One thing I notice - the audience in 'C,' 'D,' and 'F' are the same, the audience in 'B' and 'E' are the same, and the audience in 'A' is distinct. Also, like I mentioned in the 'i for iron' clip, this guy sounds like that guy (especially when he laughs after something goes wrong).
This one was my favorite of the whole series! esp when the Countdown Guy wants the rocket to come back. "Hey wait! I'm not finished counting!" Then it does, and ....OOPS! The look on the guy's face, when everyone else is glaring at him, is the best part!
It is not Casey Kasem...He has a distinct voice very noticeable...but there was an episode on the countdown when they finally got it right...Does anyone have that...to complete the set.
The voice is only fitting for a countdown: Casey Kasem. Listen to the guy say "Hey wait, come back. I'm counting". I know it is hard to believe listening to the Edward G Robinson voice, but on the one that the guy blasts off, listen to him scream "one". He wasn't able to keep his feet on the ground, but he certainly was able to reach the stars.
It probably is Casey Kasem. After all, he did realistic train sound effects on the Scooby-Doo episode "Mine Your Own Business" when Shaggy pretends to be a train in a tunnel.
Paul Frees. "Good morning, Mr. Frees... Here's your coffee, Mr. Frees... Have a nice day, Mr. Frees." I wonder if anyone ever confused him with the villain from the Batman series.
It sounds as if it's Paul Frees. He had a huge voice range, which he used to play everything from the Burgomeister Meisterburger (in "Santa Claus Is Comin to Town") to the Pillsbury Dough Boy.
As I listen to these clips, I'm picking up the combination of nasality, raspiness and rich chest tones, which were the main elements of Paul's voice. It especially sounds like him when the character yells to the rocket to "Come back".
Why do they keep hiring this guy?

These rocket bits were some of my favorites as well, esp. the expressions on the countdown guy's face...

An animation that perfectly illustrates the North Korean missile program.

I was wondering when these vintage clips were going to show up! Thanks for sharing. I remember at some point they *do* get it right....

Right. He counts down to 1, the rocket goes off without a hitch. The 3 spectators start cheering and the MC looks skyward and smiles.
