Catch shares eliminate small family run operations and turn a public resource into corporate owned commodities. Does not help protect the fish stocks which for the most part are healthy in my area. NMFS tries to manage with junk data and science, absolutely ignoring water quality and pollution issues seriously affecting the fishery and the whole ocean ecosystem. I spend 250 annualy on the ocean and truly see what is going on and it is contrary what EDF and NMFS is pushing down our throats.

This video is nothing more than EDF brainwashing the general public into thinking that destroying local communities and eliminating half of the fleet is the right thing. Its one thing to be in the winners circle but what about the rest of the family owned boats they eliminate from the industry.I just spent my last day groundfishing.I wasn't awarded enough quota to survive so now I'm out of buiseness..This is a sham! Don't swallow this America it does nothing but weaken the nation.FUCK YOU EDF!!!

If you have a 500,000 lb derby style quota and a 500,000 catch share quota, whats the difference ? Same amount of fish being landed yearly. Instead of having a week of derby fishing. Why not break it up ? Catch shares only put fisherman out of business !!!

It is inspiring to me, as an EDF member, to see the collaboration occuring in this complex process of the fishing industry and conservation. Bravo to all on all sides for coming together to make a new beginning for ourselves and our planet.
