Speaking as someone who does 90% of his gaming now on a console...
Anyone who believes that shooters are truly suited for a thumb joystick is clearly an ignorant boob that has never actually gamed to any significant extent on the PC.
The first-person-shooter's true home is on the PC, played with a mouse. It's where the genre was actually invented, for chrissake.

@creamclouds I'm nto sure of the exatc specs, but if you run it in Directx 9, the specs re very low I as abl to max it out on a dual core intel and 8800gt, 2gb ram and get about 40fpos average.
I run MINE at 5760x1200 resolution, med-high settings, Dx11 on a quad core adn 5870 1gb, 4gb ram adn get about 435 average.
Anyone got any info on the North America release? Was supposed to come out today. I went on amazon, and it lets you buy it but it says it ships in "1 to 2 months."

most console gamers like to sit on a couch which would make that difficult, also most console gamers are only looking for cheap thrills such as games like halo where all you do is SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT and they dont need precision aiming like with a mouse.
PC games are nice because they support complex games (stalker, Deus ex) via mouse and keyboard as well as better FPS via mouse and keyboard.

All of those games are PC games too, if you look at a call of duty sniper on an xbox, then on a pc, you will always notice that pc snipers are about 50 times better and quicker.
Additionally precision is useless in fallout 3, as it is an rpg not dependant on controlls, as is oblivion, and borderlands is better on pc.

Onto complexity, fallout 3 and oblivion are kids stuff compared to alot of pc games.

@Icarcus man, im not sure where you can get it. you could try limewire or bittrorrent if your willing to pirate (which i strongly discourage), and willing to risk downloading a fatal virus that will perminantly fry your pc. or, the better option other than waiting, is to try and find it on ebay or another auction site and buy a copy from someone who bought it over there, the downside is it will all be in ukrainian.
Trust me don't pirate it killed my computer to the point were i lost EVERYTHING and all my accounts for everything were fked and it uploaded more viruses so i was fked if you do pirate use pirate bay its the safest. :'[
eh i played the game already, thank god for (pirate bay), it was okay just not as good as the others, there is no more faction wars, though some factions still remain, but the environment and missions are much better
im wait for the english release in Q1 of next year, let the russians have the early release with all the bugs! lol should be playable by the time its release in the uk! game looks great but if its anything like the previous 2 in the series the games were hardly complete on release!
The x-Ray engine is really the only engine that can bring out the sheer atmospheric feel to STALKER. Don't expect a change in engines, since of course X-Ray was developed by them, and they're not going to throw away all of that hard work. Don't worry it's being improved a lot.
after seing what the fanbase has done with the existing versions of X-ray (stalker complete 2009 and various clear sky mods), i dont doubt that there's a LOT of potential left in the engine.
this game also still uses the x ray, engine, dispite what some people have heard. the graphics willl be relatively easier to minipulate to reduce clipping problems with basic computers. you wont be able to join factions like in clear sky, but you will be able to work for the factions there, those are of course duty and freedom, but also bandits. duty and freedom live together in a town under a no violence policy so they wont be fighting each other. but that doesnt mean they wont attacku outside.
hey smart ones. this stalker follows the aftermath of stalker shadow of chernobyl. (assuming that the character chose the ending where you destroy the c-conciusness.) instead of the mini zones from the past two series there are three huge zones that in my guess would measure together the entirity of the marshlands, cordon, and apogrom research insitute together. also, pripyat is now located corretly to the north of chernobyl power plant unlike in the first game where it was south.
Lo0ks like they went with the Clear Sky interface. That means this game will probably suck. Clear Sky t0ok everything that was great about Shadow of Chernobyl and turned it upside-down. I still play Shadow of Chernobyl after two years. I played Clear Sky off and on for about a month and lost interest in it because it was absolutely no fun to play. Shadow of Chernobyl retains its charm and always will. They should have stuck with a "recipe" (reference to Oblivion Lost) that works.

