On the radar, that cell just seemed to hang over that area. At first, I measured it's progress and it was heading in a direction towards us in Mason City. It was early, and cells were still forming to the east. We really did not get much other than wind and rain, and a heck of a lot of lighting.

It was not til after midnight that I found out about Mapleton. My heart goes out to those folks there.

The storm lasted about 25 mins felt like it was sitting on top of the house. We were in a basement on 2nd street. We walked out to see houses leveled and others half gone. Theres a roof from someones garage on top of my car. I wouldn't say 50 to 60% is destroyed tho. And as for injures not many from what they are sayn.

Can anyone confirm the extent of the damage. Chaser reports are 50-60% of the town destroyed.

I've been watching the live streams on this tornado that developed near Mapleton. I hope everybody is safe and not hurt. My prayers are for you. Based on the tornado damage in this video, in my opinion, I would rate this tornado an EF-4.
