I think it's from Dick Tracey, although I don't remember hearing it in the film. John does it brilliantly here, but Liza Minnelli did it at her concert "Liza Live at Radio City Music Hall" and that is a wonderful performance. It was recently released on DVD.

Yes! Sondheim wrote a few songs for that film, one of which won an Academy Award that year I think.