I am looking forward to the new CoP, but i seriously doubt that it would be better than the original. But the one kickass thing about it will be the freeplay mode. And i hope there will be more artifacts in the game!!!
I'll still get CoP for sure. After all, it can always be patched and modded just like Clear Sky. When I first played Clear Sky, it just blew my mind that GSC would take so many steps backwards after setting the bar so high. They didn't bother to fix things that needed fixed, like inverted weapon models and unnecessary weapon cocking, PLUS they added more banality like not being able to aim pistols properly. All you get is a zo0m (a technique called "point-sho0ting"). Iron sight mod fixes that.
my clear sky has some major mood swings, i can play with out any patchs for a while then itll crash saying xrEngine reports a bug bla bla bla, then i reinsatall with only a couple of patchs, not evan in order. no more crash but theyll be back, they allways do ;) plus so everyone doenst just say my comp is shit, i have a geforce 9800 gtx+ which means i can own the graphics on maximum. haha reply. i love the satlker series. i hope that i dont have to but a new graphics card when the new come out.
an unpatched Clear Sky will crash all the time, mostly when loading levels. It happened to me most when it did the "Client: Synchronizing" thing. Updated to the latest patch and it hasnt crashed once
I remember when I first bought SOC. I was so excited to finally experience the game I had been waiting 8 years for, only to find that it was practically unplayable because of bugs.
Thank god GSC cares about the condition of its games.
Good computer and yes, it's patched. All I can think of is, this is my 2nd time playing through and the emission in the junkyard never happened for some reason. I think because of this it glitched the rest of the story mode. There must be a way I can still trigger it.
True, then I'm not quite sure what is causing the crashes. I played more yesterday and recieved an emission, however if I try continuing the story it still crashes. Also, my multiplayer crashed multiple times on me the other day as well. I hope I can find a way to fix these problems. :\
I sent in the bug report so I'm hoping they get back to me about it. I guess that's all I can do unless I want to start a new game, but I've acquired so much wealth and good items. Maybe I'll just try reinstalling and keeping the save files.
i'm a huge fan of the series and i gotta say this looks better than clear sky. looks like it takes the best parts of clearsky and adds a more open ended gameply which was one of the big complaints about he earlier games. can't wait!
those who complain about XBOX fanboys, i have an xbox and i play games on it,, but i love stalker to death. this is a game which is so unique and challenging. imgine joininig stalkers and kiking some bandit asses and sitting around fire playing guitar and drinking vodka is quite my type of game. there is no any other game like this. and i am happy that its only on pc.
Good lord, I don't care how long it takes but PLEASE make sure the game is ready to ship this time. Clear Sky was an amazing game but the bugs made it unplayable for months.
Another cool idea would be a ton of sidemissions after you complete the story. As you're an agent you have to go down to X-42 (some kinda lab) and take an important document :D
I have a decent pc who handles the game very well on highest settings. But when playing both games (SOC and CS), I noticed that all vehicles and trains encountered in the game world were static objects, so I thought that maybe the developers didn't want them to be dynamic, because they could cause low performance in certain places. However, there is a mod which adds driveable vehicles to STALKER. Therefore it could be possible I guess.
come on, trains in chernobyl would be unrealistic and to dangerous cause of the radiats(i hope i wrote it right). And who would built a train in a place where nobody lives?
i suppose you mean anomalies. well, who said that a moving train has to be in such a dangerous area? with a bit of imagination, moving trains could fit in very well. let's say there is a mission where a faction of Stalkers has to capture a train a drive it to another place while another enemy faction tries to prevent that. just one example how moving trains could be implemented in a logic way.
I hope the developers create a full Pripyat, add lots of new appartments in the houses and rooms in the buildings to explore. In SOC I really hated that you couldn't go everywhere in the city and that most buildings were just dummies to fill the map.
I hope they commission MoozE to make more tracks, I don't like how they keep reusing the old ones and sometimes match them with levels in stupid ways.
You can actually wear helmets or gas masks now!? Cool. I saw above the suit is a slot for ur head like in Diablo or Titan queast ect. I have the first 2 and hope that this on will have better game play. Like the glitches or bugs being greatly reduced for example when you take cover your buddy or a NPC will come and displace your character where he was a munite ago. Know what I mean or the grenades landing 100% Precisely where you are hiding from a 100meters away!! XD!!

