I just got a ticket in the mail for running a red light $158. ...well actually, I did a u-turn on a red light that had JUST changed, I didnt run through the intersection so I think it's a little ridiculous...but I completely understand why you should be ticketed for going through a red light, it's dangerous. HOWEVER, I agree with whoever said your first violation should be warning.. I sure as hell didn't get a warning and this is my 1st one.
I made a left turn on an intersection w/ one, it went to yellow as I crossed the line and and as I completed the turn it went to red and I saw the flash out the far right corner of my windshield. There was a car behind me so I assume it was for them, but I'm still worried. CA is very desperate for cash
But this video does not answer what constitutes a left turn violation, is it only if you enter after it's gone red or is it if you're trapped in/exiting the intersection w/ a fast yellow?
I got rear ended because you a-holes put a red light camera on a street with a 45 mph speed limit that has an extremely quick yellow light. I stopped knowing that if I didn't I'd get a ticket. At this point in many intersections we now have the option of being rear ended or being ticketed with no real way to appeal. Now people have to jam on their brakes when the light turns yellow and hope that drivers behind them do the same, it creates an unsafe condition with abrupt stops.
1) A notice is sent by mail around 30 days after such violation has been committed. Who's going to remember the violation by then?
2) How do you defend yourself against a camera that took a picture of your car? What if the camera was malfunctioning or there was a human error. One is basically being denied the right to defend oneself in a court of law. It's like, here's a ticket: now pay it!!
3) They should send you a video of such vioaltion, not a picture.
Give me a breakhere ok.. A camera records a violation only after it has happened, it doesn't prevent anything. A violator will keep on running red lights regardless. I know so because I was one of them. I don't drive anymore like this; I've gotten married, got family and I'm 100% more responsible now, plus haven't had a ticket in the past 5 years.
In 2009, 676 people died and 113,000 were injured due to red light runners. Running a red light is illegal and extremely dangerous. Red-light safety cameras are proven to change driver behavior and reduce fatalities and serious collisions.
The program is paid for completely by violators, not taxpayers. If you don’t want a ticket, don’t run the red light.
Red-light safety cameras capture motorists illegally running a red light. By driving defensively such as staying alert, focused, driving the speed limit, no distractions, following a vehicle at a recommended safe distance of 3-4 seconds behind and watching for the signs ahead, you should be able to scan the road ahead for approaching red lights.
These cameras are put in place by gigantic money hungry corporations which capture hundreds if not thousands of people trying to make that yellow light, or that turn on red.The wealth isn't distributed evenly, the corporations taking a bigger cut from your "violation" and the rest goes to the appropriate city department. Quit taking the hard earned money from the middle class. These corporations are only worried about stealing more and more from the people who live day by day n this crappy economy
people are getting tickets for going with the yellow light and almost a the end the red light cought them lik wtf are we supposed to know when the yellow one is coming??
A 30-day warning period precedes live citations. During this period motorists will receive a warning ticket in the mail if they run a red light. After the 30-day warning period is over, live citations begin. It is against the law to run a red light. If you don't run a red light, you don't get a ticket.
I was driving a truck loaded total weight 28000 pounds, thirty feet from intersection yellow light come up for three seconds, can't stop, the length of truck and trailer 51'
they should let you off with a warning for the first time.at least if you past the red light after a few millisecons.but no they whant my hard earn money.ASSHOL/ES!!

Here's my issues with these cameras:
