  • LOL...gallows humor.

  • If you look at the Great Depression FDR helped solve it mainly because of stimulus actions. Like the civilian Conservation Corps, Civil Works Administration, and the second Agriculture Adjustment Administration. Also when these "New Deal" reforms' funding were cut too early the economy fell back into another short depression which was fixed by funding the reforms again. Worry about getting government money back after a depression. The real strains on the national deficit are mainly war spending.

  • If you dont like government borrowing dont worry after america goes bankrupt no one will lend us money and the government will live within its means. Government bankruptcy cant take assets only ruins credit worthiness for more debt. America should go bankrupt now!

  • I was like, hey.. isn't this a male enhancement advertisement? Wait.. this video talks about inflation, hyperinflation, stagflation, ahhh now I know. lol

  • RON PAUL REVOLUTION 2009

  • Hahaha...classic. Awesome video keep it up Reason.

  • Lol it is all so true.

  • subscribed!

    that was brilliant

  • LOVE IT** In a time of Universal deceit, telling the truth is a Revolutionary Act"** George Orwell** We are living through some very interesting times...May Allah/God Almighty be with us all :) xx

  • Ha.

  • Ha.

  • bullshitisol lol!

  • This is what the left has always dreamed ... the end of an exploitative federal govt and return to ecologically sustainable localized community with the authority with the people and not the state. Oh wait, is that the right? It's a false dichotomy anyway.

We may witness an end to corporate social welfare. Legalize hemp, end corn subsides, cease public funding of military privatization, stop CIA clandestine actions and start exporting renewable resources--by shopping local.

  • "It's a false dichotomy anyway."

    FINALLY someone gets it.

Oh and chest bump for not being another political drone.

  • LOL, Obama dancing was the best

  • "Side effects may include hyperinflation, stagnation, dollar devaluation, earmarks, excessive debt, bankruptcy, loss of jobs, growth of welfare state, expansion of nanny state, unrealized expectations, economic impotence, depression, halitosis, and sweaty palms."

So true. Especially the halitosis... whew!

  • Once again the big pharmaceutical companies trying to screw Americans with an overpriced drug that doesn't work...oh wait this time its Nancy Pelosi and the big government.

  • Where would one get bullshitisol?

  • if this were an actual molecule or drug it would probably be like scopalamine(natural alkaloid found in datura nightshade plant & jimsonweed) which induces hideous auditory & visual hallucinations. or it could be the synthetic compund 3-quinuclidinyl benzilate, which is a chemical wmd known to 'cause madness & cripple ones instincts of self preservation; ultimately leading to lethal harm to oneself & others. they might as well put this in our drinking water....

  • Wait a stimulus won't help our economy? Spending money we dont own will not work? What?

  • well, i'm more of scientist & not really an economist, but.... my guess is that spending money that they didn't have is what got us here; so how is doing the same thing over on a bigger scale going to help? we shouldn't worry 'cause after all barney frank, nancy, pelosi, & harry reid are economic nobel laureates, right??

  • i see your point and agree with everything you said right there.

  • so.... how'd you manage to be spared from the brainwashing detergents??

  • I'm a bubble boy

  • hmmm......

  • @SymAmineC8H11N the idea is that companies need continuous revenue so government should spend when people cant although kenes did say governments should have surplus during good times

  • so good bullshitisol

  • Okay, I laughed at this one. That was pretty good! We gotta laugh about it.

Otherwise we'll just get all pissed off thinking about it.

  • haha very true. . .

  • AGREED

  • Amen and thank you Reason TV. Please do more.

Give us a logo so we can pick up you visually.

  • What does taking nothing do for you?

  • Makes you get better...

  • lol, very nice

  • I Love this one! It's that Damn Good!

  • SO funny haha

  • OMG! this is so funny and so true!..way to go reasontv!

  • Hah! Great movie. I wish they would put this on every major network and show it every commercial break.

  • Awesome video. We definitely need some real conservatives to get into office.

