WOW! - this is an amazing mix and effort to get that all sounding so sweet in Record. really, well done!! Did you have the notation/score for the tracks, .. or you worked it all out by ear .?
@EditEd4TV .. yep not just "all ear", there is some awesome understanding and musicality awareness that you 'just have', a talent. great stuff, I have listened to your other stuff and like that too ..
.. can I ask, are/can you share your ".rec" project files out? either way, will be looking out and listening to your work. Cheers, /Stef
woaw great job dude, im also speechless du to the quality of the mixing, did you used some special combinator trick for an analog tape warm style ? im using a lot pulveriser now for that kind but if you get some trick for using low cpu usage module, im interest.
@Meteotrance - thank for the compliments! There really is no secret to what I did, nothing is hidden, no magic Combinator adding analog warmth, it's just the patch design, the effects, the EQ I applied (minimal tweaking if I recall correctly), and that's about it. At 2:22 you can see I have an RV7000 which is used globally for a bit of reverb on certain synths, and below the RV7000 is a Maximizer, just to give the audio a final push without clipping. That's all I got, no secrets, honestly.
@Meteotrance - oh, just to clarify, that Final Max sits between the Master Section Master Outputs (left/right) and the Hardware Interface Audio I/O Audio Output 1 and 2 (left/right). Some people place the maximizer as an insert effect on the master buss, and by default I think the M-Class devices are in there already (Equalizer, Stereo Imager, Compressor, Maximizer, in that order) but I either bypass those or delete them, and keep the Final Max on the outside so I can see it working.
@MODEST5WILL - I don't know, I guess it depends on how you define a cover, and how you define a remix. To me, a remix means you take elements/stems from the original version and add/subtract layers to make an entirely new version. A cover is a complete recreation of the original, from the ground up, all parts recorded new. That's what I did here - a cover, not a remix. Well, at least by my interpretation of cover vs. remix. Sexy beast... lol. :)
@musiccog - there are 2 bass patches in this song (well, at least in this cover version I did): the fretless bass is the "J Fretless Bass" patch from the Reason Factory Soundbank processed through the M-Class Compressor and a DDL-1, and the other bass is also from the Factory SoundBank, "FingerBass 1.0" through an M-Class Compressor and the Scream 4 Distortion.
@TWMusicBerlin It's a layered combination of factory soundbank NN-XT CP80 going through a CF-101 chorus, as well as the NN-XT "A" grand piano from the factory soundbank. Both are mixed together and given a bit of RV7000 hall reverb.
@thewakz - haha... well, I actually have "Cars" almost completed for the 80's band "The Retromaniax", we should get that into the rotations on our gigs soon.

@istefk - I never took care of all the details with selling the files legally, so right now I can't. :(

How did you get the vocals on there, Ed? Did you isolate with eq or get stems?

@redchant - they were recreated by myself and my friend, we just recorded them on our own, then added the proper effects.
