Kay's voice actually hefted more weight as she grew older! She was always a jazz singer who went pop to get hit records necessary for a top-flight career. Capitol understood that (one of her best-selling albums was titled "Jazz Singer") and in later years focused on top-quality albums rather than hit singles. Kay's catalog equalled those of Sinatra, Lee and Christy on Capitol.
If you hadn't heard, Frankie died a couple of years ago at the age of 93. I think Kay is still around as I have never heard differently but I don't think she is performing anymore. It is a shame that great talents such as these are all but gone as there is nobody coming up to replace
them.
Well like Simon says, "Just too old fashion"
What the hell does Simon know?
If you don't know who I'm talking about it's that guy on "American Idol " who thinks anything good is "Old Fashion"
Isn't she terrific? In her prime, she had one of the best voices in pop/jazz and what swing! What soul!

Markalson,
Thank you for getting back. I know who you are talking about. I am just an old-fashioned girl myself.

I can see why my mother-in-law, Frances Cooper, always said that Kay Starr is her favorite. Gee, she looks great.
Thanks, Markalson for sharing this great talent with all of us. What is she doing these days.

Silly question but was Kay singing live or miming as she sounds really good and she was in her 60's then I think.

She was 64 at the time this tour was done. Yes she did her own singing live. She still had a very strong voice. I went to this show
three times. I met Her and Frankie after the show, I had met Frankie several times before but this was the first time with Kay.

markalson,
I am getting chills hearing the lovely Kat Starr singing Patsy's song Crazy. They just do not make singers these days like the stars of yester-year.
Thanks so much.

Keep looking I have the consert broken up into
several segments due to time alowed for these clips. On the last clip Frankie and Kay sing
"Side By Side". They never recorded together
because they recorded for different labels.

Did Kay and Frankie sing anything together in the show?
Too bad they never recorded together.
