What if you know what word you're supposed to type to identify this CAPTCHA alternative, but you spell the word wrong? (e.g. "hosre" instead of "horse")
this video captcha is useless... we are using not only automated captcha solving but also captcha services... the software will send the captcha to the service and just send back the answer. cheers.
The story that this technology is being developed to "stop spammers" is riotous in the extreme. All this "captcha" shit is just a massive parallel development of computer recognition technology. It isn't about stopping "spammers", it's about evolving software until it can, for example, recognize a moving object in a field of "noise". It's a great way to defeat the new camouflage technologies.
Honestly I could care less if bots spammed the channels. It happens still anyway, even with the bloody captchas. For the past three days I have had captchas for every single message, and I post alot., and I'll have to do a captcha after this as well I imagine. I'd rather put up with the odd channel spam then captchas.
It's fucken bullshit, and it's not necessary for the words to have so many characters and be warped so much either.
but it's wrong that tracking software in general gets confused by the noise, it is still possible to extract the "horse data" by making some time analysis, by deleting parts which change too much from frame to frame in the easiest case.
Most of the text based ones are annoying and unneeded. But, there is still one type that I do not mind using. There is the college one where what you type helps in figuring out specific words in books so we can have the actual text form.
So if you are using a site, and it is the one from the college site (usually red, forgot the name), you are actually helping out in textualizing (yes I made the word up) actual books.

What a waste of time. Instead of looking for a cure for cancer or HIV. Or find a good, safe, green and cheap energy scource, the´re spending their time trying to make a better captcha. Great.
I know you were. I was saying that you were wasting your time on youtube complaining about another guy wasting his time on youtube. Don't you see the irony? And besides it was joke. Idiot.
@TheRealQawser Wait wait... you are going after them for trying out new things and being innevated, and you call that wasting their time? This is coming from the person watching the video and replying on youtube, why don't you quit wasting time and use that time toward the areas you mentioned.
I find they are being more useful than your time here.
It will take more time for the animations to load but i guess it'll be better than some of the buttfucked texts that are just impossible to read sometimes.
This is pretty good but not the end solution, the ultimate user experience wouldn't even have a captcha. I really wish there was some way... I am forever typing in the 'wrong' letter and having to refill in the whole form again. So annoying.
It's good thinking and interesting that the human mind can decipher the image, but ultimately, if the computer can create them then the computer can figure them out.
Just like xoskeleton2 said, you are simply wrong. Prior to making a "factual" statement on a subject you should try researching it and understanding it first. kkthxbye
i don't believe you are intelligent enough to understand what goes into making these animated captchas and how it goes to the end user. you're wrong, simply said.
Actually I am well aware of the pixelation algorithms requiered for making animation. I have written a ray trace algorithm and a hidden line removal algorithm similar to the one used in Autocad. The facial recognition software is something remarkable, and it is my opinion that object recognition is only a matter of time, followed by abstract object recognition. I am not downplaying the effort, I am saying that the evolution will eventually require a newer technology.
This is similar to the effects you can get by staring at the noisy screen on a detuned television. After a while you will see swirling patterns because the brain tries to make sense of the lack of information. This demonstrates that it takes very little suggestion for the visual system to conjure up a moving image.
I think that an optical flow tracker would be much more successful. But the point is, If you used a picture of a person, and this animation, it'd still look the same to a computer.
nice, so the idea is that you type in, say "horse" when you see one? how can that replace letters in a captcha (which is much more complex and hard to guess)?
A machine can said that what is seeing is a horse! thats why :P becouse all is noise and we know what a horse is and how it moves , if we never see that horse we will see noise too! ( well almost , we see some patterns but nothing clear )
well, my point is that the computer can reload the page and guess all kinds of different normal stuff that we are likely to animate. with a captcha like DFJ235RF. Its a bit harder to guess for a computer ;)
Or you never use captcha or i don't understand the point at all. Guess needs to try , and is very rare that it hits the first time , and soo if it try to much time it's gets a BANNED IP , so that ends the bots work from that IP. Becouse it has a finite amount to time you can try guessing , it will ending stoping any ip that the bot has in his zombie ip. So also DOS attack are not successfull.
@CoolmarkCooner I agree, I think we should stop the production of anything that flashes really fast because it could cause some people seizures. We also need to stop the production of peanut butter and most other foods, some people are allergic to them.
I would much prefer using these animations than the captchas. The captchas drive me nuts, because I often fail to enter it in correctly the first time or so because of letters that are ambiguous.
hmm i dont know what to think! what about ppl who have outdated technology? i know ppl who still use IE5, FF2, etc. would that be a flash animation or how do they think that every browser can handle the image (only concerned about older ones)
im pretty sure if ur using ff2 u can't go online. cuz as soon as u restart firefox it gets updated automatically. and if u know a way to use ff2 without getting updated then the guy is a genius. so no problem for them. u dip shiiit.

yeah, I was thinking about this earlier.

so there's no really escape with smart bots.
