  • can i put a sim card in this phone ??????

    please someone answer this Q?

  • my milestone backlight cant get on , is there any thing i cant do , the touch screen is working fine ... Thanks ~

  • Today I've replaced my Milestone's Broken Display

The good news: My screen is working again :)

The bad news: I've damaged a flex cable and now the Mic and Speaker don't work :(

Kids, follow ALL these intructions or you can mess up with someting

  • there is a phillips screw on the cover over the screen that is worn out.

how will I be able to take it out? D:

  • do i absolutly have to replace the screen if it went black but still responds? or is there a repair for that like a loose ribbon or something?

  • i have this phone and just today it fell of my couch and for some odd reason the screen is out but i can still slide the lock to unlock it. is there anything i can do to fix it without spending money?? or will i have to replace the whole screen?

  • My droid's power button no longer works, it freezes on the security screen, and now the a button is constantly being pushed and it wont let me text with out it looking like atahaiasa. maybe i just need a new freakin phone

  • My Droid is the same but when I try to use it or unlock it the screen is black but I can still use it but I can't see anything

  • How would this differ from the Droid 2 Global? There are no instructions or videos anywhere on this same process for the Droid 2 Global.

  • My droid touchscreen sometimes go crazy.. even when im not touching the screen it will scroll itself and tap and launch applications. and there are some spots that are unresponsive. would replacing the screen fix it?

  • @PhotonUponLight Replacing the screen should fix those issues.

  • @PhotonUponLight I have the same problem as we speak. Did you change your screen and did it fix the problem?

  • @PhotonUponLight no lol the lcd is just display, the digitizer is the touch screen part

  • The back light on my droid went out after being dropped, the touch screen still responds and you can use the phone if you hold it up to a really bright light. My question is will replacing the screen fix the back light issue or is that another component? thx

  • your the best

  • your the best

  • your the best

  • i hate that this phone doesnt have a sim card slot..........

  • Good video. I am going to buy the case opener give replacing my screen a try.

  • good idea @ramday , me, too, but having trouble finding the exact, verifiable part/kit on directfix. found it on eBay though, all-inclusive, foolproof. sent a note to directfix encouraging them to make their search easier. they put so much effort into streamlining the process i hate to seem them lose sales

  • @mgosby Sorry about that. The case opener part number is XX1521

  • @ramday The case opener part number is XX1521

  • If I would like to specifically change the motherboard flex cable, how would I do it? are there some screws that I need to remove before pulling out the flex cable?

  • Great...

  • so how would you reassemble it?

  • @Anthony66701 Follow the free video directions in reverse.

  • About a month ago i dropped my droid and the lock button didnt work anymore. turns out the metal disk inside had fallen out. I want to thank the person who mad this video so much cause you just saved me 60 bucks for a new phone

  • This is a very handy repair guide, keep em coming.

  • My Milestone's touchscreen is suddenly registering unexistent input., jmping by it self from page to page, while typing it registers keys that have not been selected, etc. Could the screen be the culprit? Maybe the flex cable? Any suggestion will be appreciated.

  • @Diver0101 the Digitizer has went bad. its fairly common on the milestone/droid. the connection ribbon is too close to the earpiece and corrodes. you need to buy a new digitizer (the glass screen) and follow this video to replace it. im on my third digitizer with my moto droid.

  • I think the most important thing to take away from this video is ...

make sure you are using a case opener tool from DirectFix com

  • wtfack who would actually take the time to do this

  • @MsRuTgErSz Someone that broke their screen and wants to save time and money repairing it them self.

  • @pdaparts I just did this.

  • @MsRuTgErSz herp derp

  • Where is the gold in this cellphone?

  • pls reply asap

i disassemble my Motorola Droid but i am stuck on the LCD part because i don't have any screw driver that fits on it

what is the part number of the Philips screw driver on 3:56

  • @raclimja16 The screw driver is at DirectFix com and is part number XX2240.

  • @raclimja16

HI Im repairing a doctors droid as I type this. Taking it apart, I went thru the SAME stress, but no fear, What I found, after having to go to home depot and buy new screwdrivers, was that it requires a screwdriver with a head that looks way to big for it, but comes down to a thin cross tip). I bought a little "Husky" set at home depot for $5. Has interchangable heads. Use the one head that reads 1/16". Youll find they unscrew with no effort! :)

  • @BadAppleCoreMacTech Or when you order the part from DirectFix com just make sure to order the #00 phillips screw driver part number XX2240...

  • Wow, why does everything have to be so complicated. But thanks. It did work, i have shaky hands so it took me forever!!

  • my digitizer is malfunctioning, your video is wonderful and re-assembling should be easy. My only question is are all of the parts reusable ie the copper strip and plastic cover around the camera? I want to make sure that I have everything I need or might need before opening the phone and making the replacement . Getting stuck with not being able to complete the task because I don't have something specific such as adhesive or clips. Do you have any advice for reassembly?

  • @4snotnosedpunks You should be able to reuse all the parts you take off... the copper strip and plastic cover around the camer

  • I got a question I dropped my droid and it got a lil loose and shaky how do I make it firm and tight ?