my clear sky has some major mood swings, i can play with out any patchs for a while then itll crash saying xrEngine reports a bug bla bla bla, then i reinsatall with only a couple of patchs, not evan in order. no more crash but theyll be back, they allways do ;) plus so everyone doenst just say my comp is shit, i have a geforce 9800 gtx+ which means i can own the graphics on maximum. haha reply. i love the satlker series. i hope that i dont have to but a new graphics card when the new come out.

an unpatched Clear Sky will crash all the time, mostly when loading levels. It happened to me most when it did the "Client: Synchronizing" thing. Updated to the latest patch and it hasnt crashed once

Maybe I'm a blind idiot, but even though everyone complains about how Stalker is plagued with bugs, I've never encountered a single bug once!
What exactly constitutes as a "bug" in a game that features an open-ended world that relies almost entirely on non-scripted sequences to fuel itself?

I remember when I first bought SOC. I was so excited to finally experience the game I had been waiting 8 years for, only to find that it was practically unplayable because of bugs.

Clear sky crashes everytime the computer that is supposed to mug you in order to continue the story line mugs me. That's a bug to me. :S

Shitty computer is all I can think of; Clear Sky's never crashed on me once.

Good computer and yes, it's patched. All I can think of is, this is my 2nd time playing through and the emission in the junkyard never happened for some reason. I think because of this it glitched the rest of the story mode. There must be a way I can still trigger it.

True, then I'm not quite sure what is causing the crashes. I played more yesterday and recieved an emission, however if I try continuing the story it still crashes. Also, my multiplayer crashed multiple times on me the other day as well. I hope I can find a way to fix these problems. :\

I sent in the bug report so I'm hoping they get back to me about it. I guess that's all I can do unless I want to start a new game, but I've acquired so much wealth and good items. Maybe I'll just try reinstalling and keeping the save files.

i'm a huge fan of the series and i gotta say this looks better than clear sky. looks like it takes the best parts of clearsky and adds a more open ended gameply which was one of the big complaints about he earlier games. can't wait!

those who complain about XBOX fanboys, i have an xbox and i play games on it,, but i love stalker to death. this is a game which is so unique and challenging. imgine joininig stalkers and kiking some bandit asses and sitting around fire playing guitar and drinking vodka is quite my type of game. there is no any other game like this. and i am happy that its only on pc.

Another cool idea would be a ton of sidemissions after you complete the story. As you're an agent you have to go down to X-42 (some kinda lab) and take an important document :D

I have a decent pc who handles the game very well on highest settings. But when playing both games (SOC and CS), I noticed that all vehicles and trains encountered in the game world were static objects, so I thought that maybe the developers didn't want them to be dynamic, because they could cause low performance in certain places. However, there is a mod which adds driveable vehicles to STALKER. Therefore it could be possible I guess.

i suppose you mean anomalies. well, who said that a moving train has to be in such a dangerous area? with a bit of imagination, moving trains could fit in very well. let's say there is a mission where a faction of Stalkers has to capture a train a drive it to another place while another enemy faction tries to prevent that. just one example how moving trains could be implemented in a logic way.

I hope the developers create a full Pripyat, add lots of new appartments in the houses and rooms in the buildings to explore. In SOC I really hated that you couldn't go everywhere in the city and that most buildings were just dummies to fill the map.

I think I read that it is possible to help your faction ( doing quests ) but you can't join them.

You can actually wear helmets or gas masks now!? Cool. I saw above the suit is a slot for ur head like in Diablo or Titan queast ect. I have the first 2 and hope that this on will have better game play. Like the glitches or bugs being greatly reduced for example when you take cover your buddy or a NPC will come and displace your character where he was a munite ago. Know what I mean or the grenades landing 100% Precisely where you are hiding from a 100meters away!! XD!!