  • This is an absolutely awesome video. So well done. The abnormal, extravagant scenes of people being "free" after taking Stimulus are perfect. I just wish there was no need for such satire. This stimulus shit is unbelievable. The most scary thing is, I have not heard anyone complaining about this. They seem perfectly content with nonsense like this. Simple logic should tell you that money can't come from nowhere. Little do they know this is the absolute worst thing for them. Very, very sad!

  • @MustangManiac1115 You're right, the money doesn't come from nowhere. During recessions, savings rates increase, which prevents that money from being spent in the economy to sustain growth and jobs. What stimulus spending does is essentially fill in the gap between what consumers are spending and what they should be until demand picks up again and people are spending normally. In these scenarios, government merely takes the role that the private sector has temporarily abdicated. Nothing sinister

  • if you experience an stimulus for more than 4 hours, enjoy... it might be your last...

  • Congress is the only branch that can spend money. Back to Government class......

  • Since ReasonTV is a libertarian organization, the libertarians are 'right on the money' with this video!!! As a nation, we 'desperately' need to get more of them elected to political office in America starting now!!!

  • All stimulus plans are costing taxpayers because a handful of get-rich quick hustlers couldn't see past the bottom line. As a taxpayer I am strongly considering that stronger government regulation has failed my fellow taxpayers. If elected officials, civilian oversight and regulatory agencies fail at their jobs the consequences are evident. It is obvious that lender institutions should be monitored by internal auditors accountable to feds.

  • OH MY GOSH! This is superb!! Thanks for the smiles during such a crappy time of replayin' the mistakes in our nation's history - :( A good sense of humor will get us through -

  • May cause depression. LOL!

  • great vid!!

  • bravo!!! bravo!!!! *standing ovation*

ya umm a trillion dollars huh???

if you ask me $300,000 per american should stimulate the economy

  • LOL - I love it!

By the way Dr Toke - half the problem with this country is because it is run by lawyers, both presidents and congress! At least Regan had a DEGREE in Economics! I bet Obama doesn't even know the definition of "Opportunity cost"

  • LOL!

  • Bullshitisol, hahahaha.

  • Because the first "bail out" was for the banking industry and not to bail out the economy in general. Have you looked at the provisions and the Pork in this bill? How will it create NEW jobs? It will just add more work to the existing jobs out there. Companies are still gun shy to hire. You think Obama forcing this bill on America is a cure/fix all?

McCain should NOT have voted for the first bail out and he shouldn't vote for this one.

  • > Because the first "bail out" was for the banking industry and

    > not to bail out the economy in general.

The government is just ripping off all the money they can before the US dollar collapses. This is the final stages of our country.

  • The first 'bailout' was not necessarily a bad idea.

The Fed could not save Lehman because it was an I-Bank with no buyers.

When Lehman BKd, it was not CDSs but money market fund withdrawals that triggered the panic that prompted the TARP. A big money market fund was invested in Lehman. The problem with TARP is the toxic assets are too difficult to price and directing banks to lend to the 'creditworthy' was risky. They decided to inject capital into banks like the Brits to prevent more panics.

  • The first "bail out" was to bail out the economy.

If another too-big-to-fail bank BKd, it might trigger another massive run on money market funds and bring down the economy as the first money market panic in September almost did.

The $250K govt. guarantee that stopped the first panic might not stop a second panic if another big bank went under.

  • great vid *****

  • LMAo!

  • The stimulus plan has become such that you just have to sit back at times and have a good laugh.

  • obamaforprez, Get out.

  • Hilarious!

  • YEAH! if you dont agree with everything goverment does now you must be racist hahaha.

  • Not my President.

  • Some day Obama voters may know more than what they knew in the 2008 election and will know which party controlled Congress, who the Speaker of the House was, and who the Senate Majority Leader was at the time of the Lost Decade Porkulus boondoggle and the Democrats will suffer from ED: Electability Dysfunction.

  • > Some day Obama voters may know more than what they knew

    > in the 2008 election and will know which party controlled

    > Congress, who the Speaker of the House was,

Name a bill that Obama and McCain voted differently on that you think demonstrates that McCain would have been any different than Obama.

