  • amd forever!!!!!

  • sc0pl355. PCs have always been better than Macs. in my other video i open 74 Quick time movies with with full divx and Macward and Eric couldnt open 40 MP4 clips. If you want me to upload that vi dim more happy to do so.

  • deadrat, you are notorious for playing a flim-flam game. I've caught you numerous times trying to pull a fast one if you recall.

Don't play that with me, keep that mess to the newbs.

  • i dont want to argue But the reality was my AMD did do a better job than Erics iMac

  • Um, deadrat, we're not even really talking about your video.

Plus, I disagree with the notion that using different software and playing different videos conclusively shows that your AMD processor was what had prevailed in your video.

For starters, VLC is much lighter than Quicktime. Secondly, we don't even know if what Eric showed was his limit. I didn't even see his video. Would have been nice if you linked to it.

  • Looks sped up

Plus, lol at comparing VLC to Quicktime.

  • Quick time isent as good as VLC. BTW no speed up in this vid, that AMDC was the best CPU i ever owned and im a Intel fanboy :D

  • Look the guy was running his vids under a single instance of quicktime, while you were running under VLC in multiple instances. IF ANYTHING, the vid is more about how good VLC is, not how good Windows is.

If I make duplicates of VLC, I can run many more videos, smoothly, in each version, than I can in one copy of Quicktime. Multiple instances are like having multiple copies in a way because you can spread the processes out into multiple processes, while QT is one process the way he did it.

  • The point is apple fanboys criticise Windows users constantly, and he can do what a 2 year old iMac with a dual core, on a shitty single core PC.

  • how does comparing apples and oranges prove anything?

They both were playing different videos and using different applications with different underlying conditions.

  • Well you can still watch the video can't you? There are more codecs for VLC than for shit time. Emeek could run that many videos on his iMac in VLC I'm sure but it still proves the point that his old PC can do as much as the iMac.

  • Look, I don't care about what you think of Quicktime.

All I'm saying is that Showing a bunch of vids in VLC does nothing to say that a PC is better than a Mac.

    VLC is available for OSX.

  • the bullshit idiots throw around is that Windows can't multitask. videos like this disprove that notion entirely.

  • There's a difference between disproving something and trying to draw a comparison that is off balance.

Like I said, Deadrat has been notorious for gimping his comparisons for years now.

  • so? his point gets across, and he's right.

  • What's he proving here with his shakeycam and preloaded vids? What's he proving by playing vids in multiple instances in VLC when playing the same amount of vids in QT is much more difficult. At best, this vid shows that VLC is a good media player. Problem is, VLC is available for Mac.

Plus, he only shows his CPU. He doesn't show his Videocard or RAM. Both things are more important when it comes to videoplayback.

  • video playback taxes the CPU moreso than memory and GPU.

  • snipurl. c o m / sbxfm

    whatever

  • right, but that's if your media player offloads decoding to the GPU. given the CPU usage in my screenshot, I doubt VLC is doing that.

  • Hardware YUV DirectX output. >:(

    I smell clone filter

  • i38.tinypic com/2uynas8.jpg

nine different videos, each with a clone, is this better?

  • The clone is unnecessary. the processing power needed to process a clone is negligible. Look, I can clone a vid 50 times with no impact on playback or processing.

Also, I see that your task bar says you have 18 vids open. But you don't you only have 9 vids opened.

  • okay, open up a 720p movie and clone it 50 times.

if you look at the videos, it's 9. 9 are VLC windows, 9 are clones.

  • That's what I said, you had 9 videos. The 9 clones don't really count as videos.

Anyway, I opened up Lord of the rings: The two towers

According to Quicktme, which I opened it i to verify the size, the data size on it is 1.41 gb and it is 720 x 304 (720p). I took a screenshot.

After that, I opened it in VLC, made 50 clones and moved them around a bit. It played just fine. A little choppy, but My iMac is old.

  • I just did young guns. 711 x 400. Same results. 50 clones able to play.

Yeah, I know it isn't 720p, but it contains more data per frame than the two thrones

  • 720p is 1280x720, not 720x304.

  • My bad, It's after 4:am here.

    hold on.

  • i35.tinypic com/2uj2vfc.png

it's not 720p or even close, but yeah.

  • Alright, got it.

I don't have any 720p vids. So, what I did is opened five movies.

Young guns, scarface, Dead Man's chest, two towers and I-Robot

    Young guns is 711 x 400, the other four are 720 x 304. Each has 13 clones.

    720 x 304= 218,880 x 4= 875,520

    711x400= 284,400

    284,400+875,520= 1,159,920 pixels of data.

    1280x720= 921,600

    still runs

  • I opened 6 movies.

    Ghost Town = 616x336

    Der Untergang = 608x336

    Wanted = 668x278

The Man from Earth = 608x352

    Total Recall = 608x532

    El orfanato = 1008x432

    still running :D

  • 15 clones each btw

  • Lord of the rings: Two Towers (720 x 304) x 6 with 30 clones each. Each one is opened in its own install of VLC. on top of that, I have two more installs of VLC on standby.

  • Make that seven with 30 more clones to add to the pile.

  • you need to push it harder, that is pretty weak. download big bunny 1080P and see how many copies you can go without dropping too many frames.

  • holy shit. big bunny is awezome!!!

    I love the animation.

  • Another one that looks pretty neat, is Elephants Dream. The detail is pretty amazing for a little blender animation.

  • Yeah, I saw Elephant's dream. Know where I can get a 1080p on that one?

Hey, have you seen Gentleman's Duel? That's a fantastic one. No hd tho as far as I know.

Also, there is a game sprite vid called Kings Of Power 4Billion% you gotta see that one.

  • Ok, tried out Big Bunny 1080p on my iMac.

Can do five clones without dropping any frames. 8 with some dropped frames. 10 with more dropped frames. 30 with no locking of my system but a slideshow.

In contrast, I can run three copies (Not clones) of the video in quicktime so far.

  • and here, i did this with a movie i'm watching:

    i37.tinypic com/20q1ah2.jpg

  • multiple instances of the same vid in VLC. Not impressed.

  • Why does it matter if Quicktime is as good as VLC or not?

VLC is available for OSX too. My point is that the other guy ran all his vids IN quicktime. If VLC is better, then you actually didn't prove anything because, by your own words, he ran his vids the hard way.

I said it looks sped up, that's an opinion. Also, I see some of your vids are skipping frames. AND those vids look pretty low res. On top of that, you had those vids pre-opened.

  • lol so funny little less than double with 1 core less

  • nice

  • AMD 3200+ still a great CPU, runs my second PC with Win 7 and 1Gb RAM pretty smooth.

  • AMD 3200+ Best CPU i ever owned. It was way fater then all erics iMacs :D

  • my old desktop still runs amd 3200+ barton, its good for windows xp
