Pronation is so you do not crash your elbow bones together ballisticly causing debilitating inflammation and deforming loss of range of motion from bone over growing
from calcified scar tissue repeatedly.
What does tighter spin mean?
More RPM or more forwardly axises spin?
Drew pronates all 6 of his pitches even his Curve, Slider and cutter.
Yes, even his Curve is pronated (drive and finish thumb down) voluntarily, saving his elbow from ballistic crash, his Cutter and Slider are also pronated where with the traditional thinking you supinate these pitches giving you many types of injury.
Watch,u-tube/Mythbusters/Roger Clemens and you will see what a Marshall certified instructor taught him when he left Boston with arm problems. This type of high speed video is the only way to diagnose mechanics.
What you think is pronation is actually voluntary supination to its fullest length then involuntary pronation snap back after release. We voluntarily pronate the drive and release of the curve; it can only be done from one position. Some of my pitchers have attained curveball over spin that gets the ball to actually go towards the ball arm side of the batters plate. Some pitches that traditional pitchers throw are pronated voluntarily but not the curve, slider and cutter.
This would indicate that you take the ball back around and past your driveline (over early rotating) then fight the centrifugal elbow and shoulder injuries. I'll bet you Scapular load?
I already know you do not use one arm angle, you have said you destroyed your UCL and now your shoulder, if any of this is true you use the traditional pitching motion. This is a fact.
Go borrow a camera? I can forgive anything accept blatant repete-lying.
Tell me how your 4 iron ball training cycles went?
He looks around 13 yrs old, he should be throwing a lot harder. He has absolutly no hip-shoulder separation, that's probably why he doesn't through as hard as he could.
Drew is 12 YO at this point playing 13 YO club ball. Guessing at velocity from looking at video is a fools game. He has plenty of separation so that he can throw from a full-length contraction unlike traditional pitchers whom loose their initial separation by rotating as the ball is actually going backwards. Drew is the fastest kid in his region attaining mid 70s velocity. He is turning 14 soon and is playing on his HS summer JV team already and they have not evenstarted school yet
He is throwing in the low 80's now. The velocity I gave you was when he was 12. Do you have 6 pitches? 3 that move towards the glove side of the plate and 3 that move to the ball arm side of the plate. Have you tried any of the Marshall tenets.
I'm a sophmore in HS and i top out at 92 and i have 8 pitches(2 fastballs, curve, slider, screwball, change up, sinker, and that pronation curve. Yes I did try most of the Marshall training programs which led to Tommy John surgery and that's why i abandoned his teachings.
That's believable? You do not even need a UCL to throw with Marshall mechanics!
Lets see some video of your traditional delivery and I will tell you when you will actually need this surgery. To be believable? riddle me this, explain the transition differance in the traditional motion compared with the Marshall one? good luck here, this is where most get it wrong? I suspect you are one of these, I hope not.
The pronating movements put stress on my shoulder so i compensated and ruined my elbow.
I don't have a traditional delivery, i'm a side-winder.
In the Marshall delivery, pitchers do not incorporate a huge leg kick, and they land with their entire body in line with home and 2nd base. In the "traditional" pitching motion, most pitchers go beyond the line between home and 2nd and do incorporate a high leg kick.
Lifting youre leg may help assist a dog to piss on a tree but it gives nothing in return as evidenced by all High speed footage of traditional pitchers coming to a complete stop at front side foot plant while the ball is still going backwards!!. Sidearmers are actually throwing with less injury potential than traditional pitchers
You actually need to recognize your phobia; I call it Insidovertiphobia.
You are a 2nd year HSerthat throws 92 side arm after having a 2 year recovery from Tommy John surgery are you serious, you are the only one on earth that can do this! You should get your GED now and go to a JC so you can be drafted at 17.
Why do you think that I throw side arm? And two years is plenty of time to recover from Tommy John. I agree with Dr. Marshall on some of his teachings like the transition differences in his motion and the "traditional" one, but by mixing his and my own I find that my motion is superior in velocity and movement.
The pronating movements put stress on my shoulder pronation is a forearm movement designed to hinge youre elbow correctly and has little to do with youre shoulder. Where did youre shoulder hurt when you threw traditionally?
So explain to me how you can throw a pronated curve side-winding as you put it?
I have no clue what you are now? Lets see the video if we are going to talk about you.
Lets see the attempt at youre Marshall mechanics video, put up or you know?
He looks very stiff up there....tell him to bend his knees...may help a small amout on his problem with forward momentum...And will definately help out his speed, he is a very good pitcher anyways.
Looks are deceiving! His upright position gives him the advantage of rotational drive while driving the ball much more efficient than decelerated rotation from traditional deliveries, his knees need to straighten more and not lengthen as much to perform these mechanics more correctly. He gets much greater use of forward momentum than traditional because he uses the crow-step motion that allows him to use his legs the way they are built! His speed is already tops for his age group and region!
I believe we should all pronate while pitching. His arm action is very good. I'm trying to understand the reason there's no leg kick. If he kept his arm action the same, but incorporated a high leg kick and pelvic load towards the plate...would'nt he greatly benefit??
The traditional leg lift gives you nothing in return in regards to control or velocity!
If you had access to high-speed video you could witness this disconnection in traditional pitching mechanics. When the glove side foot lands all forward momentum comes to a stop while at the same time the ball is actually going backwards. In the future you are going to see Crow-step mechanics performed, taught and be accepted. By driving forward using both legs improves velocity and command.
Why because the batters look like they are disabled? LOL.

agreed wait a second ur mike marshalls secratary or something like that

The movement jerked on my shoulder. It felt like someone was stabbing me right on the head of my humerus.
I'm not limited to just one arm angle. I can still throw a pronated curve with Dr. Mike's machanics.
I'd have to buy a camera, so please forgive me if it takes me a while.