  • What is the part number for the glass? I'm also curious if I will need anything else besides the tools to take it apart? The touch part of the screen still works great, it just has a spiderweb effect on the very top. Thanks

  • Not trying to be a dick, but for all of those asking for a video on how to put it back together... probably shouldn't be taking their phone apart in the first place.

Not that this is overly technical, but you're just reversing the process.

    Great video.

  • Sorry if this was previously answered. What's the part number for the T5 Torx screwdriver. I can't find one locally that small.

  • @tsolorio3001 Goto DirectFix com and look at part number XX1127

  • is there a video putting it together??

  • @gunslinger0988 Sorry no but you can follow the free steps in the video in reverse.

  • will this be the same for a droid 2?

  • @juanv135 Almost the same but not 100% the same.

  • What adhesive do you use to stick all the parts back together that need it?

  • hey a have problem, my droid have breaked lights for screen, if there is any solusion

    exept buy new screen??

  • is it possible to replace the screen only without taking the entire phone apart?

  • @lhebert11 No you have to follow the directions and take it apart.

  • what should I do if my droid suddenly goes to a black screen and will not work. I've tried removing the battery and SD card, and I'm not sure what else would help. Any ideas?

  • After watching this video and repairing my audio connector , when I reassembled all the parts, my minijack connector work perfectly but the phone dont vibrate. I have reopened it to see if the motor was connected and It was all in its place. Any idea? I need the vibration notification when my mobile is in silence. Sry for my english

  • @mimamema Keep checking it has to be something basic you missed. The motors are simple parts and just touch the motherboard or a connector to work.

  • I managed to take almost all of it apart with the exception of the screen itself. The 5 philips screws on the back seem very fragile. I have various small screw drivers and none seem to catch. Do you sell the specific screw driver you used? Is it the philips on your site?

    The Torx came out perfectly.

  • @FutureX2001 I think that is the #00 Phillips Screw Driver. Part Number XX2240 at DirectFix-com

  • Is it necessary to remove the motherboard and all other items on the base in order to just replace the screen. (all up to 4:00) or can I just start from (4:00) and access the LCD screen for replacement.

  • Can u plz put a video up to reassemble plz? And if the screen is black but it still rings and i can ralk abd keyboard lights up but cant see anything on screen at anytime do i need a digitizer? Or more internal issue? I brought phone w no warrenty n december 2010.

  • @pebblesyowi There are no plans to do a re-assembly video for this unit.

  • good job!! now put it back together ?

  • @hidoori We already did and it works great. Have a great day.

  • I saw that you guys have screws to buy on the directfix site. Do you know if you have some that could possibly replace the philips screws for the keyboard/screen area? Or do you know where I could get some that small? They stripped really easy and I need replacements.

  • does anyone know where i can get one of these "case opener tools"?!

  • @burgurboy Yes you can get them from DirectFix com

  • do you have or have access to replacement motherboards

  • @ttrap20 Sorry no.

  • how do you put it back together? should i just retrace my steps??

  • @Connorita91 Yes you are correct.

  • One lady at Verizon told me there was no way to replace the screen. Friggin' liar. D:<

    Thank you!

  • do you have the ribbon that is in the shape of the L at the end of your video for sale ? I believe it connects the LCD to the motherboard?

  • @PROMETHEOSRISING Sorry we do not have that part.

  • Thanks for the video. It greatly helped me swap out a cracked digitizer.

  • thanks it helped me

  • This video was a great help for me on my Droid disassembly project. Thanks a bunch for this!

  • thank you and wow i took it all apart with your help. and copperrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. 1:18

  • wait, where do I get the case opening tool?

  • @AstarothNxx You can get the tool from DirectFix com

  • @AstarothNxx screwdriver

  • @invisional I think you are referring to to the Torx driver T5 which is available at DirectFix com

  • What is the tool (looks kind of like a flat tipped metal pencil) you are using to pry apart the plastic bits? Where can we get one of those?

  • @anotherlizwong All the tools from the video we carry on our webpage at DirectFix com

  • @anotherlizwong if you're in a pinch, you can use fingernails to get it started and an old credit card to do most of the prying safely. However, I think there are other benefits to the DirectFix tool that the credit card lacks, such as a fine tip. But at least it won't leave scratches like a metal prying tool will.

  • hi i have a question. will you have the touch screen part? not the lcd it self but the part you touch. mine got a little crack in it and i would definately buy it if you will have it

  • Parts coming soon. Sounds wonderful, any idea as to when yet?

  • In a couple of weeks. We had issue with the first supply of parts that arrived.

  • @slugalow

Great to hear. Will you be selling the glass too? I am sure there is quite the demand for the glass. Until then, just look through the cracks.

  • I've got a question about the little plastic pieces you take off at 0:48 1:10 and 1:20 . Could you still reuse those pieces you took off did you have to replace those? I dropped my Droid and cracked the screen. I found a replacement screen, I just want to know if I will have to get any replacement pieces that you have to take off the start taking the phone apart.

  • Goo question and the answer is yes we did reuse them after the take apart video.

  • where did u get the screen?? i need one

  • We will have them soon at DirectFix com

  • very helpful! thanks again.

  • so are you guys gonna get droid parts?

  • Yes, we are working on getting the parts as we speak.

  • Is that thin layer of plastic suppose to bend that way? :(

  • Yes. It is just a thin plastic cover.