I am sick of the morons in this country that didn't even bother to find to do basic research before condemning the country, YET AGAIN, to the same miserable conclusion.

  • McCain is acting on sound economic principles in opposing the Porkulus bill.

Obama is exposed as having no grasp of proven economic principles.

Japan during their Lost Decade proved that massive government spending will produce anemic growth at best.

The New Deal also proved that.

Obama foolishly let Pelosi write the Porkulus bill.

The Baby Boomer Entitlement Tsunami is less than a decade away.

We need strong growth to deal with it.

We won't get it with Obama Porkulus.

  • > McCain is acting on sound economic principles in opposing

    > the Porkulus bill.

    Pure partisan politics.

Why did McCain vote for the "stimulus" both times under Bush? He voted for the 700 billion dollar bailout and the 840 billion dollars bailout when President McWhackJob was Queen of the United States.

McCain knows it's going to pass regardless of his vote now, it's just posturing.

There is no difference between the parties now except rhetoric.

  • Here is a running gag I heard today: "Why McCain voted for the 700 Billion Bailout and refuses to support the current Stimulus Bill? 'Cause he is confused."

  • Hilarious! LMAO!

  • Why does anyone think the government is smarter then you or I? Why would anyone think the government should be trusted spending our money? Im an American first, and both parties have proven to be untrustworthy, biased and loyal to their lobbyist and not to ALL the people. All of us can argue about the past. The future starts today!

  • one of the highest viewcount videos on youtube,

    great job reason!

  • Bullshitisol - great stuff! :-)

  • i think people forget sometimes that the problems we face now didnt start in the 4 weeks since obama took office...

  • I hear that Stimulis actually performs worse than placebo.

  • This is awesome! Yes, welcome to Jimmuh Cawta part deux.

  • Obama campaigned on the magical mantra of "change". Americans wanted "change" but they do not know how bad this "change" is gonna be in the next few years to come. We will see. I think that his failure will surpass that of Jimmy Carter's big flop in his presidency. This will be like another Jimmy Carter presidency, but on some steroids.

  • CBO has also concluded that the long-term damage to the economy presented by the current stimulus bill will be worse than the short-term jobs saved and/or created.

  • Preferably, to the point where government expenditure = 100% of GDP. That would be the best stimulus ever!

  • have you ever looked at any facts? Tax cuts actually increase revenue for the state. Good grief, too many parrots and sheep.

  • And as usual, you can blame republicans and the weakness of democrats.

  • oh, and all that government spending, has to come from somewhere, where do you suppose that is? oh ya, the people. So you believe, that by taking people's money, sending it through a huge, expensive and slow middle man, and then spending it on shit we dont need will help? Can you tell me one situation where someone got a better deal that way?

  • According to the Congressional budget office report, government spending works better and stimulates more than tax cuts (especially for the rich and business). Direct transfers to persons (welfare) stimulates the economy effectively because poor people spend what they get. Government infrastructure spending, on the other hand, provides some stimulus but enhances long term growth. Tax cuts simply add to the national debt.

  • Really. Then why did the Soviet Union fail?

  • the soviets fell for many reasons, the main being the inability to feed themselves, pouring money into out dated production techniques, and a holding back individual initiative. Lets hope the president understand capitalism built this country, and socialism is not going to save it.

  • You seem to like the CBO. I suppose you believe the BLS numbers on CPI, GDP, and employment too. Giving money to the poor so they can go spend it is not a long term solution and is morally bankrupt. The US needs to move away from borrowing and spending at the consumer and government levels. Tax cuts vs. government revenue is not simply linear. The idea is to maximize revenue. Ibn Khaldun understood this in the 14th century. It seems you comment on things in which you have little understanding.

  • so your argument is that government spending works because the government says it does? tax cuts increase revenue, its a empirical fact. Also, if our economy is run by people who make poor decisions with their money, and you guys think the solution is to give them more, we are fucked.

