time again history repeats itself. The persians turks and the moghul indians loved emeralds rubies and diamonds and their jewellery and precious objects are always decorated with these three gems. I doubt whether any other gems besides diamonds rubies or emeralds ever made any impression on them.

Kudos to the Govt of India for seizing the jewels which is legitimately belonging to the people. Nizams on their own would have sold them to some collectors, most of them would have belonged to the plundered jewels of the VIjaynagar empire too.
