I love the look that Daphne gave Mel when she came in the door after Niles and how Niles complimented Daphne on her outfit, it was sweet. I love what Daphne said about Mel, I agree with her.

Mel gives me the shudders, because she seems like Maris-Lite brought onscreen — and given how godawful Maris and Niles' relationship was, it's uncomfortable because it's a real-life, common problem for people getting out of unhealthy relationships to go running to someone who reminds them of their old partner. Probably Niles is trying to cope with Daphne being unavailable by trying to recapture the time period from season 1-3 when he was married to Maris and Daphne wasn't an option.

this is probably one of the ONLY times I will agree with Mel. While I may not agree with her obvious dislike for Frasier just because he is Niles brother, and they have a good relationship. I do believe Niles deserves more than he gets and deserve to be Cork Master just as much, if not more, than Frasier.

I dislike Mel. However, the way she manipulated Niles was clever, and I have grudging admiration for that. She raised some good points, too. Frasier was being insensitive. Frasier was mad at Mel for walking over Niles, but he was doing that, too. Maybe it's just too easy to walk on Niles. He has so much trouble standing up for himself.
