This video was good and entertaining. As a Muslim woman living in America I even find that I have to "fight" back notions that non-Muslims have about me ans Islam. Just because I wear the abaya and niqaab they assume that I am not American. Wrong, I was born and raised in America and converted to Islam. If she's very lucky, she can work in the "ladies only" floor of the Kingdom Shopping Center in Riyadh. She may well be wealthy in her own right, and own a business. However she can't manage it, if that would bring her into contact with men. She can of course walk to the shops. Try that wearing black artificial fiber head-to-toe, in temperatures up to 50 celsius.
She'll find it difficult to go out "with the girls". Many restaurants will not allow unaccompanied women in.

She can of course entertain her lady friends at home. That assumes her husband allows it. ### Many Saudi homes have bars on the windows, and the women are locked in during the day! - Read that last line again @UmmMaryum !!
If she has domestic problems, there is no network of support groups. Her family may help, it depends. Having got her married with some difficulty, they may be unwilling to take her back again.

@scalchas Take it easy friend. I am not critical of any "culture". I quoted a testamony, made by a Saudi on his blog. I gave the refrence. It is not my critique, it is his own. And certainly it goes against the mis-representations of the video here. I know very well what it's like for many women on the ground in the Mid-East. From personal experience. If I wanted to digg my nails in, it would read very differently. For a reality check, read the blog of "Saudiwoman". This video is dishonest.

As an outsider, who happens to care a great deal for a family living amongst all this, I am well able to offer my comments. Your objections are not warrented. Saudi women make up more than half of the population and only less than 10% work. This country is extremely segregated from restaurants to gyms to schools etc. Women are not allowed to drive or vote. Internet access is monitored and controlled. The list goes on and on. Saudi women have a lot of challenges in this country. Change is not welcomed by the Royal Family who governs Saudia. Therefore, don't continue speaking for most Saudi women. You are not representing the majority.

Your version of freedom is very limited. You have no real concept of what it is to have CHOICES in your life. Having choices is FREEDOM!!! This is a huge difference between USA and Saudia. Keep rattling on as you do on your videos. However, you do not speak about the real truth in your country. Even on your video, it shows how everything is controlled. If, a high percentage of women graduate with degrees, how come very few WORK at all?? Don't answer by saying they choose to stay home.

i hate when people say that women wear the abaya to protect them from being harassed. I live in America and I wear regular clothes and i do NOT get harassed. I understand the concept of being modest, but why not be able to wear lose fitting clothes, pants or dresses. If a woman wants to be modest, i dont see why she would have to choose between the two extremes of an abaya and hooker boots. there IS a happy medium people. your telling me a regular blouse and some slacks wont do?