  • Actually it is not an empirical fact that tax cuts increase revenue. The Laffer curve and so-called reganomics are not facts but dubious economic theories, kind of like all economic theory. I agree leaving the economy alone is usually the best course of action, but tax cuts are no holy grail, especially when this country is facing a mountian fiscal debt.

  • Stop the nonsense, 'cause we ALL know that the stimulus is the right thing to do right now. Tax cuts are good BUT we'd have to wait too long to see their positive results. You know it and our conservative leaders know it. So again: Stop the madness!!!!For the record: I am an Independent leaning Conservative. If you have any doubt, have a look at my profile!

  • Or you could do nothing and let the recession play itself out. We take a hard fall and pick ourselves back up.

Hell if I know if thats the "right" thing to do, though; economics confuses the hell out of me. Maybe the stimulus will help, maybe it won't. Either way, its still too early to call.

  • We controlled the White House from 2000 to 2008 and the Senate/Congress from 2000 to 2006. In these majority years, we did exactly what we are NOW trying to inject into the Liberal Stimulus Bill. But why on earth should the Liberals listen to us? I mean, we screwed up! Let the Liberals have their way and see what happen. 'Cause we had it our way and it did NOT work. Is that so hard to understand???

  • "we screwed up"

No one "screwed" anything up. This was all done intentionally. When people wake up and realize that our government, for decades, has been intentionally destroying this country, we can begin to restore this country. We, the people alone, can not change things when so many people still have no idea what's going on in the world around them,

  • I could NOT agree with you more. BUT I am more interested in saving/helping the Conservative Movement. 'Cause our Movement has produced so many high-functioning morons in recent years and is about to kill itself by producing even more high-functioning morons. It is time to stop the bleeding. Otherwise, the Liberals and Libertarians might get total control over this country. That would be the death of the Conservative Movement!!!

  • You haven't read the Dems Porkulus bill.

This bill is the Rahm Emmanuel/Nancy Pelosi 40 years of pent up Big Government Socialism being rammed down your throat through the trojan horse of a fearmongered semi-crisis.

It has the trojan horse for socialized medicine sneaked in.

This is not private sector stimulus which is what it should be.

  • We did not control the Senate/House from 2000-2006.

Jumping Jim Jeffords jumped in June 2001 and gave the Lib Dems control of the Senate from June 2001 until January 2003.

The Senate was only in Republican hands for 4 years and the Dems used the Anti-Cloture Filibuster to block legislation.

  • We did not control the Senate/House from 2000-2006, Bush is a Muslim and the earth is flat. Why do we have all many "smart" historians and high-functioning morons like you in our Conservative Movement? Why can't these idiots join the Liberals and leave us alone? Somebody help me...

  • Your answer is too stupid and incoherent to waste alot of time on.

  • Your analysis and comments are the height of stupidity. I hope you are NOT a conservative. 'Cause we have fed up with high-functioning morons like you, who have high-jacked the GOP and give the Liberals the impression that we, the Conservatives, are all idiots. SHUT THE FUCK UP or HELP US REBUILD THE GOP !!!

  • If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism....The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is. - Ronald Reagan

  • The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom? Where where you during the last 8 years? 'Cause the Liberals did NOT introduce the Wall-Street bail out plan, increase government interference or introduce the Patriot Act. These are conservative initiatives, unless you think Bush is not a conservative anymore. GET REAL !!!

  • Bush pushed his compasionate conservative, which was in fact socialism light. Currently democrats go for true socialism. Which is way worse, as Bush maintained huge debt-GDP ratio, now it will get even higher. Republicans currently are not so much for decentralisation or even low taxes, but it's still better than 0,8bln$ porkfest.

  • Bush got a 1.3 Trillion tax cuts Bill through the Senate and Congress with the support of 28 House Democrats and 12 Senate Democrats in 2001 arguing this is the best way to get our nation to more prosperity. BUT 7 years later, we are facing the worst economic turmoil since the Great Depression. NOW you tell me why the American People should stop listening to Obama and believe that our tax cuts ideas are the best solution to the crisis !!!

