But foreign policy is MUCH MORE than just military action. It includes international trade, diplomacy, etc. America was pretty connected to the world even in the late 1800s, esp. commercially. Even during our 'isolationist' period until WW2, we still passed shit like Lend-Lease and gave plenty of aid to Britain to fight off Nazis. To say that we were 'isolationist' AT ALL post-WW2 is a JOKE! Remember Bretton Woods? Creation of the UN? IMF? World Bank? And so on
