  • I believe that the green grape guy is the oscar-winning actor F. Murray Abraham... known as Omar Suarez in Scarface, Bernardo Gui in The Name of the Rose and Salieri in Amadeus. This is his first claim to fame!

  • Of course the black guy is in the grape suit.....

  • This brings back a childhood memory. After the underwear wore out we used to cut the waistbands off and make sling shots out of them.

  • Man, I wish underwear WAS only a $1.

  • @Koifish07 Yeah nowadays they make everything essential so darn expensive...from underwear to diapers...my theory is they know everyone needs that stuff and they go in for the kill, ha. Bra prices are the worst of all.

    Loom"underwear commercial with Harry Gox

    and that character actress.

  • The apple is played by Harry Goz (r.i.p.), who later did the voice of Captain Murphy on Sealab 2021.

  • funny commercial... I didn't know the fruit guys exicted then. BTW, BLUE IS an AWESOME song... I'll try and post it

  • can anyone post the commercial '' blue '' please !!!! i love the song

  • I'm 29 and I remember seeing these as late as age 8. I had no idea they started back in 1970's, so that means there were probably several commercials made from this same formula. My favorite part of this commercial has to be the sound effect used to show thier sudden appearance out of nowhere! I just showed this to my 16 y/o cousin and the same tickled her. Finally stumbling across this commercial 2 weeks back was awesome finally being able to see it for the first time since I don't know when.

  • i love seeing pop culture from before my birth.wookie cookie, what your posting on youtube is priceless.thank you.

  • You trying to make me feel old? :)

  • This is the same woman who, a few years later, said "They don't say Hanes, until I say they say Hanes."

  • I remember those Hanes commercials. I belive that lady was a bit bigger and more stern. As for the lady who you see on the above fruit of the loom commercial, her name is Loretta Tupper (b.1906-d.1990)according to the IMDB. She was an actress whose career spanned clear back to the vaudeville days.

  • The Actress that played Inspector 12 from the Hanes Commercials was named Polly Rowles.

This actress' name was Loretta Tupper.

  • This has to be that same commercial that was shown on the TV set in the movie "Oh God: Book II" (1980). Great find though.