  • Bush cut taxes while increasing government spending. Sorry that doesn't work either. Stop thinking of Bush has a conservative..he wasn't.

  • Where were you in the last years? In a cave or at the Idiocy and Stupidity High School of Anchorage in Alaska? Bush campaigned and got elected in 2000 and 2004 as the candidate of the conservative Party called GOP!!! If you are not ready to accept these facts, you will have to find somebody else you can tell your lies to, 'cause I am NOT one of these high-functioning morons willing to accept your LIES, EricTheSheppard !!!

  • GOP doesn't always mean Conservative just as DNC doesn't always mean idiot. In fact, the Conservative base hasn't had candidate with a legitimate chance at the presidency since Reagan.

And you should ask yourself these questions: Do you think that the government is smarter than you? Or that they know how to better spend your money? Are you a sheep?

Look up the history of Argentina under Peron and you'll see why Conservatives argue against big government.

  • I will pay attention to your comments the day Bush came out and say: I am ran in 2000 and 2004 as the GOP presidential candidate, but I am not a Conservative. By the way, you should be careful in comparing the DNC to a bunch of idiots, 'cause the high-functioning morons named Bush and Palin are all BUT no members of the DNC!!! Get your facts straight before saying anything. Otherwise, I might think you are just one of these idiots smearing our conservative movement !!!

  • The only conservative in the GOP is Ron Paul. Conservative means Smaller Governmebt. What has Bush done to reduce the size of thew Gov?

  • Thanks DoomHippie for saying the truth: Dr. Ron Paul is the kind of Conservative we need NOW. We should put him at the head of the GOP or, at least, listen to him more. But I am afraid nobody will listen to us, 'cause our leaders and conservative commentators are too busy to find their way and transforming Sara Palin into our leader. That is just pathetic!!

  • Yeah... with the way things are right now, Ron Paul is the ONLY member of the Two Parties that I'd vote for.

  • Dude freakin chill.

Yes, Bush claimed he was conservative but look at what he DID. He was not a conservative president and the GOP did not act conservative during those 8 years.

But you know..maybe universal health care would be a good thing...because you need some blood pressure medicine

  • "You can fool some people sometime, but you can NOT fool all the people all the time."

  • $1.3 trillion is a made-up figure. You should know that since you obviously made it up. Bush also signed a stimulus package and two bailouts (Wall St. and banks). Why would you think that Obama's stimulus package and bailouts would work? Because the Great Messiah says so?

I don't know why Liberals complain so much about Bush and then try to reuse all of his bad ideas. It's funny to hear Obama say that Bush's economic counsel supports the stimulus package.

  • Depression of 1920, as bad as the great depression, only the government cut its spending and didnt interfere in the markets, problem gone a year later. Great depression, spend spend spend, lasts until the end of ww2..... but facts arent important now.....

  • WWII worked because we killed millions of poor and unemployed men.

  • Ridicolous.

  • You are mostly wrong. You failed to mention that FDR's New Deal(s) did not solve the depression. The money spent in WW2 was a highly focused investment in industry and transportation. It was not money spent to recapitalize poorly managed banks. The rest of the industrialized world was bombed out, giving us a golden 25 year window. This stimulus is a buckshot of ill-defined projects and state bailouts. Debt repayment is already the fourth largest budget item and growing. Hope you don't have kids.

  • amazing, someone give this person an award

  • This is funny!

    5 stars for you!

  • The environment is the best it has been in many years. I grew up in Detroit mean all the smokestake industries were going full bore. They are just boarded up buildings now. This economy should make you and other green fanatics happy because when the economy is down less energy is used. When a nation is not PRODUCING goods that take energy to create then that nation will be "green" but will have NO GREEN.....

  • Weve found a POTUS who is demonstrably dumber than our last one.

Eloquent? Yes. He didnt misunderestimate a syllable.

    But an imbecile? Demonstrably.

Anyone who cant see the difference between economic stimulus and pork (in its many forms) is a dope.

Obama, heres your first of many signs

  • scary version? he knows exactly what he's doing.

how else will the NWO get power over the U.S.?

  • Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

  • I formally request all Federal Elected Officials and there appointees

To voluntary surrender their salary and medical benefits until the economy has stabilized and unemployment is down to 2007 levels. The salary and medical benefit cash value should be sent directly to The Federal-State Unemployment Insurance Program. This is to insure the American people that all federal elected officials are willing to experience the same realty as the American people.

    AWESOME IDEA,including the president

  • dude. stop with the bad acid

  • Brilliant :)

  • Economists understand the stimulus better than whoever came up with the ad so I'll trust them, not this hooey that some conservative problem cooked up.

  • You're a fucking idiot if you think the stimulis bill is correct you fucking idiot and im a democrat and i know that, you're just a sheep

  • These economists are fools...everything looks good on paper but in the real world it doesn't work. The stmiulus plans have never worked here or in any other country...look at Japan in the 1990's. This video wasn't produced by a conservative...we're called libertarians. Pull your head out of your ass and get it right. If you want free money move your happy ass to some socialist country and quit trying to turn our democracy into socialist state.

  • I hope America does become a socialist state, I truly do and I'm not sorry or ashamed about it. I would LOOOOVE free money. Fingers crossed my wish comes true!!

  • jfkjrlover

    Socialism: Making privet property public.

Sounds nice except, rights come form privet property. You can make the rules of your home because it is your privet property.

Socialism, Communism: a government that takes away all of your rights.

  • um, do you know what money is?

  • Yes I do but I know that the happiness of my fellow human beings is more important therefore I believe all people should be charitable and give freely, knowing poor families are able to feed and clothe their children with welfare money.

  • Yeah, the same economists (Politicians) who got you into the shit you are in right now........Oh sorry, I forgot, it was Bush, how clumsy of me.

  • You're just another sheep...

  • this is great. keep up the good work.

  • I know it wont get past that thick skull of yours but STFU Newb.... please do us all a favor and rinse your mouth out with buckshot =P k? Thankx

  • Haha!! 5 stars and faved!!!!

  • Giving this five stars.

  • NO MONEY TO ACORN!!!

  • So much for Obama's pledge of "transparent" government! When was the last time a bill was signed on a Friday night? Another broken Obama promise. Looks like the deadline for leaving Iraq was extended as well. Seems Obama now wants them in even longer than Bush did. Bush had a time table of 16 months Obama just expanded that to 24!

  • Yes, Obama has been in office almost 3 weeks now and look what he's done! He should be impeached immediatly!

  • Oh, how wrong you are. All that's in there are pointless spending practices that do nothing to address the economy (e.g. $200,000,000,000 to computerize health care records <--- AMOUNT NOT A TYPO) and oh so many other zeros. Obama is proving himself a bigger threat to this country than Bush, as much as it pains me to say it.

  • Worst President in History, that distinct honor goes to Democrat Carter. Carter (with both houses of Congress dominated by overwhelming Democratic majorities) presided over the worst, most painful economic crisis in the nations post-war history: complete with 21% mortgage interest rates, 12% inflation rates, and unemployment above 8%. Obama's 'debt to solve debt' Idea will exceed Carters flop...

  • I think that distinction will go to G.W. Bush.

Bush broke the conservative movement and the Republican Party, refused to win 2 wars, borrowed so much money that we now broke, shunned capitalism/embraced socialism to save capitalism(he admits this),...

We now have a Neo-Marxist as President because of G.W. Bush. He was our Romanov Dynasty. He caused the coming Bolshevik Revolution. If this country falls because of the Neo-Marxists it will be Bush's fault.

  • I thought it was Naders fault???

    Make up your minds!!!

  • LOVE it

  • Nice version of Rainy Day Women 12 & 35 in the background.

  • LOL

  • Ron Paul for Freedom!!!!

F obama and the rest of the socialist bastards in washington!!!!!

  • O'come on now... solving debt with debt is Obamination's master plan, it is so brilliant it doesn't even make sense... just give him a chance..LOL

  • Great job. Keep spreading the word.
