i cannot believe the negative comments on this wonderful song sung by the maestro himself fantastic rendition by mr diamond such emotion brilliant well done neil 5 stars plus
Alison and Jose are tops in my book. Dusty gave it a jazzy feel. Sting, mellow. I noticed Diamond's name in the list but didn't have time the last visit but had wanted to take a peek. I remember watching his movie "Coming To America" as a teenager and really love the songs therein, especially 'Love On The Rocks". I have one word for his version and you would agree with me if you know his singing style. And that word is - sublime.
The last thing you want to do is compare the different presentations. The singer (representing all the artistes behind him) is a creative genius in his own right.
lyrics arent just lyrics, they convey a mood that the music/expression itself should follow. wtf neil? yeah you can sing it well but this isnt an old school broadway, and everything sounds a bit plodding once you draw out your chords there.
there really doesn't need to be any other version than Noel Harrison's, but Eva mendez's is, IMO, second best and then either this faggotry or Sting's abortion of an attempt.
Round like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel Never ending on beginning On an ever-spinning reel Like a snowball down a mountain Or a carnival balloon Like a carousel that's turning Running rings around the moon Like a clock whose hands are sweeping Past the minutes on its face And the world is like an apple Whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind
Like a tunnel that you follow To a tunnel of its own Down a hollow to a cavern Where the sun has never shone Like a door that keeps revolving In a half-forgotten dream Or the ripples from a pebble Someone tosses in a stream Like a clock whose hands are sweeping Past the minutes on its face And the world is like an apple Whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind

oh god it absolutly crusified it, its pace is what gives it power, whirling power! not slow over orchestrated power! :(

This is wonderful. Thanks so much for uploading it. Neil Diamond is the best and he sings any song in his own great style.

Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle in your head
Why did summer go so quickly?
Was it something that I said?
Lovers walk along a shore
And leave their footprints in the sand
Was the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand?

Pictures hanging in a hallway
Or the fragment of a song
Half-remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong?
When you knew that it was over
Were you suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the color of her hair?

Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever-spinning reel
As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Les moulins ... de mon coeur. The windmills .... of my heart. Michel Legrand.
Surprising. He knows all the best, Bécaud, Brel, Shuman, Legrand and sings them.

I love the sound Neil gives this song. It almost sounds like an epic ballad of slowly going crazy.
