  • Damn, the dancing native on the bar was so fucking hot!!!

  • yes!! i had this game for my mac circa 1992 or 93? fantastic game!

  • ah yes, the BELSHAZZAR!

  • Hah, I remember this game. I think it came bundled with my first computer (a Packard-Bell running Windows 3.1.1). I could never get past the damn tunnel sequence...

  • I remember getting excited whenever we found a new drink to order + it was fun to annoy the cab driver by saying 'bub' back at him. Brain blast fizz!

  • I blame this game for implanting an early-sprouting obsession with 3D graphics and fondness for Blade Runner-like visuals in my head for the rest of my life.

  • Oh man, i forgot the name, all i remembered was Belshazzar. Very strange and interesting game.

  • Awesome! Thank you for doing this video!! :D

  • I had not thought about this game in more than a decade. I remember playing this on my family's old computer as a kid and loving it. Most of the really old CD games of that era were, well, horrible. But Spaceship Warlock always stuck in my mind as one of the fun ones. I think it was that it gave you more freedom to do things than one would have expected from a game of it's ilk.

Thanks for uploading this. It's a nice nostalgia trip. Wonder if I still have my old CD somewhere.

  • I remember getting this game in one of those collections of 10 cd-rom games. My dad and I were amazed that at the bar you can ask for a screwdriver and they make one. Also, you can tell the cabby "up yours" or something and he gets irritated. Such an amazing game.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this!

  • @lotar732 Pleasure. :) Very glad more people remember this.

  • Any chance of uploading the music to this game?

  • @TokyoDawn1984 How I'd love to... getting the raw music files is impossible without having a copy of Macromind Director (not even Macromedia!), but I can attempt to rip a few songs by recording them.

People have requested the music from this quite a bit, as with Robot City. Before I start a playthrough of Eastern Mind, I might do a series of music uploads.

  • Man, to think that there was a time when this was considered the height of CD-ROM technology. I remember playing this all the time when I was in junior high, must have been around 91 or 92 I guess, one of the first CD-ROMs right?

  • @madmadhatter Right on! As far as I know, this is the first full-color CD-ROM game. There were other CD-ROM games out, but this one was a milestone for the visuals/multimedia. Most people didn't even have color Macs at the time of its release.

  • I remember I could never get passed the part where you had to defend the Warlock.

What are you running this on, btw?

  • @unholyfirestorm Yeah, those parts are annoying...

I'm running this on DOSBox, which is running Windows 3.1 within this.

  • 1:15 Anyone else notice the cop holds his gun up exactly like the mugger does (1:49)? I betcha you can try to disarm him the same way and get yourself into all kinds of trouble! X^D

And what happens if in the bar (3:19) you literally order poison? Or you keep ordering stuff and your tab gets to be higher than the number of credits on your card before you pay it? Can you get drunk?

Man, now I want to play this game just to see how many ways you can die! X^D

  • @ChaosRayZero

I remember if you get something called "brainfizz" or something like that, you immediately become super drunk. If you were to keep ordering drinks until you got drunk, you'd get the same effect. Your sight becomes really blurry, and I think you can die from drinking too much, but I don't exactly remember doing that.

  • @duckythebigmouth I think if you get drunk the bartender makes you pay your tab and leave. Don't think it was possible to die from drinking.

  • @mrphelps546 yea, you're probably right... but I do remember you were able to get so drunk that your POV became extremely blurry. I used to do that way too much.

  • Any plans on showing a deathreel? Those're always fun to watch.

  • @RiotShield Absolutely. I always keep saying "Sure I'll do this x day," but real-life stuff like work and classes keep getting in the way. But since Day 1 doing Spaceship Warlock, I wanted to do a compilation of all the crazy death scenes.

  • I fucking love you man. I used to play this game all the time over at my friend's house when I was a kid. Good times.

  • This game changed my life.

  • Man, this game was so awesome when I was a kid. This brings back a lot of memories, both scary and fun! This game was like the grand theft auto of today lol. I'm really surprised at how good the graphics and everything are still when looking back. Most games that I played as a kid look so cheezy when i check them out as an adult. Thanks a lot for posting this!

  • Grr. This isn't the type of game you should be rushing through. There is so much to click on and so mane hidden interactive details to explore! Like the bar. They Coke, Pepsi, Water, 7-Up, Beer and even Champagne (Complete with cork pop!).

Like @0:51. If you click on the trash chutes, you can see trash being dropped down.

Or what about @1:35? There are some pretty cool sounds and animations of cars flying overhead.

And 4:06, you can call the Kroll Overlord Office!

  • @Kalaida Wow! I knew there were a lot of details and such, but not some of those. I was wondering what else you could do with the phone... It's a shame that the Warlock didn't have as many interesting interactive areas, outside the Engineering Deck.

I agree, this isn't the sort of game you can blaze through, even if it's possible. Half of the fun is the exploration. I just had to condense it down for the sake of getting videos online to show people about it. :)

  • ah the memories! I remember spending lots of credits in the bar trying to see how many drinks i could come up with. If I recall, if you have too many drinks the bartender will refuse to serve you anything more. lol

  • @demoman87

Can you refuse to pay the tab? =^p

  • @ChaosRayZero actually, yes! if i remember correctly, all that happens is the bartender will just stick his hand out and rub his fingers together as if saying "pay up." you cant do anything else but pay him. :p

  • @demoman87 Yup, he says.."I think you've had too much to drink". I also remember telling the cab driver up yours and he says "Same to you pal". Say it enough and hell zap ya dead.

  • ¡Hey! I have a set of screehshots in a set of Flickr about this fabulous game. Just look for krollian user in Flickr...

    See ya!

  • Thank you so much for doing this! This was a game I played with my brother when I was about 4 and this brings back terrifying memories! :)

  • This is one of best adventures i ever play.Love it

  • I demand more Spaceship warlock videos.
